haha. what if they throw this in the bin??? They wont stop smoking. instead they will stop using this ashtray..!!!

  • +1

this is how smoking should be deterrent, using guilt and shame not making it essentially illegal to do a legal thing and collecting big bucks off of it..

    • +2

If the big bucks that are collected from smokers is put directly towards the healthcare of ailing smokers, then I think it's a perfectly acceptable deterrent.

I don't know many smokers who find their habit shameful…

I don't know many smokers who find their habit shameful

If they quit and get a whiff of just how utterly abhorrent the feral stench they used to create is, they just might.

        • +4

Agree, smokers seem completely immune to the smell and general revolting-ness. It attaches to their clothes or something, so they get used to it.

        • +5

Nowhere near as putrid as the smell of someone's breath when they are drunk.

Have been without cigarettes for about three weeks now, but I can honestly say that receiving the 'present' of someone forcing their values on me would most likely result in me smoking more around that person than less.

        • +1

It's the trifecta that is unbeatable, drunk smoker who hasn't had an encounter with a bar of soap for some time.

        • +3

We don't hate smokers we hate smokers, smoking around us… if they want to kill themselves with terminal cancer that's fine just don't force an early painful death on people around you!

        • I don't hate drinkers, I hate drinkers who drink around me… if they want to kill themselves with terminal liver cancel or drunk driving that's fine, just don't force an early painful death on people around you.

It's one thing to suggest passive smoking in the workplace or from family members who you live with might increase your chances of cancer.. Something entirely different to say that a bit of smoke from someone standing a couple of meters from you at the traffic lights is going to give you cancer. Overall cars are probably having a much heavier impact on your chances of contracting cancer than any occasional wafts of smoke you catch walking down the street or sitting outside a cafe.

        • +1

But how rude is is when you're walking down the street and you cop a big blow of smoke in your face? Makes me want to punch them in the throat and get it over with.

I went to uni where it seems like nearly half the population smoked. They milled around the doors of nearly every building on campus. I would love to see some actual tests done, but it seems like I came home after a day and had passively smoked at least one cigarette. If it was just one or two people, it wouldn't be an issue, but when there are such a huge proportion of idiots who still take up the habit - it's a problem.

      • +1

Except the tax taken from tobacco and cigarettes is more than the health cost that smokers impose.

  • Smokers feel no guilt nor shame, this product should be marketed as a mold for Play-Dough.

Ibuzone should stick to selling Linger!e.

  • +12

How about an ashtray where you can record a smokers child saying "Mummy, I miss Daddy, ever since he died from smoking".

    • +1

Mummy musn't have introduced his new 'Uncle' from the Trailer next door.

      • +6

I'll buy that just to deter me from ever having kids

  • Do they have BROKEN HEART shape Ashtray?

    • no..that comes as a plate :)

    • Sold out the week after valentines day sorry.

I bought one of these from Jaycar a few years ago.

It was a gift for a couple who had recently taken up smoking again.

But the first one i got didn't work at all. I returned it for an easy replacement that worked great. Only problem was by that time the couple had found out they were pregnant and as such had given up smoking anyway.

I don't know any smokers who are gross enough to use ashtrays without lids so i still have the coughing lungs.

The coughing and spluttering noises are pretty cool. It works using little light sensors so that when they ash over the top of it that blocks out the light. Warning: that means that at night it will also cough and splutter when you turn out the lights in the room.

A while ago I grabbed some brain shaped ice cube trays, then passed around brain ice to my friends during one of their alcohol parties. I told them they could now watch their brains shrink. We all had a good laugh.

    • -3

      hahaha whaaa?

Good News Everyone! I've invented the Brain Icecube machine!

      Ice ice baby.

    • +4

What on earth is an "alcohol party"?

  • +5

i thought smokers recycled the ashes from ashtrays to use as a fragrance. eau de ashtraye. that's how they smell at least.

  • got one…

  • +1

All they need now is a cancer ash try lol.

  • I don't see the true target market of this product, it seems like a pure novelty gift.

Those who can appreciate the humour, are probably not smokers, and would have no use for the ash tray.

Those who have a use for the ash tray, probably won't appreciate being mocked as they use it.

To be honest, I wouldn't even gift this to someone, it's either insulting their inability to quit successfully, or just making a passive aggressive statement about their smoking.

    • Well put. I agree.

  • +1

    Bought one

My mother, and one of my closest friends comes around a lot and they are smokers, so i've been meaning to buy an ashtray for a while.

    This one is perfect ;)

  • This ash tray makes me want to take up smoking again.

  • Perfect for Halloween, which is end of October.

    • +1
