This knockoff better sound as good as the original for that price :P

      Ha ha thanks - fixed.

I have the non-PRO version and they are pretty good.

I put them through the washing machine (45 minute cycle) just for kicks and giggles. Still works.

My sound peats ones didn't survive washing machine.

    • Neither did my Galaxy Buds 2 :(

    • +1

I also had the non-Pro version however they did not survive a washing machine cycle.

        I feel lucky.

    • Uhh, you can pretty much put any pair of earphones in the wash and bring them out unharmed(you can dunk a PC in water).

Even though the battery will be pretty safe from the water, it can passively transfer a current to something less protected, so you'd ideally want to drain the battery. After taking it out of the wash, you need to make sure that there's not a single drop of water hiding inside before attempting to go back to using it.

This or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro?

    • +1

I have both, Galaxy is better if you have a Samsung for sure, better sound incl 360deg, but the Google ones are pretty good as well. Depends on what price you can get the Samsung. As a side note I just got the Samsung buds FE and I think they have a better sound and fit than the other two.

Google will price match, and refund the difference to your original payment once they ship.

Good if you have unused credit - or you can get 10% back as store credit via the 2TB/mo plan

Google Store has banners saying their BF sale starts on the 17th, might be worth holding off

      • if i bought now…. would google price on the 17th? if i waited until the 17th and the price didnt come lower, do they know the history of prices?

      • +1

        $179, kinda disappointing 😮‍💨

        • +1

True, 10% store credit cashback for Google One makes it a bit sweeter but that assumes you want to buy something else from them…

  • I bought one from JB hi-fi store a couple weeks ago full price. Lucky I still haven't opened it.
Not sure if they will refund the difference or I need to order one and return the other.

    • They can refund you the difference, I have done this before

Bought this earlier in the year for $150 delivered from Optus. So far so good, only complaint is that it's a bit hit and miss using the touch controls as my fingers generally don't know which angle to go in at when wanting to touch them. Otherwise spatial audio, conversation mode, ANC are all great features and it goes well with my Pixel 7 Pro. Also like that I can connect them to two devices simultaneously (work laptop and Pixel) for Teams calls and personal calls/music.

    • Lol yes, the touch is a bit tricky. I always seem to manage to turn the volume down after turning it up.
My only gripe is they can't be turned off it seems.

      • I haven't figured out how to turn em off except for return to case.

        • That's the only way. Not good for battery life keeping them topped up either.

  • How is the ANC compared to a Over-the-Hear Headphones.
Will it be suitable for a long-haul flight?

I usually take my Anker Life Q30, but if I can travel lighter with the same noise cancellation, I'll buy those blue buds instantly, to match my P8Pro Blue

Won't compare with the over ear headphones from Bose, Sony etc. However I would say they are 70-80% just as effective. I just use these when travelling now since I prefer them over the over ear ones. Cuts out enough noise for me but if you want 100% noise blocked out then they won't do the job as well as the over ear.

      • thanks for the reply

      • What about vs the Sony in ear ones?

Not sure how these would do on a plane. They tend to let a lot of specific high frequencies through. Like out walking my dog I can hear the sound of car tyres coming from quite a way off. In an office I can hear the rustling of paper, but other stuff is well masked. They are comfy though. Just be aware of you have a samsung phone and you want to make calls on them you're probably in for a hard time. They still suffer from losing one ear during calls, which is apparently an issue seen mostly by Samsung users with no one size fits all fix.

Personally I find the anc in my jabra elite 7 pros to be superior, but beyond terrible for phone calls. Nobody can hear you.

How comfortable are these compared the the series A? I find my ear canals get pretty sore after wearing the A's for about 30+ mins.

    • +1 wondering the same thing, do they look clunky compared to the series A (base model)?

    • +1

I've found these pretty good for longer periods and I go running in them too.

      No complaints.

Came from a couple years of using Samsung galaxy buds live beforehand

    • i just spent the last 5 days sleeping with them in as the AC was the loudest thing I've ever heard at this hotel.

You do feel something, but it is reasonably comfortable.

$149 now. Told you no deal. Neg first, think later.

  • I bought these with my credit and swapped back to my galaxy buds after 1 day. The noise cancelling was far inferior. Really disappointed in these. They just feel like snug in my ear

  • Is this the latest version released with Pixel 8?

    • Should be

    • The only change is 2 more colour options.

  • +3

I've had these since release and I'm very happy with them
I dont use for noise cancelling as have Bose for planes.
    What I really like:
    1. quite long battery
    2. you can disable in ear detection
    3. can disable using them to control playback.
    4. no dangle bit coming off like the non-pro had that broke off.

sound seems ok but i mostly listen to podcasts.
I had the non-pro version before (and still do) but never use them now - these are way better.

  • Anyone else own these and get the notification loop?

Mine are paired with a pixel 7 Pro but when using and a notification comes from say Whatsapp/teams/messenger etc the notification sound loops until I restart the phone. Super annoying.

    • +1

      I have a P7 - no problems whatsoever with Android 13 or 14.
Can you try them on another phone?

      • Yeah tried it on old androids and same issue. Annoyingly doesn't happen with wife's iPhone but Google just agreed to replace them so fingers crossed it's resolved with a new pair. Seems like a software issue but everything is up to date so I'm out of options

  • Bought with $10 JB HI FI perks

  • These are in the Telstra rewards store also for 59,300 points - I think the cash equivalent is $179.

  • +1

    Can these be charged wirelessly?

  • Be warned that ANC on these are pretty disappointing compared to the AirPods Pro. Eartip seal was good according to the Pixel Buds app. I still use these regularly at home because the battery life is very good compared to cheaper alternatives that die within like 2 hours.
