    • Yeah! For me I went from a base model Intel MBA from 2015 so it's definitely a good upgrade :)

    Thanks! I was able to cancel and return the Officeworks click and collect order I had ready to collect and rebuy with the price beat

    Frustrating that you never see a single deal for the 16gb one, it's almost as if they know no one really wants to buy a 8gb one, and has to be sold at a discount

    • It’s because most 16gb models are custom options that aren’t stocked at retailers. Great business model for Apple because it further encourages people to purchase directly.

  • Tomorrow Apple are having a deal where you get a $320 Apple gift card when buying a MacBook. I just checked, it’s about $1800 for a 16GB M1 Air, so that would equate to about $1480 factoring in the gift card. Seems better than the M2 8GB from OW? Assuming you would make good use of the gift card for something you were intending on buying anyway.

    The bigger issue (as opposed to 8GB RAM) is the storage is around half the speed of the M1 Macs with 256GB.

    This is because Apple was using two 128GB memory chips for storage on the 256GB for the M1, but with the M2 they went to one 256GB.

    In benchmarks it is just under half the speed, in practical use it's not that big of a jump, but it's noticeable if you're doing anything that utilizes the disk. (e.g macos updates, transferring files, etc.).

  • Anyone paid with multiple ultimate e-gift cards? Do you need to go to the physical store?

    • When I rang to price match at officeworks they said I can only pay using credit card.

      • Is this in their price beat conditions? Can’t pay cash either?

        • Not sure, just after checking the competitors price and agreed to beat it by 5% she said credit card only to purchase the item. Maybe this is over the phone only?

          • @Master Haggler: I couldn’t see anything in the t&c about having to pay by credit card. Still undecided whether to get this anyway

    Rang Officeworks and they price matched this. Thanks OP.

  • You could also try price beat or 120% refund of of 60 days price guarantee with retravision

    Just bought M1 gold at Officeworks pitt st, price matched down to $1139

    Cheers

  • Would JB Hi-fi also price match on this?

    • Tried this at JB Hi-fi Chat and they said it's grey market import, so they won't price match. Don't know if it is grey market or not, but I didn't waste my time arguing.

    I called earlier and was told to come to Officeworks for price beat. Turned up and show them the site and got it for the website price and the 5% price beat. Going to click collect later on another store as they don't have stock there.

    Only option to price beat is the midnight colour. Officeworks only have stock of the midnight for the M2.

  • Update, WO won't beat it. Their excuse was the model numer mismatch with their stock.

    • The website -> MLY33X/A-BN
      Officeworks -> MLY33X/A

      This is officework Alexandria, postcode 2015.

      The staff mentioned that whoever beated this price, gonna got themselves into troubles.

      Sounds dodgy, gonna try other store tomorrow.

      • What is the difference? Does the A-BN mean anything?

      • I got denied (OW Southport) ‘as the retailer sells used stuff’

        • +1

          I got the price beat by changing to another OW.

  • Officeworks refused to price beat this yesterday when I tried.
    Reasons included internal comms about EE using out of Australia stocks, not authorised reseller and charging for change of mind which makes the product with same product code a different product and can't be matched.
