  • Say $51.99 for me …

  • +4

    I'm seeing $51.99. No deal.

  • +1

yeah, it looks like $51.99 ?

  • +1

Anyone used this? Worth bothering when you gave google maps?

    • +2

It works even without the data connection. Like a real GPS, provided your mobile supports it.

      • the GPS on your phone obviously does too though, you can preload areas of a map if you need to. To be honest I don't understand why people need their hands held by GPS' anyway, but I guess this is a good deal if you do.

      • +5

Newsflash, Google maps can also work without a data connection. You just need to enable offline maps.

        • Please explain.

You have to select the area you want to be downloaded (I selected all of Melbourne) and it takes a few minutes to download all the data. Works perfectly on my phone and tablet. Recommend that you use wifi.

  • They haven't updated it yet I guess. This will give you an idea.

sadly doesnt work on my Nexus and Nexus 7. Would have love to buy it

  • updated the link

    • its still not $1.99

      • So was it a typo, or not yet active?

    • Still $51.99.

  • If this is true, I'm so getting it for my 7 inch Tab 2! (still shows $52) Seems like a great deal for 2 bucks…

    • Oh wait looks like it doesnt like my tablet boohoo.

Will the iOS app go on sale too? Also currently still showing $52 on the play store.

  • Still showing $51.99 for me too

  • your link still show AU$51.99 BUY. Is that something mis-reading?

  • +1

wonder if thats just for the software then you have to buy the maps ontop of that… link you are using is showing 50+ bux…

  • +4

says $51.99… has op missed the 5 in the price…? don't know why they would even potentially sell it so damn low…

  • +1

Good deal but it doesn't work on hires devices.

Would be a steal if you could link it into the Free Lifetime Maps deal. unfortunately, I suspect you will need to buy new maps as the roads change.

    • if its like the iOS app they update the maps semi-regularly thru app updates for free

    • no you don't need to buy the maps. tomtom regularly update the maps through the app. But when there is a major change they will update the app version. Its all free for one initial price.

  • Only works with mobile with 800 x 480 and 854 x 480 resolutions, so probably wont work most of the latest flagship devices such as the S3, HTC one X or even the Nexus 7. Should work with the older Nexus one though if anyone has one of those lying around.

    • People have sideloaded it onto N7s and says it works. Not sure if that is at the right resolution though.

Frankly it's pretty poor if they can't deliver resolution independence - almost as if they have dumb ported an iphone app…..

      • +1

        The iOS version supports 320x480, 640x960, 1024x768 and 2048x1536.

  • Take a look at Sygic. It's a much better GPS app for the price.

    • isnt sygic free?

      • +1

7 day trial I think, dont know how much they charge after that

        • It's about $40 for Aus and NZ

    • +1

I've got it on my iPhone and still prefer tomtom.

    • I own Sygic and strongly recommend saving your Oz $'s by using free Google maps.

  • +4

Just use Navigon on Samsung Android phones… it's free?

    • +2

yeah that's what I use on my S2, works a treat!

  • Incompatible with HTC Legend, HTC Desire HD, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and on top of that the maps looks crap compared to others, oh and the price is crap.

    Look at MetroView for $19.80.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.metroview.…

This Tom Tom rubbish is just that.

  • Damn, only bought the Garmin Nuvi50 2 weeks ago with lifetime Maps.
Tempted on this, can anyone please confirm if it will be shared across all your Android account's hardware, I am sure in the near future they will have to include update to compatible list such as the S3…..if they don't go out of business, and I hope not. I remember paying $700 for a top of line Tomtom many years ago and still have to pay extra for the maps upgrade, so how can they all stay in business if nobody pays for new maps anymore with all the lifetime maps going around Tomtom and Garmin?

    • From what I've read so far they plan to include the higher end android phones by end of this year. No idea about sharing the license between multiple android devices though, you might have to confirm that with Tom Tom.

  • +5

    $1.99 = Deal
    $51.99= No Deal

    • +4

      +1.

If you only want Australian map in GPS, MetroView is the best value one to get (unless you already have Navigon for free).

    • +1

Where's the bargain ?? this is even more expensive than TomTom for US !!

  • -1

Just get Sygic. Its free, has all the same features and works really well
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sygic.aura

    • +2

      Is it free??

      7 DAYS TRIAL
✓Unlimited license in-app purchase in menu My Sygic

  • I have both Navigon and Metro View on the iphone, Metroview is heaps better and cheaper

    • although metroview sometimes takes a scenic route, like Apple maps…

  • Hmm. Can't afford a high res phone, but can afford to pay $51.99 for an app.

    Google navigation ftw.

    • Relying on data ftl.

      • offline map mode being included in google maps/navigations for quite a while now ftw.

iGO (v9.6.7) Primo 2.0 is available for Android in resolutions up to 1920x1200 and has a version compatible with Jelly Bean. Australia Maps are v19.1 as well. Check neoman.org for further information on compatibility. Works great on my HTC One X. Internal memory+data footprint is just 18Mb, the rest resides on sdcard (or equivalent directory).

  • lol, TomTom are done, let's be honest.

    • Apparently TomTom sold GPS data to the RTA so they can use it to place the speed Camera.
