Surprised so many people here are subscribed to David Jones… They are usually the most expensive retailer…

  • Got $15.

I didn’t get a Birthday voucher for $10 this year like I usually do. Did they stop these this year?

    • +1

      No got 1 last month

      • Darn I missed out

    • +3

I got one last month too after whinging that they skipped me for a few years; scored a $25 apology gift card out of that last year

  • +1

    Got a $20.

Man.. I dunno about you fancy city folk but here on the Sunny Coast there's like nothing in stock for Click and Collect at all.
I've legitimately spent half an hour going through the site looking at stuff/adding to cart and the nearest location for anything is 100+km away.

Doubt I'll even be able to use it at this rate. 😅

    • Can I … help you with that? 😁

    • +3

Living within walking distance of DJs… a lot of stock I know is instore, is only available for delivery online. So can't even check if in stock without visiting store.

Ringing store to check on stock is now a very annoying & slow process!

Clearance stock is likely only in a store interstate…
Spent 3 hours travelling across Brisbane for a 80% off shirt last week. Luckily was available for c&c. Probably wasn't worth the effort.

But if you are prepared to go to a store, I'm sure you can spend your Reward there.
      You've got almost a month!

A not so fancy city folk😄

      • Spent 3 hours travelling across Brisbane for a 80% off shirt last week.

Ringing store to check on stock is now a very annoying & slow process!

Lol. Not even worth the time. Save 80% on a 200% markup. Yeh nah. My time is more valuable.

        • Don't be crazy! Didn't do it just for the shirt!!

nearest location for anything is 100+km away
Was replying that - even "fancy city people" sometimes might travel for ages to find a DJs store with stock.

Day off, free to get there. Just my time.
Enjoyed the day exploring a different area & did other things on the way.

          Love the $80 $15.80 shirt!

          My time is more valuable.

So? Everyone has a different value they place on everything! It is for them to understand that, then decide what is important to them.
(Was my field as a consultant to successful corporate clients.)

So why are you wasting time here??

Some spend so much time complaining, misunderstanding & misleading & saying things aren't possible, wasting their time achieving… almost nothing!

I prefer to enjoy my time.
At least I had an interesting day out & a shirt to show for it😂
Got to go… to enjoy my day😄

          • @INFIDEL: It may have worked for you, but not for everyone. I just tried in store and doesn't seem to work as well. So I wouldn't be so quick so say others are complaining and misleading.

            • @brainactive: You tried with multiple Birthday Vouchers??

Again - the above discussion was about using multiple Birthday Vouchers, not these Rewards!

EC said I was lying - but didn't bother noticing was replying about Rewards, not the Birthday Vouchers being discussed!

Jumping to the wrong conclusion (after I doubted multiple Rewards could be combined) is misleading yourself by not reading the full context!

              • @INFIDEL: I tried with these Rewards and have also tried with Welcome vouchers. Needs to be separate transactions to work. Again YMMV but for me (and seems for others too), certainly didn't work.

                • @brainactive: Was responding to question about Birthday Vouchers.

Limited my information only to "Birthday Vouchers". Based on my success couple of weeks ago, & over years.
Those are also referred to Rewards in emails. But have been able to be combined in my recent experience.

But that may always change. Staff know me, so that may also help.

Even EC accepts staff may override the system restrictions. So be nice & it might work! That's always been my experience @DJs😉

Never suggested would work with other types, as I haven't used them.

                • -1

                  @brainactive: Thanks for confirming too.
                  I rest my case

                  • -1

                    @easternculture: Doesn't prove anything.

If you ask staff to combine Christmas Rewards, they will refuse. It's what they've been told to do!

By not asking, but paying with Rewards barcodes, the purchase shows the single purchase paid with multiple Rewards (shown as Gift Cards), across multiple accounts!

Again it's all in how you approach staff!
Seems you don't know how to do that😜

                • @brainactive: Just a thought…
Birthday Rewards may be treated differently by their system.

Those are received once a year on an account. Not likely to be sent out at same time like these. So less likely to be combined across accounts.

So may explain why birthday ones have been able to be recently combined in 1 purchase, but you couldn't combine these a few weeks later.

                  • -1

@INFIDEL: Birthday rewards are the same as Regular DJ rewards.

To redeem your reward online, login to your online profile, select the David Jones Rewards payment option at the checkout and enter your Reward Number and the Pin above.

Not sure why your head cannot comprehend this.

                    • @easternculture: But may be treated differently by their system, to a mass email out of Rewards.

                      • @INFIDEL: Treated the same. Already confirmed with staff earlier this year when they told me max 2 per order.

Yet you still insist that you are correct and cannot provide proof.

                        • @easternculture: Are you sure they told you the correct conditions. Most DJs staff in my exp don't know.

That large number of larger value Rewards would present a greater risk of "abuse" by those with large numbers of accounts. Do the system may treat these Rewards differently to those sent to a few email addresses at a time.

If I showed proof of combining "birthday" Rewards last week, you would still say that doesn't apply now.

                          • @INFIDEL: Yes im sure. Already has a discussion with them. The 2 per order is on the basis that you and your partner want to buy something together. They may decline if you go by yourself but will combine with no issue if you are together.

                            • @easternculture: So you're saying, its up to staff if they allow Rewards to be combined. As they've always allowed with me. So nothing new for me.

But then I don't have 10 accounts like you to rort their Rewards system😜
Just a couple of regular accounts for family members.

I rarely buy anything at DJs, unless ~80% off their ticketed price or have a Reward.

As I've commented, staff have regularly reduced clearance prices to Rewards value. That's not how it's supposed to be done. They override the system😄

To have more success - show staff respect & don't look like a person trying to use their system for your own benefit. Works for me😉

                            • -2

@easternculture: Did you talk with experienced staff - in-store?

Yes im sure. Already has a discussion with them.

How would you know they were telling you the complete truth??
By what you stated here - I doubt it. But strangely you tell us its true - with no proof!!

My actual in-store experience using multiple Rewards as payment was very different to what you claim!!

And most of your comments are about the different online experience, not instore as I was discussing!!

Staff won't usually open up about their company's systems to a stranger. They may give general information, but not how to get the most benefit out of it.

Especially not if there may be a record of their conversation (phone call or online chat). It could cost them their job!

That's why I see staff I have known & built up rapport with for some time. Who trust me & open up to me.

It's what I am trained to do! (in 1 of my Degrees: Double Majors in Psychology, Honors studies, supervised training). The basis of my consultancy with corporate clients, Minister of Government, etc.

                          • -1

@INFIDEL: Not hard, make 3 x new accounts . Put bday next 2 days. Voucher will come tomorrow.
Post screen shots of the bday voucher numbers and reciept showing the same vouchers being used in one transaction.

                            Please prove me wrong.

Ill even shout you 2 of my $15 reward vouchers if you prove me wrong

                            • @easternculture: Lol! I've proven you wrong before😜

Would be more waste of my time.
And as I previously said you would just claim I'm wrong, even with mountains of proof.

                            • @easternculture: I take that bet

                            • @easternculture: Unless it’s his real birthday it is fraud. They have cameras in store and you leave a digital fingerprint online. If they wanted to, the store could ask for it back. Trying to abuse the offer is against their terms. Regardless, how about we don’t abuse the system and have DJs cancel or modify the program like Max Brenner did with their referal program.

                            • -1

@easternculture: Instore it's processed as a Gift Card, as shown in receipts.

(Thats why uploading receipts as you demanded - would be useless as only shows Gift Cards used as payment. No sign of Rewards use!)

My statement stands - multiple Rewards redeemed across multiple accounts is possible. Worked for me every time.

                    • -1

@easternculture: Discussed with DJs staff who disagree with you!

My past experience as a Staff Trainer here & overseas, operating my own businesses, and a business consultancy - helps build rapport with staff. They tell me information you may not be told…

Staff have been instructed not to accept multiple Christmas Rewards for a transaction.

BUT, it's nothing to do with the system not accepting multiple Rewards for a single transaction - as you wrongly claim!

They said its possible you were fed that "computer says No" story to avoid any conflict with staff member! It was an excuse!
                      It's simply NOT TRUE!!

Birthday Rewards show up differently in the emails, so are TREATED DIFFERENTLY by STAFF than the Christmas Rewards.

You discuss the computer system for online orders. I always see senior staff in store - who can override the system.

As I correctly stated - I was offered to combine 3 Birthday Rewards in 1 transaction, just over a month ago.

Staff explained, its easier for them to do as 1 transaction, than 3 separate transactions, entering each separate membership detail with each order! So they like doing that.

Not sure why your head cannot comprehend this.

Instead you call me a BULLSHITTER & TROLL, which I am not.

I replied to a question of combining Birthday Rewards - based on my recent experience using 3 Birthday Rewards in 1 transaction!!

Actual experience trumps your made up story that it won't work🤔

            • -2

@brainactive: Told you so. He is trolling. DJ Rewards cannot be combined from multiple accounts. System only allows max of 2 if employee is willing to do so.

Any voucher that is locked to your account (email login) is considered a reward voucher.

(Bday voucher is also a reward voucher as in cannot be applied as a gift card online , only in the DJ reward section locked to your account).

              • +3

@easternculture: I do not believe that Rather be Travelling is trolling. He may be mistaken (but I do not think he is) but that is not trolling. He has been helpful to many people on here including me. Just because you disagree with his opinion is no reason to accuse him of trolling which is defined as when "someone posts or comments online to deliberately upset others ".
                https://www.esafety.gov.au/young-people/trolling#:~:text=Tro….

                • @Yola: Yola… Thanks for your kind support.

I was shocked that advice I know to be correct from my recent DJs transaction was called BULLSHITTING & I am labeled a TROLL. Am more used to people leaving their thanks.

I've been offering advice & explaining Deals on Ozbargain since 2011, correcting mistakes or misinformation by merchants & members, writing a Wiki & many comments on cheap SIMs, even redesigning / checking Deals as requested by major Deal posters.

                  I enjoy participating & helping.
What I dislike is incorrect / misleading information!! It confuses people who may miss out on great opportunities.

I take the time & effort to post what I know about - from my experience.
Answering questions honestly. As I did here.

easternculture seems to like to discredit those who have a different practical experience, vs ec's theoretical view of Deals! Like in this case.

People can have & express different opinions. But in my long experience of easternculture - can be misleading, offensive & abusive!
                  Reported again to Mods.

Especially so with ec's vendetta against Econnex energy Deals, since missing a Deal ec really wanted, contacting the Rep, but was refused as the Deal had expired.

Most complaints are that people did not receive gift cards from Econnex.
I have repeatedly commented that Econnex doesn't sent the gift cards, Woolworths does. A likely explanation of why people think they never received gift cards from Econnex🤔

So I proposed a simple change for Ecconex to email people to let them know the gift cards are on the way from Woolies.
They are considering the minor change to their system, which will hopefully improve gift cards being received & used!

But in 2 Deals I was accused of being associated / employee of the business.
easternculture called for Mods to take action against me!! To prove ec correct😜
Again, totally unfounded & false allegations. Mods removed ec's false allegations!

Why ec's hatred towards me? I have a totally different experience to ec. I like all the gift cards I received from Econnex for years without any problems. Just for swapping electricity retailer.

But as a past political organiser, am used to News Ltd front page fake news being published about me😂

I'd rather bring a positive change to Deals, than be grumpy & make up false allegations like ec has been doing to convince people ec is right🤔

              • -1

@easternculture: You incorrectly think you know about the David Jones system instore, after a chat with a couple of staff. But got it so wrong!

And confuse the online system process with what happens in store!

I've built up rapport with DJs staff in a few stores, over many years. They tell me how to get the most from the Rewards system. And encouraged my use of multiple Rewards & accounts, on a single purchase instore.

I've posted in many David Jones Deals for years, about using multiple DJs birthday vouchers on different accounts. eg Aug 2019

My comment on recent multiple Birthday Rewards on 3 accounts was accurate & correct.

DJs staff I know & talked with, couldn't believe how you got your advice on in-store use of Rewards so wrong!

Pity your advice was so misleading & incorrect!
And your conduct here so terrible when I posted accurate & actually tested information😜

            • -1

@brainactive: If you ask to combine Rewards, staff were told not to that! So will refuse!

But if you present just the Rewards barcodes instore as payment, I've found staff will process it. Just don't show the Christmas part at the top😉

  • i must be missing something, i never receive any DJs rewards emails despite being a member for a few years now

  • I think I unsubbed from emails a while ago but still have the membership/login. Any way to check the account for the voucher if not subbed to emails?

  • Does anyone have problem using the card? I tried on mobile / PC but still can't add it to DAVID JONES REWARDS

    • Are you logged in to the same email that got ths reward

    I got $20 and got this - https://www.davidjones.com/product/prene-the-freddie-tote-ba…

It was on sale for $30 and then had another 60% off. Also got a small Lindt teddy - all for $19.55! :D

    • Great bargains. The bag is now $99.95.

    • Nice score, that definitely has to be on clearance.

Always best to head in-store as online stock levels can be flaky around sometimes.

  • Nothing, nada, zilch! Have DJs platinum. Advice what Amex card I should apply for as djs Amex partnership is ending?

  • fuzz yard animal toys on sale 40% off, thx for the free dog toys DJS.

  • Multiple accounts, 15, 15. Cheers!

Got 5 pairs of socks for $1.50 after $20 reward🧦

  • I turned off my e-mails once I got my birthday voucher three months ago and turning marketing e-mails back on didn't work. But a staff member gave me $10 for reaching out on live chat (the best they could do.)

I don't think my account was old enough or had enough purchases to earn $15, so it's good I got something at all.

I bought 300g of quality freshly sliced shaved smoked leg ham for my $15. Yum 😋

    • You are so lucky. They closed all the food halls in Victoria.

      • and SA

  • Which one has a better stock, DJ city or DJ Indooroopilly?

    • -1

DJ Brisbane City is a category A (flagship) DJ Store. So has a wider range.
Other stores are lower category but may have some cheaper items.

Bought clothes on clearance (almost free using Birthday Rewards) at a category C store. (Westfield Mt Gravatt - now closed.)
Enquired at Brisbane City. "Sir, we don't stock THOSE clothes in this store!!". Caters for city work lifestyle etc.

Free $50 Uber voucher to / from Indooroopilly!

  • +1

Spent $16.xx with $15 reward, next day someone gave me the same thing (baby toy) as gift. Hadn't picked up click and collect yet so went to store and asked for refund. Unsure if guy knew what he was doing but got entire amount refunded to card that I used to pay the remaining $1 haha

    • Oh man, you just discovered money laundering!
