Refurb or bust. Ordered 2 pairs (XM4 and XM5) and they both looked completely new, genuinely can't tell if they have ever been used, and we're something like $70 cheaper than new.
My Wf-1000XM3 the buds. suddenly have very poor battery life.

Same here. No idea. Tried replacing batteries. Didn’t help. Try hard reset and disabling noise cancelling and DDSE to see if it helps. It seems better to me after doing those.
Google said probably because the new firmware, it kind of damaging the battery?
Same here. Barely lasts an hr now. So replacing batteries did nothing? That's pretty bad. What's the point nc Earbuds that you can't use NC on.
Regretted selling my XM4 for the crappy XM5.

Why ppl buy this for full price when they give box damaged brand new ones for 100$ cheaper?
Not having a whinge but my refurb XM5's definitely werent box damaged. They work perfectly, but there was some guys hair in the earcups and some staining on the case and earpads. Infact they didnt even came in a box for the product, they just threw the case in a cardboard box.
I did get Sony to send me some replacements earpads for free though.
Obviously you bought refurb not box damaged and should expect as such. They are different categories (and priced accordingly). I’d expect box damaged being brand new item inside but refurb, technically used, there’s a pot luck chance of some minor marks. With my refurb, there was no mark but stunk cigarette.
Where can you buy discounted box damaged ones?
From the Sony store when they have stock and advertise with “box damaged” in the title.

Thanks op. Didn't mind a refurb (willing to try it) but with the gcx 6% eBay offer plus the tourist refund scheme which generally won't be available on <$300 refurb prices, I've finally bit the bullet
Remind me how the tourist refund works again? I'm heading off to The States next week and should look to get involved.
I haven't travelled overseas (and processed a GST claim) since 2018 but expect the process to be roughly the same. This is a useful resource
