    • Coles in high populated areas usually put these gift cards in the register instead of on the shelves, so they'll know if you steal it then come back for paying and activating it.

    • I'm more than sure that some people do that.

I once saw a coles staff refusing to activate a gift card claiming that it was brought into the store by the customer as it was sold out in that store.

  • can we use our flybuy points to redeem gift cards? if not then it's ridiculous. All the hard work, I earned it.

    • no.
      no for this discount

    • Coles has bonus Flybuy points now for some TCN cards: https://experience.flybuys.com.au/rewards/store/category/?ca…

The bonus points (not including any potential base points, which are 0.5%) amount to a 10% discount on the TCN gift cards, so not as good as the 15% discount here (which is immediate, off the face value of the card).

Don't know if this offer suits you?

  • +1

Damn, I was hoping one of them would apply to Total Tools.

    • Anyone can buy it, even people who are total tools.

      🥁

  • +2

With limit of 5 per customer (unless you go back multiple times), it is hard to buy enough for buying a big ticket item at jb. I also had a hard time finding $100 ones last time. Also, some online stores would require you to convert them into their store voucher first. You need to contact TCN and that will take a day or two for TCN to get back to you. Quite a hassle if you ask me but hey it is 15% off.

  • Eastern culture already been to Coles miranda inside and outside. No cards or no $100 Mastercards lol

  • +3

Last time I went to buy these, the checkout ladies manning self service. Told me “ you can only buy 5, and don’t come back!!!” in a very snarky, condescending tone like I stole the bloody things

    Great deal, bitchy staff…

    • +1

Can you self checkout with these?

      • +2

You can but you need the checkout ladies to enter in their code for it to activate, otherwise your card isn’t active

    • Its disrespectful but at the same times she probably dealt with lots of people who keep coming back on the same day

      • Like the scum bags that use to strip the shelfs of baby formula to sell over seas, leaving nothing for mothers here.

  • Newbie question
Can I use this card and combine it with the last egift card from close to purchase in JB HIFI?

    Thanks

  • +1

Can we use the coles mastercard to purchase these?

    • Isn’t that just a regular credit card? Why wouldn’t that work?

    • A good question, as they are sometimes rejected in other scenarios.

  • What gift cards do I need to keep an eye out for that includes Google Play Store?

  • +2

Hey guys, guess what? Your browser has this super-secret, highly advanced feature, almost like magic! Just hold down the 'Control' key (it's the one labeled 'Ctrl', just in case) and, while holding it, press 'F'. Doing this, a search box appears! Now, here's the kicker: if you type the name of the store into this box, it will tell you if it's mentioned in the post. I know, I know, it's like living in the future!

    • +3

Instructions unclear, no crtl or control key on an iPhone. :/

      /jk

  • I assume 5 per transaction not per customer.
Any brought these via self service checkouts?
Cause more and more stores just have self serve

    • +1

Copying from a comment above: you need the checkout ladies to enter in their code for it to activate, otherwise your card isn’t active

    • +1

It's per customer, the coles rep will need to unlock the self serve for you to pay, whether its 2 cards or 5 cards.

Also, it depends on the rep, they will stop you buying more than 5. If you get a nice rep, they will let you purchase more than 5.

If they stop you buying more than 5, check out 5 from self serve, go back in and then check out 5 from a cashier so you get a different rep.

  • Is good food gift card available to use at any restaurant like digital card or only selected restaurant? Can we swap it to digital?

  • do you reckon coles staff get their usual discount on top of this?

    • No, discount card doesn't work for gift cards.

    • do you reckon coles staff get their usual discount on top of this?

if so, what's the chance for someone to find then hide the cards in frozen? Coles staff would have hidden it already.

  • Can I use a TCN card to purchase Apple gift cards at JB Hi-Fi in-store?

If not (because they do not allow gift cards to buy other gift cards), can I "hide" the fact that I am using a TCN card by adding it to Google Wallet, and then buy Apple gift cards in-store by using my phone to tap and pay? (I did this using Ultimate Gift Cards last year)

    • +1

      Yes

      And yes.

      • I did not know you could add a physical TCN multi-retailer gift card (e.g. TEEN gift card, HOME gift card) to a mobile wallet. How do you do that?

        • Errr. I stand corrected, was half sleepy.
Sorry, NO to the second qn, only able to swipe at checkouts with TCN physical. I sometimes get confused thinking this was Ultimate GC 😅
Regardless, just go in there and swipe it in, very unlikely for them to reject you, even if they do just stand your ground or go to another JB. It works

  • anyone planning to use this to buy soomething from apple store? if so, am i correct in assuming the process is: Buy tcn giftcard -> Use at jb hi fi to buy apple gift card?

    • 💯

    • Why not use the cards at Jbhifi itself to buy apple products?

      • Stock, back to school promos

      • +1

Apple Education prices, better warranty treatment, stock level..

    • +1

Also wondering if we can use the TCN gift cards to buy physical apple gift cards :/

  • Looking to buy an iPhone 15 Pro. Sounds like I'll need to get around 19 $100 cards. Which would mean going back to Coles at least 4 times. And that's assuming that the one one store close to me (I'm in a regional area) has that many. Don't think it's going to work for me unfortunately, but decent discount all the same.

  • +3

It seems Teens and Kids ones are only $30/$50, can't find $100. Home may have $100 but no stock I can find.

  • Excellent, hopefully my coles will stock their shelves

  • no tool shops like total tools or mitre10 discounts

  • Noob question, if there's a limit of 5 gift cards per customer how do people use these to pay for expensive items like oled tvs and so on?

    • +2

Multiple shops? this isnt a limit when you redeem your gift card, this is a limit Coles sets for you to buy the gift card. Just buy in separate batches

    • +3

Bring your whole extended family buying 5 each and do Coles hopping for more.

    • You buy separate batches of 5. Depends on the coles rep, one coles rep stopped me from buying more than 5 because I was alone. But another rep from another store didn't stop me from buying 10

If you're doing it solo, best to try do 10 in one go and see what the rep says. Then you buy 5, go to the next store, try buy more than 5 if not, buy 5 and rinse and repeat until you get a nice rep that doesn't care about the max 5 GCs

    • a lot of my friends don't need this so I send them money and ask them to help me buy at their local

  • Does anyone know if we can use the Coles $100 mastercard gift card to purchase these TCN cards at coles? Or are they specifically excluded?

    • Think you cannot pay with the Mastercard giftcards…

    • Probably not, but if you have a Westfield gift card, you can pay with that (as I've done before, I think).

  • +2

Ah shit. Here we go again.

    • +1

Prepare to be negged to hell 🤣

  • +4

Perhaps all gift cards should be behind a locked glass panel?

    • all this would do is cause a bunch of monkeys to start screaming at each other and throw faeces

  • Noob question but if I was looking at buying a camera from JB Hifi with these that's over $1000 and wanted to claim trs when i go overseas in January, what would I need to do? I see on the Border Force website that the tax invoice needs my name on it for items over 1k. Is this something I can ask for in-store when I pay?

Has anyone got any experience doing this before?

    TIA

Edit: just saw on the jb website that they can send the receipt to your jb/perks account if you provide your number when purchasing but i logged in to check and the receipt doesn't have a name on it, any ideas or experiences?

    • You can ask them to add in your info when you pay at the counter. It will appear on the receipt and will be fine.

      • Ok, thanks. Appreciate it

    • You can contact the store who will ask you to send them an email providing your full name as per the passport so that they can prepare an official invoice in your name which they will email back to you. Save the hassle of going back in store again.

    • How did you hide them?

  • I haven't bought gift cards in a while. Is there still an activation fee?

  • does anyone know if you can use these on jbhifi online?

    • +1

There is a comment earlier in this deal that answers your question.

      • thank you :). D you know if its possible to exchange multiple ultimate gift cards into a 1 jbhifi e voucher?

        • That is not possible.

Wait, do you mean Ultimate or TCN?

          • @WookieMonster: Sorry I meant TCN gift cards. I plan to buy multiple (20+) and exchange them for a jbhifi e gift voucher via the tcn website. I can add multiple tcn cards into 1 single jb hi fi voucher right?

            • @cheapskate22: AFAIK, you cannot exchange multiple TCN gift cards into one JB Hi-Fi gift card on the TCN website; you can only exchange one TCN gift card into one JB Hi-Fi gift card on the TCN website.

As @noelhoi already told you below, you could into a store and attempt to do this, but there is a chance staff will refuse your request.

        • +2

The only possibility to consolidate multiple GCs into one big one, is if you go instore and ask to load JB GC with your specified amount, then pay it with your multiple Ultimate/TCN GCs, but that would also be a physical JB GC not e-GC, provided the staff allows you.

          • @noelhoi: They won’t if it’s using gift cards, I tried. Wouldn’t even let me buy one $20 jb card with the two Ultimates they charged wrong and left $10 on each.
I believe Wookie said you can try if you don’t say and just swipe and pin like it’s a credit card but don’t know how successful that would be if using more than one.

  • +1

People buying 20 or whatever it is, I have this fear that even loosing a few would make the whole deal unworthwhile.

  • +5

@WookieMonster love ya work. I'm very interested in knowing what compels you to be so knowledge about the TCN gift cards?

    • +10

Dont be mistaken human. Wookie is the GC god, not otherwise limited to only TCN cards.

    • What was the answer to this I missed it lol

    • Yes. I want to know too

  • -3

I pray to those who gets a nice rep that lets you do more than 5 cards.

One coles employee stopped me purchasing more than 5 cards, but the other coles was nice and let me purchase 10

  • Can these cards be added to your digital wallet on the phone?

    • +2

For Teen, Kids, Baby, Home, Active, Shop, Choice & Good Food gift cards in this deal, no.

For Cinema and Pamper gift cards, yes. The ones in this deal cannot be directly added to a mobile wallet, as they all operate on the eftpos network. However, you can exchange physical Cinema and Pamper gift cards for the digital Mastercard version that can be added to Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet. To do this:

      • Go to this website.
      • Go to the webpage for the gift card you have.
      • Click/tap on Register and then fill in the form on the new tab/window to register the gift card. (Apparently registering the gift card is a prerequisite to exchanging it.)
      • Go back to the webpage for the gift card you have.
      • Scroll down to Pay safer and faster using your mobile wallet.
      • Click/tap on Go Digital and fill out the exchange form.
      • If i buy the cinema, pamper gc and convert them to mastercard and put it in apple pay. Will i be able to use that in apple store to buy applecare or anythinh else?

        • I highly doubt it.

The TCN Cinema and Pamper gift cards are restricted to only work at merchants using specific Merchant Category Codes (MCCs).

Cinema gift cards have a specific list of MCCs that should be related to cinemas, and Pamper gift cards have a different specific list of MCCs that should be related to pampering and health.

Apple should use a completely unrelated MCC (most likely MCC 5732 - Electronic Sales), so if you try to use a Cinema or Pamper gift card at Apple, TCN should decline the transaction. That would make sense if you think about it, because Apple as a merchant cannot really be categorised as a “cinema” or a “pamper/health” merchant.

  • Damn, I have a shed load of Flybuys points but I assume I cant use them to buy these gift cards right?

  • Just had a look in the giftcard isle, anyone know whether the ones labelled ‘Gift card’ in silver font and black are part of this promo? Cant seem to figure out what kind of card it is. It is definitely a TCN one, and not variable load.

  • Can I use multiple card at jbhifi? Looking to buy TCL c845

    • +3

I suggest you read this comment on the first page of comments on this deal.

      • +2

It would appear then that easiest way to do this if you have lots of cards then is:

        1. Go to TCN and swap them all to Online JB HI FI vouchers
        2. Purchase your item via JB HI FI website and use all the vouchers

Saves you and a staff member having to sort through 20 gift cards in person.
