  I feel like after years of making the home user not wanting to print anymore - cheaper devices with bad drivers, to multi funtions with bad functions, to inks and cartridges that 'expire' and cant be refilled or reused….. printers are slowly coming back to what the consumer wants…. except we print less and less every year now….. so the cheap broken thing is more than enough…..

  I've been using brother (B/W) for a while. I caught up with few close friends over the weekend and literally discussed ET-8550 (the bigger brother of ET-8500). The bottle will last forever and it's a really good printer for photos and color printouts. I immediately bought one this morning just because I was so attempted since yesterday's catchup. However I cancelled it around lunch beaten by rationale. I've only printed 1 color document (for training) in the past 2 years and I have printer at work readily to use on the mandated office days so really cannot justify the price. I guess if this was $200, I would've kept my order without a blink.

  Awesome printer , printed around 130 A4 photos and some documents , the grey dipped below half and the rest are still 90% full.
  Inks last much more than I imagined .

    After a year of owning this, I feel inks dip way too low too fast - especially when doing normal office B&W prints.
    Print quality of colour photos etc. are perfect - cannot fault.

  Worth noting the ET-8550 is only $899 at Ted's, that does A3+ for those wanting to do some larger art style prints, I grabbed one the other day to replace a 20+ year old Cannon Pixma that I couldn't be bothered buying yet another set of cartdridges for.
