I might be wrong but I think scoot to Bali is via Singapore. For the extra hours in transit it’s a hard sell for anyone except a uni student with tight funds and lots of time

this is ozbargain. You will find plenty of goers who have complimentary prioritypass or amex lounge, etc. and can find things to do in singapore airport at saving of couple of hundred dollars.

      • +1

Most prefer full airliners even on here. You would see so many platinum and gold flowers flyers. Sccot is only good if you are flying from Singapore to Bali. Aus to Singapore sorta needs full airliners.

        • Exactly. Unless you travel with no check in luggage and don't eat or drink on the plane (which is kinda hard on a long haul flight), by the time you add all the extras up, Scoot's fare isn't much cheaper than that of the full service airlines.

          • @Love a bargain: I assume most of you are on the east coast making these comments because of the longer flight times.

Perth - Singapore is only about 4.5 - 5 hours, Scoot is also a good red-eye option as well, go to sleep and wake up in Singapore to eat breakfast at the many airport options. Fantastic for the price!

            • +1

@cam83: Yeah I like Scoot. Cheap flights and good timing - can jump on a plane after work, spend some time in the priority pass lounge and wake up to a full day already in Singapore the next morning

    • I might be wrong but I think scoot to Bali is via Singapore

All Scoot flights out of Aus are through Singapore.

    • +1

Great - and Singapore offers free tours during your layover - plus Changi is an amazing experience (apologies to our diggers who would have argued the point when Japs ran the place).

I need 4 flights on the 23 or 24th dec to 28th or 29th dec to get away from everyone at Xmas. Must be super cheap, anywhere within australia and Sth East Asia!

    • +1

Easy — wait one month and book 2024!

    • There's basically no such thing as cheap at times where everyone and their school age kids wants to go on holiday.

  • +1

I just checked for the 3/04 to the 15/4 to from Sydnwy to Saigon return and the transit is like 30 hours! That is way too long, is there shorter one then that? I'm happy with 3-4 hours.

Can explore city for the day. Hotels are not that expensive in Singapore unless you like 5 star.

      • +9

Are u serious hotel prices in SG are ridiculous atm!

    • I've just booked the flight with the longest transit hours and plan to explore the airport (transit-side) for a whole day. Booked the transit hotel in T1 for AUD $360 or so (12 hour stay) and mapped out a few attractions around the terminals to see. Total cost of flight + transit hotel is still far cheaper than even Vietjet.
While you could venture out of the airport and see the city/the Jewel, I don't see any point wasting time going through immigration (even though it should be super easy with an Aussie passport).
Weigh up your options and costs and see for yourself!

      • +5

Immigration is like 30 mins. It’s Singapore.

      • If you've entered Singapore in the last few years then you'd have been automatically enrolled to use the auto gates for entry. Last time I was there the gates were plentiful and there was no queue even though it was quite busy. You'd probably be able to just walk right through, no delay at all.

        • +1

There are now auto gates for anyone with passport from certain countries (including Australia).

      • Holy crap, $360 for 12 hours and you're not even going out of the airport?! That's crazy.Immigration in Singapore takes like 10 minutes max every time I've been there.

      • +1

Dude…get a lounge pass from here for $50.

Have a few drinks, nibbles, sneak some shut eye..more drinks..and then pass out on the plane.

One beer will probably set you back $50 in Singapore..no brainer.

I’ve stayed at Aerotel single room and also the double room.

Be aware the single room is shared bathroom.

The double room is one of the nicest hotel rooms I’ve been in; spectacular view too.

Having breakfast by the pool is nice.

If you arrive early morning (1am-6am) I think what you are doing is fine,

However, if you are in Singapore during the day it’s worth storing your bag, even carry on, at Jewel…. And doing things in Singapore; just sitting at Clarke Quay is nice. But plenty to do if you have the time.

You can also just tap your credit card for the metro now.

        IMO.

    • +4

the transit is like 30 hours!

Longer transit is better in SG. You have time to get on the MRT and head into town and do some sightseeing rather than just sit around an airport.

  • +2

wish these left from Brisbane :(

    • +1

You'd end up in the Americas then

Ipoh is worth it just for the Haianese chicken restaurants. 🤤

    • +3

Whenever I see Ipoh my mind always converts it into International Pancakes of House.

  • More ADL deal please

  • Wow most of the legs have long transit hours, a hard sell imo!!

  • any tips on getting from anywhere in SE Asia to europe? Seems no budget airlines other than scoot (sin-athens) do this anymore?? trying to avoid a night flight..

  • Hi All.
Has anyone here actually flown Scoot?

How bad (or good) is it really?
How much cabin baggage are you allowed?
    Is the food ok, edible?
    How crapped are the seats?

    Thanks
