  • By the time of writing, there are quite a few of TCN Shop cards in $50 and $100 available in Coles Broadway, NSW.

  • +2

Nothing at Oakleigh, Elsternwick and Glenferrie VIC

  • None has Ikea?

Only Wooly 20x offer for Ikea atm?

  • Apologies if this has been asked already, looked through the comments but may have missed it.

I know you can redeem several (as many?) actual JB gift cards online, but can you use them to purchase larger gift card amounts? Say, pooling them all to buy 1x $500 card.

I have a few $30/$50 TCN cards, was thinking of exchanging to JB and then doing the above. If it works….

    Cheers!

    • No

      • Cheers

Not sure if this has been asked, but if my local Coles is out of stock and there is a woolies/big W in the same shopping centre, could I take the card from Woolworths and activate it at Coles to get the discount?

    • +8

You can try stealing, sure, let us know how you go.
Why not just shoplift the item you are trying to buy, then you only have to visit 1 shop instead of 3?

    • Good question but I am assuming they have an inventory allocation per denomination per card but I could be wrong.

Especially if someone steals 5 physical cards but never activates them but you take 5 of your shoplifted cards who knows.

Didn’t think about it so well thought off

    • +2

Try one and see what happens, can't hurt. Genius plan if it works

      • Big W and Woolworths do not have these cards on the shelves (yes, I checked today)

    • +1

It will work. Is it morally right, idk. The cards cost nothing to the retailer. They are sent for free. The card company makes the money no matter what.

The moral issue is that you are then depleting Woolworths of stock they could have sold.

Source: used to own a shop and stocked gift cards.

      • Does Woolworths make any money from gift card sales?

It will even out in the long run anyway, when Woolies has the sales, we will pillage Coles…. Who's with me?

        • +1

Yeah they do. At least for me it wasn’t much. Just a few percent, depending on the card. I’ll see if I can find my old documents.

It will even out I guess. I personally don’t see the issue as I know how the system works, but it just doesn’t feel right at the same time. Dunno. I guess it’s up to your own morals.

    • Is this a serious question?

    • +1

Do the cards share the same barcode between retailers (Coles & Woolies)?

If so, technically it should work, morally is another story.

      • It won’t work. Coles/Woolworths have different serial numbers. They card will be blocked by TCN once it’s detected.

  • 5 x 50 teen
    2 x 100 home

    Wanneroo Coles just now available

  • Anyone finding that they can't convert their cards?
Shows the balance and expiry but comes up with the error 'Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance.'
Of course you can't contact them for assistance as they're too busy and then they're closed

    • +1

I had problems and just went to JB and used them as is

      • That was the plan but no stock within 200km unfortunately.
Apparently the link on the website doesn't actually work

    • +2

Check the balance on the card first, you'll get an email saying it's active after that, then you can convert the card. Worked for me earlier today.

      • Didn't work - Managed to get through after they were closed and the gentleman said that isn't working 90% of the time (checking balance and registering CAN trigger it to work sometimes)
There is a different link to redeem them (at least for JB hifi)
        Works now so I'm happy

        • How did you manage to get yours working? Cant seem to redeem mine even though it showing it has balance. Tried the trick above no luck.

          • @Nullefied: Have you registered the card? This is not the same as checking the balance…I realised this after reading the comments on here and it worked after i registered my card.

            • @SunnyinDubai: Won't actually let me register it. Giving me the Status Code Error 400. Tried multiple times across 2 of my HIM Gift Cards…

              • @Nullefied: Are they old HIM cards? They could be the old eftpos ones which may not be convertible perhaps? I only say this as the HIM cards were not on sale this time round.

                • @SunnyinDubai: I dont think so, I got them from Big W this morning. CS Rep was no help either after being on hold for an hour. Was told to wait 24 hours even though checking balance online shows its loaded.

                  • @Nullefied: Did you get them to work in the end? We were told wait 24 hours too and even after exchanging for JB vouchers if they didn't come through - wait 24 hours. In the time it took to sort this the item we wanted (and all the other colour options too) went out of stock and got removed from the JB website :/

                    • +1

@MissDemeanour: Nah I didnt bother. I just went ahead and gone in store. Too much hassle, I just asked for the JB Deal I had to be redone in store so I can pay via EFTPOS

        • +1

I bought a bunch just now and couldn't convert them to JB, so went through and checked the balance/registered them and straight away was able to convert to JB

NB: the convert link is for the Kids card, might differ for the other ones

    • Some retailers need a different link to swap the card for some. The phone are very busy and wouldnt even ring though most of the time but keep trying and you'll get through but expect up to 1 hour wait on hold.

  • +1

Went into coles today just randomly checking the stock. I saw a bunch of $100 home cards at the service desk to my surprised. I asked for 5 and was asked if I reserved them. Yes of course I did and then the manager was called and she told me no they aren't for me , and wouldn't give me any. Can someone explain to me how you reserve gift cards I didn't know thats a new thing

    • +10

Reserved for the staff or their friends/relatives.

  • Got some HOME $100 cards last night, there were about 10 left

    • +9

      In all of Australia?

      • 😂
Well no at my local Coles, I grabbed 5 and left 5 on the shelf. Idiot move from me, today none left - all wiped out (even other cards/denominations)

        • +2

Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure not to go to your local Coles.

Coles Eastgardens had a lot of Teens $50s and $30s this afternoon behind the counter if anyone still looking for some.

  • Wannissa and Tuggeranong had few home $100 today

Can the Choice card be used in Myer, Harvey Norman, Amazon australia? I can’t see them listed here but they are on the choice website, can anyone clarify

  • +6

Managed to buy the iPhone 15 128g for $1402 from jbhifi with a charger included in that price.
Price matched to digi direct, they had a Black Friday special selling the phone for $1377 plus $25 for the charger.
Used $1300 worth of these giftcards (saving $195) and paid the remainder $104 in cash.
Could have saved an extra $25 but couldn’t find any more gift cards left in stock and wanted to take advantage of the Black Friday deal before the phone goes back up to $1449.
I would normally never pay so much for a phone, but this is a welcome and very much needed upgrade from my iPhone 8 - hopefully I get 6 years out of this phone also 😂

Thank you to OP for posting this gift card deal!

  • -2

Has anyone ever tried inserting these cards in any EFTPOS terminal and using them as regular savings cards? I used to work in a retailer where their gift cards actually worked anywhere. But we were told to tell people they don't work anywhere else.

    • +1

I used some today at supercheapauto and JB. I inserted the cards in the EFTPOS terminal, selected Savings, entered PIN
      Worked fine

In a town near movie magic and waters wild,
Where Coles cupboards hold secrets, hidden not mild.

Don’t follow the field. Enter the plaza.

Literally hundreds there for those in the golden part of Queensland.

    Good luck all.

  • Wonder if anyone price matches gift cards

  • Cannot find anymore $100 home cards in Perth..

    • Check on Wednesday, there will be plenty

  • It's been more than 24 hours and I am not able to activate the cards. I can see the balance on the cards, seriously frustrated with this worst service.

    • Same. I had a JB Deal placed was hoping to convert the HIM Cards with no luck. Was told 24 Hours, I called BS. Tried again this morning and it won’t let me. Ended up doing the JB Deal in store and paid with the HIM Cards through their EFTPOS.

Trash Cards. Guessing they stopped people from activating and converting so they dont get caught lacking running out of converted gift cards. i.e JB. Especially on Black Friday week…

  • Home cards are all gone in Sunshine Coast I think so.
    Need $250 more 😭😭😭

            • -4

@annierguan: I want to buy a ps5 for my kids. The phone you can get from Apple Store so you don’t need these cards just me

  • +3

Had a funny experience where my local Coles was telling people that the SHOP card wasnt part of the deal. Consequently there were heaps of SHOP cards left. I kindly pointed out that while there isnt a picture of the SHOP card in the catalogue its written as part of this deal. Cashier was shocked to see the discount when she did a trial run. Grabbed a couple and moved on.

    • -1

Coles staff impart a lot of incorrect information regarding GC deals: It's against the law to sell more than 3, it's only 5 per family, you cannot use cash and card, and many many times you cannot use a GC to buy a GC, back when you could. These are just the ones I have been told. And not counting the evil looks and bad temper, you would almost think the discount comes out of their pay. Most of it comes from management.

      • -1

Yes that’s the policy they correct !

  • Still plenty in Bairnsdale, VIC

  • any left in sydney? :(

  • Any left in Brisbane?

  • any restock?

  • These deals bring out the worst in people. Smh at some of the comments

  • Went to my local Coles and they didn't seem to be on special anymore. Home cards where normal price

Edit: no I'm an idiot, there's 2 types of home cards 😂

  • Just in case anyone is interested, Big Swing Golf was added as a participating retailer for the TCN Active gift card earlier today.

Yeah, I never heard of them before today…

  • Does this include the multi value choice cards?

    • If you are referring to the variable load denomination of a Choice gift card (where you choose the amount you want to load onto the gift card), that is excluded from this deal.

Someone confirmed this the hard way.

  • +1

Anyone find any left in adelaide stores ?

  • My local woolies also no stock of Home cards. Probably stolen

    • TCN has blocked cards from WW in the past, not worth the risk.

  • I hope to woolworths do 15% off soon. Please 🙏🙏🙏

    • +2

      never

      • No way… how about Target or BigW
Last year they did if my memories are correct.

  • Does Jb hi-fi accept TCN gift cards as payment for delivery/shipping?

    • -1

Yes, did this with my IPhone 15

    • I just did a livechat with JBHIFI and they said TCN is in-store only

      • Live chat is technically correct, but there are workarounds.

        • Oh okay I messed up my first comment (I meant the jb hifi cards themselves, thanks for reminding me about the process of swapping the card)

  • +1

For those who have a tricky way to buy this TCN giftcard as grabbing the giftcard at Wollies/BigW some way and check out at Coles.
The card company system will track it and block the card by anyway.
So If you accidentally did it that way, redeem it immediately otherwise it will be get blocked and you lost your money.

    • Where are you getting that from? They can just decide your money is theirs. I haven't looked because I haven't done this, but I doubt there's anything in the T&Cs even remotely close to this.

      • Maybe you should educate yourself by reading comment on the very first 15% off deal post. You will have to go through the hassle of asking for refund. Don't mess with this TCN company, not worth the risk.

        • -1

Excuse me for not reading every comment of every deal ever posted and simply asking where the information came from.

Correction of my comment: They can't* just decide that your money is theirs. Evidently, they aren't, since they are refunding. Markbk's comment "you lost your money" is not correct.

  • +1

I haven’t even bothered to look in coles for this card. But I have seen in woolworths those shelf’s are empty. Even in my remote area and that was on day 1 in Wollongong

  • Dozens of cards at Cole's Kings Cross.

    Just grabbed 3 X 100 Home cards.

    • I’ve had lots of luck with that store in the past - must not be a popular choice

  • What happens if someone at Woolworths grab the empty cards and pay for them at Coles?

If it works I am not taking the fall…….LOL

    • +1

You are 3-4 days late for that “idea”

  • Managed to get 15x $100 card (2 housemates helping out to buy), but BCF system doesn't allow more than 5 cards at once. They locked it down.
