PlayStation 5 Slim Console $735.92 + Delivery @ Dick Smith via eBay

540
SAVETH

Original Coupon Deal

Cheaper then the deal posted earlier. I would still wait if you really wanted the slim I'd say we'll see $680 pricing within the next month, just a rough guess but it's a more realistic price when the old version is still sold with a game for that price. Otherwise keep an eye on eBay price drops and coupons.

Edit: The stock seems to come back and disappear from time to time so worth keeping an eye on.

  • Wow at this price it makes me want to return the order I placed on Black Friday for the regular ps5

    • +25

You saved $230 + a brand new game.

This is almost like barbie in a new hat.

      • +2

lol… no remorse from gamesmen black friday ps5+spidey deal…

the slim sounds like a piece of crap, with a noisy fan… og ps5 silencio bruno.

    • I got the $679 bundle on Amazon and it's only just now "preparing for shipment" today, 12 days after I placed the order on Nov 27. but with the Slim rumoured to run louder (with its smaller fan) I'm very torn on what I should get. returning my phat is an option if I keep it unopened til Boxing Day to see what sales they have. given I can return the game to Amazon, I can bring it down to $592 so that's the standard really. or $679 plus a free game. not sure they'll repeat that deal though.

      • Yea I am doing the same, if the price go below $700 on Boxing Day I will get the slim instead and return the normal one. I am not too concern about fan noise I doubt I can hear anything while playing, the console is away from the couch..

        • there's no game bundles in Australia yet. I think the Spider-man 2 bonus was just for BF so there's a chance if the Slim goes for i.e. $679 on Boxing Day you'll have to forfeit the game you got free with your OG model.

          do you care about Spider-man?

          • @uinstitches: I personally would forfeit the game for a slimmer design and more internal storage, I am not sure if it would go down to $679 but would be awesome if they do

            • @ozvictor: it's also a $7 change of mind fee if you didn't know. not sure if it becomes $14 if I return 2 items I got in the same offer. the console and the game.

              • @uinstitches: If you select return reason as product doesn’t meet expectation there will be no shipping cost. I did it before no any issue

      • The OG gets pretty noisy in its own right, so the slim sounds a bit nuts if that's the case

        • didn't Mark Cerny make a big song and dance about the PS5 being significantly more quiet than the PS4 when it launched?

          • @uinstitches: If he (? Who?) did, I can't say that our experience lines up with that

            • +1

@buckster: he was a developer on Spyro in 1998 and is now the lead designer on consoles which is why he did the presentation for the PS5 reveal.

      • lol you are still deciding? better decide before the return window elapses. btw i got my spidey refund back in case you are wondering.

        • did you have to pay the $7 change of mind fee? that's what live chat told me. also my PS5 is only just now getting delivered tomorrow so I have 60 days from that point right? either way it'll go beyond Boxing Day which is the minimum I need to see what sales they have for the Slim.

        • hey was the box your OG PS5 came in sealed with a clear circle sticker? mine just arrived from Amazon and idk if it was a return or not. as in someone opened the box then decided they didn't want it before setting the PS5 up.

          • @uinstitches: ok, nope i didnt have to pay delivery. i got $86 back. no visible seal as such on the outside but doesnt look used at all on the inside. maybe some comes without seal

      • i legit have the slim, it sounds fine and seems more silent then the og one somehow lol my og was loud, at least disk tray was

        • can you work out what fan you have?

    • hey did your PS5 box come sealed with a clear circle sticker? on the edge of the lid where you pull the tab out, that area? mine just arrived and doesn't so I'm concerned it's a return.

      • none come sealed that i know, ps5s never came sealed.

      • Don't recall it being sealed

My plan is to wait for GTA6 and then get a PS5 and new 4k TV :-D
(Unless they release a He-Man game before that :-P)

    • +6

Worth waiting for the Pro version then even if it's a few months after GTA 6 release, I'm just going to stay patient for PC version

      • Ta - I didn't know there was a Pro upcoming. I dont game much these says. Red Dead, FarCry and GTA are the only games I played in the last few years.
I'll have to google this 'Pro' version to find out what the difference will be.

        • +3

Only rumoured but it will inevitably come due to PS5 hardware not being able to push these newer games above 60fps at 4k. With DLSS and FSR improvements I wouldn't doubt if you could build a PC that rivals the performance of a console for same price.

          • @lookingforadeal7: I'd rather spend $600-$700 on a console than bump up my PC. Its a Gen11 i7 running a 3060 which is more than good enough for what I use it for.

            • @Skullytor: I think technically if you run DLSS in most games you'll get better performance and the game will look better on your PC then a PS5. A 3060 from what I've seen is basically equivalent but Nvidia drivers can see performance increases whereas PlayStation updates usually are never about performance.

              • +1

@lookingforadeal7: I think I'd enjoy gaming more on a TV than a PC - games like GTA etc

                • +1

@Skullytor: Can always hook your PC up to the TV if it's not too hard moving it, that's what I used to do now I just have a 8m HDMI to run from my room when needed. I actually had the PS5 from the recent $505 eBay deal but sold it to a mate because it was just going to be used as a Gran Turismo 7 machine and I already have a PS4 and wasn't too fussed on the differences.

          • +2

@lookingforadeal7: I remember the days of talk about games being 4k@120fps, especially from Microsoft! Sure, there's a few titles that achieved it very early on (mostly racing games).

            • @Griffindinho: Yeah racing games and shooters which im glad they focused on. After looking into it some games will offer the 120fps mode but doesn't mean it'll reach a stable 120fps either.

        • as u said u dont game much… dont get the pro version then?
prob 8k and more stable frames with newer/being developed games…

          • @spoonmugen: See how much things are when they come out. I dont mind buying the better items if it will make it more enjoyable.
Still another 1 year + away.

            • @Skullytor: its pretty much a given it'll be made for 8k… if u want to make it enjoyable then hope your budget includes a new 8k tv…

      • I will do the same that I did with the pa4, sell the ps5 close to ps5 pro release, then buy pre order special.

      • What spec PC do you reckon will be needed? 7800x3d and 4080 should do fine?

        • For a PS5? Well considering PS5 is comparable to Xbox Series X and that gets 60fps in performance mode on lies of P and 30fps in "quality" mode there's a video showing a i7 10700f and 3060 pushing 70fps at 4k with DLSS on. Mind you this is with max settings on so probably more comparable to the 30fps mode on Series X.

          https://youtu.be/RsNb2-UL_Bs?si=-BK-6AoyMOLw2Q4W

          • @lookingforadeal7: sorry I meant what PC specs do you think will be needed for GTA 6

            • @sim777: Oh I see, honestly at 1080p a 4060 should realistically still hold it's weight. Wouldn't have a clue but the spec you mentioned should still be able to play at 4k high frames in a couple years I don't see why not. Cyberpunk is a good benchmark in terms of demanding games so if I had to guess I'd expect to see similar performance in both games.

              • @lookingforadeal7: Yeh, I'd rather a PS5 than upgrade to a 4060. Plus I dont even think my Intel 'Beast Canyon' NUCs power will handel a 4060 well.

                • @Skullytor: I feel like your 3060 will still be fine but doubtful it'd do max settings at 1080p at a good framerate. You'll probably get a similar experience on both but obviously still benefits to having a PS5. If it's only for GTA 6 though I'd wait because if the 30fps rumour is true it would be disappointing to buy a new TV and only be able to play at 30fps. I'd expect your 3060 would get more than that.

            • @sim777: Although in saying that GTA 6 trailer is the first time since Cyberpunk to make me go "wow this looks a lot better then Cyberpunk graphics" so we'll see.

              • @lookingforadeal7: Noting the tailor didnt have any game-play - still impressive however.

                • @Skullytor: No gameplay but some parts definitely seemed like in game footage, obviously rendered to look it's best for the trailer of course.

                  • @lookingforadeal7: I hope they dont iron all the bugs out :-D I remember the free money hack in GTA5 - make everyone millionaires in a few hours :-D

                    • @Skullytor: I think RDR2 still had some exploits it's probably inevitable with such a huge game, most games don't come without them on release lol. It's GTA though they'll have cheats, as for online I wouldn't doubt if it was delayed from the single player version and I'm trying not to get my expectations too high for it GTA online still earns them heaps.

                      • @lookingforadeal7: Sorry, I dont mean cheats but I think your term 'exploits' is more suitable than 'hacks'

    • slim is all hot air (and fan noise).. theres just no way they won't definitely coincide a PS5-pro around the GTA6 release… it'll sell a bajillion upgrades.

  • +1

they only have 3 of these in stock

    • +4

Yeah there was 2 sold and 3 in stock when you commented but now 3 sold and 5 in stock, not sure what the go is but could be the old tactic to pressure buyers

  • +4

Why the heck is it more expensive?… 'slim' consoles are supposed to be cheaper in price due to them using less materials and cheaper components (the PS5 is three years old, the parts are not cutting edge anymore).

    • +3

Because people will still buy it at this price before needing to discount it, even when the older version is still available for cheaper with a game. This is replacing that version though and the slim this time around doesn't take a performance cut like previous models. Kind of dodgy to replace the original models especially with a detachable disc drive which many would agree is inferior design for personal use case, in a way they're just resetting the price on a 3 year old console.

  • With the current EB trade deal I traded my out of warranty dusty as hell PS5, 3 PS5 games available on PSppus and a bunch of PS4 games that ive been atruggling to sell on marketplace and only paid $98.

    • +1

Why would you trade in an original PS5 for this piece of crap slim console. Original PS5 is way better. You traded in for a dog turd.

      • Way better in what way?

        • Heat and fan noise issues with the slim PS5. Runs hotter and louder than the launch PS5. If i was you i would have stuck with the fat PS5. It really isn't an upgrade more like a downgrade.

          • @hollykryten: Havent heard of those issues. It only just came out? Oh well, im happy with my purchase and your happy with your OG PS5.

  • 0% interest.

    • +1

If only the RBA felt that way

  • -1

The original model is more sturdy, doesn’t need disc drive activation (for preservation down the line) and is much more quiet I reckon

Its the way to go and consider - If you can get hold of that

    • -1

Where can I find reviews about the Slim version being louder than the original?

    • -1

"doesn’t need disc drive activation (for preservation down the line)"
      this isnt really a thing…

because the OG drive isnt swappable out of it/its already activated from the factory…
the slim disc once u do it now when you get it/dont intend to swap it around models?

nothing's gonna preserve longetitivy of anything if sony/game developer takes the authentication servers off line?…

  • I don't see the appeal in this at all.

You can get the normal version cheaper + there will no doubt be a pro soon.

  • Since this is bought from Kogan. I wonder how reliable their after sales support is. You know dealing with warranty. It's not like you can just go down to a local B&M store front to argue with some one in person over warranty. I don't think you can even call any one. Is it worth the saving the frustration trying to deal with warranty?.

    • I would say no. Sony is painful to deal with regarding warranty issues so B&M would be a strong preference to take the hassle out.
