Great value for a gaming SSD.

  • Must resist and wait for 4tb.

    • I got as far as 5 minutes..

      • haha… I was too tempted, I got up my desk and simply went for dinner to get rid of that temptation.

  • one day 8tb tlc at these prices

    Other Technical Details
Hard Drive Rotational Speed ‎5400 RPM - interesting :) sounds like its a FAST SSD

can someone tell me what the difference are between these type of drives and the NVME ones which are 6-8 times the speeds and prices are similar. wouldnt it be better to get the other type, or is there something else that makes these preferable

not all applications/cases/boards/enclosures allow for use of other form factors.

if you need a 2.5” sata drive that’s what y need

    • you get this if you don't have nvme m.2 slot

    • They're literally a different shape with different connectors, they're not interchangeable. Depending on what you have in your machine and what you're trying to do will determine what to buy.

    • difference is the interface, sata interface is much slower than current nvme interface.

But all that is largely irrelevant for these cheaper drives, the nand flash chips will saturate long before you saturate even the lower sata limit.

If you are buying drives at this price point you are not looking to maximise read/write speeds & the interface has more to do with what slots you have empty, buy whatever is cheapest per tb

Is this a joke? Has no one heard of the massive problems with SanDisk ssds at present? Will never buy again
I've had 3 die in 6 months widely known faults caused by poor quality construction by SanDisk

Has no one heard of the massive problems with SanDisk ssds at present?

Isn't that only about a specific external drive model?

      • Nope

        • Can you list all the models you encountered issues? The recent news is mostly about external SSDs. There aren't that many internal Sandisk SSDs being sold currently in Australia.

            @netsurfer: No sorry google it.

@Wayne7497: I did and that's why people are asking you. You "had" 3 died in 6 months so can you list those Sandisk SSD models?

    • i got a 240gb sandisk ssd plus from 2018 , still working as boot drive.

  • How does this compare for $23 more but therefore local stock https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/d…

    • I'd go Crucial every day of the week.

    • +2

mx500 much better with 2gb dram cache for the 2tb model

this sandisk ssd plus is dramless , using slc nand as cache

      • Actually I think the 2tb version has Dram

        • Interesting. Yes you're right, i stand corrected based on the reddit post referencing a source from german site showing the 2tb got refreshed with marvell controller and 512mb dram cache.

Also mention of the silicon lottery between tlc and qlc nand, 2 different version exist for this model.

          • @dcep: yeah I think the TLC/QLC variants is making me hold off on this. Anyone have experiences with warranty for products from amazon? i know international purchases can be an issue.

  • +1

sandisk ssds and usb drives have the most problems

  • I need to upgrade and first time posting but isnt this better for that price range?

    or this?

Please let me know your thoughts so I can decide what to buy.
