        • But this online only. If you buy instore can you still use those vouchers?

          • @neonlight: If you're buying in store you'd just use the TCN giftcards you bought I assume. They work like Eftpos cards i believe.

  • ooh, here we go again

  • So what are the card denominations for these?
It says it's not valid for "variable" amounts. So whats the max amount?

    • $100

    • I suggest you check this comment on the first page.

I will add that when I checked a different Coles yesterday, I saw Cinema and Pamper gift cards in the following denominations:

      • Cinema: $30, $50
      • Pamper: $50, $100
  • Anyone know that if you redeem the card for a “BCF voucher” if the voucher can be used in store or only online? (Does it have a scannable barcode or something?)

Going through comments on this and previous threads appears there is a 5 card limit if you are using the TCN branded ones in store.

According to the BCF website you can use unlimited BCF branded gift cards in store.

  • -1

Any of the cards can be used for grocery shopping at woolworths or coles?

  • The card selected for this promotions are not well stocked in my local Coles. They have abundant HIM and HER cards but not many teens or kids. (mainly 30 values). This will be hard to gather a decent amount

  • -1

Do the variable gift cards work too? Eg the ones that say $50-$500

    • +1

Look at title of the post

    • +2

You can use in store, but it can be cumbersome having to swipe and use each one individually. From what I read, it can depend on the patience of staff and other customers waiting in line.
Alternatively you can convert them to JB gift cards and use them all in a JB online purchase though.

  • Damn, in comparison to the ultimate gift card deal not long ago, where you could get 15% off 5 x $500 cards, this sucks. Wishing I got that now.

I agree. these sucks. will give it a pass

  • Is it ever possible to get gift cards to use at Harvey Norman that have this sort of discount?

  • Can these be bought with Coles Gift Cards I already got?

    • +1

I would be surprised if that worked, because Coles pushed out an update to their checkout systems in April 2023 to automatically block anyone trying to use any kind of gift card issued by Coles Group to pay for any gift cards. I have tried a handful of times since then, but I have only triggered the aforementioned blocks.

You could always test it out if you already have a Coles gift card.

  • What's to stop people from hiding some cards in-store now and then collecting them on Wed ?

    • +2

Human decency….so depending on the location of your Coles chances can range from NIL to pretty good.

      • I wouldn't personally do it, but that's what some staff effectively do by holding stock for themselves out the back of the store.

  • Does anyone know if 12 month game pass ultimate cards exist?

I was looking to purchase 3 years at JB with 15% off however upon searching, it looks like Microsoft doesn’t even off 12 months ultimate cards any longer.

I can find Gamepass Core 12 months, no ultimate 12, only 3.

  • Currently undecided if I should grab these gift cards in anticipation for getting the Mrs a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

I can try to negotiate price matches at JB but some of the best prices have been directly from Samsung via their app. Not sure JB will price match that. Would be risking $425 for a $75 saving.

  • In my local store, there is already no stock of 15% OFF eligible cards. I assume the store removed it to avoid hiding.

  • Do people actually hide the gift card in other sections?

    • +6

      Some people are a.holes

      • Complete chaos when Coles opened today, it didn’t look like I was in Australia.

      • Agree they also repeatly went back to get more than 5. Staff couldn't really stop them

  • -1

Could you get around the 5 card limit by using a self-serve checkout? Or do you need a human to activate them?

    • +1

gift cards wont work through self service

    • +1

Coles’ policy is that a customer cannot purchase more than 5 gift cards. You usually see this at the top of a gift card shelf (here is an example), although I have seen the same sign on display at the service desk of one store too.

Coles’ checkouts (whether self or standard) will not let you purchase more than 5 gift cards in one transaction. If you attempt to do this, you will get an error message on the 6th gift card you scan, and staff either cannot force the checkout to let you purchase more than 5 in one transaction.

There is no requirement in this deal to use a Flybuys card to access the discount, which means if you want to get around the limit of 5 gift cards per customer, you could purchase more gift cards in separate transactions, but that assumes staff will let you do this. Some food for thought:

      • Every single time I have purchased a gift card at Coles in the last few years at a self checkout, it required approval from a staff member.

      • The implementation of the Limit of 5 gift cards per customer condition will depend on the staff member’s interpretation of this restriction. Is this a per-visit restriction? Is this a per-day restriction? Is this a per-promotion restriction? Is this a per-household restriction? Will the staff members even enforce this limit? Who knows!

      • You could purchase 5 gift cards at one checkout, leave the store, come back a few minutes later and attempt to purchase 5 more gift cards at a different checkout. However, what happens if a staff member notices you doing this and decides to intervene?

      • Woolies is the same re requiring staff to authorise gift cards, I think even if you buy 1. When I bought 5 Apple GC's at Coles last time they had a deal on I got a lecture and a pamphlet about scams…

      • Giftcard purchase will require staff for activation. That was my experience so far at Coles.

Also my own experience, young Asian guys are the best staff to have around when buying giftcard ;), they don't fuss at all.

Middle age Caucasian women are the most difficult ones though… They'll repeat the rules to you even though you clearly knew the rules by not having more than 5 cards…

But they are the ones who normally hold the key of the cupboard behind the giftcard section, so you'll ask them and they'll be bring out more stock. Probably they're the store managers

      • Staff said they have been people can back in and buy again. Couldn't stop them only for 5 staff in the store early morning

    • +1

Just buy 5 don't be selfish bro leave some for the others

      • I'm not buying any. Just spitballing.

    Where is eBay gift card???

    • Wot

      • Any gift card for eBay purchase?

        • I really doubt it.

None of the multi-choice gift cards in this deal (e.g. Home, Active, Teen) feature eBay as a participating retailer. Additionally, AFAIK, none of the participating retailers accepting the multi-choice gift cards in this deal sell eBay gift cards.

Additionally, I would be extremely surprised if any of the experience gift cards in this deal (i.e. Good Food, Cinema, Pamper) worked on eBay, because:

          • The Good Food gift card only operates on the eftpos network and cannot be exchanged for the digital Mastercard version. eBay is unable to process any eftpos payments.

          • As explained earlier, I would be really surprised if either the Cinema or Pamper gift cards worked on eBay, as eBay should use an ineligible MCC (MCC 5311 - Department Stores).

  • Is there a way yet to add these physical cards to your Apple wallet?

    • you may need to download tcn app and add to apple wallet?
      https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/apple-pay

      • Yes, I have the app, but looks like you can't add physical cards to the app. I also can't work out how to delete cards with zero balance.

        • +2

You cannot add physical multi-choice TCN gift cards (e.g. Home, Active, Teen) to the TCN app. However, you can exchange most physical experience TCN gift cards (including Cinema and Pamper) for a digital Mastercard version, and I talk about this in more detail here.

TCN released a new version of their app on iOS and Android a couple of weeks ago that now lets you hide gift cards. When you tap on a gift card, underneath the gift card's available balance, you will see a Hide Card button. You still cannot delete gift cards from the TCN app, but hiding them should help you tidy up your TCN app's home screen.

          • @WookieMonster: Thanks for your wealth of knowledge as always. I've just downloaded the latest iOS version and still can't see the hide card option. It's annoying to see a card there with zero balance.

            • @unity1: I am running iOS app version 2.4.0 and Android version 2.4.3 and can see (and have used) the Hide Card feature on both.

              • @WookieMonster: I’m on the latest version too. I’ve either got a bug or I’m missing the obvious.

thanks for sharing, it’s about time - some TCN staff apparently have 300+ cards in their app (for work)

  • can this gift card be swapped into jb hifi gift cards or not?
planning to go in store to purchase some stuff

    • If you have a look at the TCN website, it currently says you can exchange TCN gift cards featuring JB Hi-Fi (e.g. TCN Home gift card) for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card through the TCN website.

      • can digital jb hifi gift cards be used in store @ jb?

    • +2

      Yes

  • There sure are a lot OzBargainers in my area.

I went on a reconnaissance mission to Coles to locate where the TCN Home gift cards are located… and must have seen about a dozen other people do the same thing!

In short, we were all disappointed as there are no $100 Home gift cards. Either someone has stashed them somewhere else in the store, the staff aren't taking them out till later, or they have no stock. Either way, I'm not gonna bother trying (especially when I don't know where I'm going to end up buying my wife's Fold 5 from). Saves me an early 7am stop at Coles on the way to work tomorrow.

    • +2

bargainers already shoplift them home. staff don't give a shit. it is a gift card, not gold nugget.

    • I go to coles every day to walk around and buy lunch/snacks and always kept an eye at the aisle. Didn’t notice anything unusual until this evening where literally every single $100 card is just gone. It’s a shitshow

      • Yeah, watch the complaints in this comments section tomorrow.

On the topic of lunch/snacks, I grabbed myself a Hawaiian tear and share to have for breakfast whilst it's still on sale. Figured I may as well have a win somewhere.

    • Hah did the same, went to 4x coles syd eastern suburbs, none had any $100 home/kids/teen, doubt I’ll bother with an early morning visit at open tomorrow

  • What a joke! All the $100 cards at my Coles are gone! I saw them this morning and also a few days ago but now they’re all gone. Unaustralian!

    • +1

      Unaustralian!

Australia needs to import less bargain hunters then.

  • What does "Excludes Variable Load" mean?

    • +2

"Excludes Variable Load" means the 15% discount will not apply to any of the gift cards in this deal where you can choose (or "vary") the amount you load onto the gift card at the time of purchase.

I think the only gift card in this deal sold in a variable load denomination at Coles is the Choice gift card, as that is sold at Coles in a $20-$500 variable load denomination.

      • Thank You @WookieMonster

So, it means I can only get the available value per card. But when buying digital gift cards, I can add whatever amount I want, which is "Variable Load".

        • It means that only the gift cards listed in this deal with fixed value (e.g. $30, $50, $100) are discounted by 15%.

When you purchase a digital equivalent to the TCN gift cards in this deal (e.g. digital TCN Home or digital Good Food), those are still sold in fixed value denominations, but you have more choice than the fixed value denominations sold at Coles. For the two examples I provided, a $500 fixed value denomination exists.

          • @WookieMonster: Hey Wookie,

Do you know if coles sell the digital version of the Good Food card? I just went in store and bought the first one I saw, and realised now it’s an EFTPOS card only, can’t add it to my apple pay( which is what I wanted).

My packaging was all white, I’m thinking the black looking card is the digital one?

            • @cloudy: I have never seen Coles sell a digital version of Good Food gift cards (nor a Mastercard version). AFAIK, you cannot exchange a physical eftpos version for a digital Mastercard version.

The “black looking one” is the old version of the Good Food gift card that is issued by a different company (i.e. not TCN).

  • Is the TCN HIM and HER card included in the 15% off discount at coles ??

    • I would be surprised if that was the case, because the catalogue terms and conditions states Excludes all other TCN Gift Cards not listed above. I do not see the TCN Him or TCN Her gift cards listed in the catalogue as being part of this deal.

There is nothing stopping you grabbing a TCN Him or TCN Her gift card tomorrow and scanning it at a checkout to see whether it is discounted, but my bet is that it will not be discounted.

    • Bought tcn her card thinking they are part of promotion but they are not si i bought $200 card with no discount :-( because as per coles staff you cant refund 3rd party item

      • happy to buy them off you for 15% off

  • Hi, my apologies if this is already explained before. I am a newbie here and I think i can only found different stories with buying apple gift card at JB Hi fI as it seems some people experiencing JB Hi Fi staff not allowing people to buy apple gift card using physical TCN card. Can anyone advise whether it's better to 1. buy TCN gift card and then try to pay for apple gift card at JB Hi Fi in store using TCN physical card or 2. is it better to use the TCN physical card to pay for the JB Hi Fi physical gift card in store then buy the physical apple gift card with the physical JB Hi Fi gift card in store? Paging @Wookiemonster if they are available 🙏

    • I think (1) is better than (2).

With (1), you only need to tell the staff member you want to pay using a card. Of course, if the staff member is caring enough to keep an eye on what you want to use as a payment method, they will see you are trying to swipe a TCN gift card on the EFTPOS terminal. There is not really a "stealthy" way to redeem a physical TCN gift card.

With (2), that is needlessly complicated, because there will be two transactions where you hope the staff member does not care about you using a gift card to purchase another gift card. When you go to redeem a digital or physical JB Hi-Fi gift card at JB Hi-Fi, you have to tell the staff member that you have a gift card you want to redeem, otherwise the EFTPOS terminal will not be able to redeem your card. You could save some hassle by going to the TCN website and exchange your TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card, but then the problem is that you will then be reliant on a staff member letting you use a JB Hi-Fi gift card to purchase an Apple gift card. That is specifically allowed in the JB Hi-Fi gift card terms and conditions, but the same terms and conditions also say that a staff member can refuse to let you redeem a JB Hi-Fi gift card if they think something fraudulent may be happening…

      • -1

There is a stealthy way if you're an iPhone user: Apple Pay. TCN Gift Cards can be loaded into Apple Pay. I did this last time to convert them to Apple GC's… the staff have no way to know what I'm using.

        • Please explain to me how you can add a physical TCN Home / Teen / Kids gift card from this deal to Apple Pay.

      • Thanks for your comment. Just wondering with no 2, if you go buy the JB Hi Fi card with TCN card at one JB Hifi store and then go to a different store to then buy apple gift card using the JB Hi Fi card, would this make it a safer option than option no. 1 (albeit would be more complicated and time consuming)?

        • Why would you go to one JB Hi-Fi store to use TCN gift cards to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards? You can go to the TCN website and do this.

Going to two separate stores to purchase gift cards using gift cards in two separate transactions sounds like far too hassle to me.

          • @WookieMonster: If i purchase the JB Hi Fi card through TCN website does that mean i can only get the electronic gift card version of JB Hi FI? Can i buy physical apple gift card with JB Hi Fi digital gift card? I need the physical apple gift card as i bought an iphone at apple in store already that comes with the telcom carrier’s discount and i intend to return the phone and buy it again using the apple gift card.

            • @Bluelight2890:

If i purchase the JB Hi Fi card through TCN website does that mean i can only get the electronic gift card version of JB Hi FI?

              Yes.

Can i buy physical apple gift card with JB Hi Fi digital gift card?

Physical and digital JB Hi-Fi gift cards are considered the same by JB Hi-Fi in terms of redemption. When you go to redeem either, you must tell the staff member you want to use a gift card. If you instead tell a staff member you want to use a card and swipe a physical JB Hi-Fi gift card on the EFTPOS terminal, it will not work.

The same guidance applies as before: if you have a physical or digital JB Hi-Fi gift card, the gift card terms and conditions say you can use it to purchase a third party gift card, but there is also the clause where a staff member can stop you if they reasonably believe something fraudulent is going on.

  • out of topic question..sorry fellas.

is we can use the coles celebration gift cards to purchase any other gift cards(like tcn) from office works? (currently officeworks is one of the celebration gift card participant)

    thanks mate

    • I would be really surprised if that worked.

      • It is against Officeworks' gift card policy to use any type of gift card to purchase a gift card at Officeworks.

      • Officeworks started rolling out an update to their instore checkouts in June 2023 to automatically block anyone from using an Ultimate or Celebration gift card to purchase any gift cards. Attempting to do this will see an Invalid Product Mix error message pop up on the EFTPOS terminal, plus the staff member will see a message on their screen saying that you cannot use a gift card type payment method.

      • It appears Officeworks has blocked people from using Ultimate or Celebration gift cards to pay for gift cards sold on their online store or over the phone.

      • +1

        thanks very much mate

  • Is this Australia wide? I had a look at my local catalogue and couldn't find it. I'm in Hobart, Tasmania.

  • Anyone have experience using multiple cards at Rebel Sport?
