  • Thanks. Nice find.

  • Good deal for a pretty reliable wifi mesh system in my experience.

  • Hi Awesome people, Can I use these Deco M5 as Wireless Access Points with ASUS RT-AX55 (AX1800) as Main Router?

    • +4

You can configure the Deco M5 as Wi-Fi access points or pair another Asus RT to form a mesh network.

        Thanks @Twix

        • -1

With a 2-pack, you'll have 1 Deco connected to the ASUS by cable and another one as your mesh, in case you were thinking that you can place the Deco anywhere and it will seamlessly mesh with the Asus RT.
You'll also end up with 2 sets of local IPs and 2 DHCP servers

  • Can this be a primary router or is it just means to extend the range of the first modem/router in the household?

    • +5

they all can act as primary or extend

  • Do these have the same issues as some of the cheaper models when losing WAN connectivity? (Ethernet ports stop working)

    • +2

Not in my experience. Going 2 years now I think.

      • Ditto. have had this 1 year with a 3pc system. works great

    • In my experience - yes they do.
I have a reasonably reliable internet connection but the 4 or 5 times it's not been available the LAN is not useable at all.

Something about "refurbished" electrical devices that are most likely left on for 24/7 that concerns me 🔥

    • what about refurbished phones?

    • +3

      you switch off your router?!

    • Youre only going to do that yourself for the next many many years so these ones have just got a litle start.

  • Nice find. I have a double brick house and need more to improve the mesh. Should be interesting to see where it paths the signals.

  • Sold out as I was checking out. Bugger

  • It’s OOS lol wtf

  • Another glorious ozbargain stock takedown!

  • Great deal no surprise it's OOS

  • I got it a few weeks before black friday for a tiny bit cheaper, from the same seller

It came with the original box and still had plastic wrap on the device itself. But it is pretty obvious that it has been used for a while, the device and box is noticeably discoloured.

Works fine though, I'm using it with the x68 to extend the range to my backyard

    • Yeah I was after one for my backyard and one for the garage so not too worried if they aren't in mint condition.

  • Was in the market for some smoke alarms… got tricked :)

Fantastic price. I've been using these for a few years now and they are excellent.

  • My M4s are very reliable. These M5s would be good too.

  • While on the topic.. I'm signing with more telecom nbn and they give free one eero mesh. I'm confused as it says come with one year subscription only. What happen after one year can I still use it?

    • The 1 year thingo looks to be an "eero Secure subscription" in addition to the router. You can use the router without the subscription but you will just have to look up and see what features are/aren't included.
