Do these take after-market toners? Or firmware locked?

      • That won't work, by virtue of being a completely incompatible toner.

    • I haven't seen any aftermarket toners for the new Brothers yet, but give it a few months and I'm sure there'll be some out.

That kills it for Officeworks Pricematch

    • LOL, where are you living? Maybe not metro area. I checked my post code which cost me 16 bucks.
And officeworks unavailable this one. Maybe too new? Not sure.

      • Perth haha

        • No idea, I’m in Melbourne. It cost me $16.

    • The shipping kills the deal for a lot of people.

It gets even worse. I'm in Central Queensland and it's quoted me this. Post code 4701. $360.29 shipped. The thing is it's a regional city located directly along the Bruce Highway.

And the irony is if i was to buy the printer from Officeworks instead and if not in stock at the Rockhampton store i could get it shipped to the store on C&C for free. For $329.

  • In before non-duplex scanning.

Ah - didnt see that! Thanks. No longer interested :-)

It does support it, but the default setting has it turned off. The reason is that it does single pass double sided scanning, so if you leave it turned on, it will generate a PDF with every second page being blank if your original is single sided.

      It has duplex scanning.

    • +1

Is supports single pass duplex scanning. Unlike my really old MFC, which requires double passes to scan both sides.

When turned on, it scans both sides of the page in one go. The weird thing is the specs the stores listed doesn't include this.

      • Yeh its strange. But if you do a compare between this model and the MFC-L2800 it shows.

      • I'm a bit confused now. So does it support dupex scanning or not?

        • It does

I pricematched with here as it has free delivery. https://www.ecotechprintsolutions.com.au/brother-mfc-l2880dw…

    • But may make you wonder how that online store can factor in free shipping nation wide into a bulky item such as the MFC printer and yet sell it at that price. Seems a bit odd.

      • Who cares, just use it as a pricematch at officeworks and get it for $263

  • No stock in most OW VIC stores, and not available online so no option for price match for me.

  • Just a heads-up - it doesn't seem like it has CIFS client, or SFTP client capabilities. Only FTP and FTPS
