    • +4

I love $1 slurpees with my sweetheart. <3

  • Only good if can use choppa. My local servo usually always much cheaper than 7-11

Didn't the Japanese buy the Aussie business recently? I'll need a fair few of these if they bring their Japanese conveniece offerings here 🤣

    • +12

Ikr. Even if they stock 20% of the Japanese 7-11's products I would visit them more often

  • +2

top up your myi if you are in Victoria

  • +1

Can you use these with the Pay & Go feature in the app?

  • +5

Was wondering how these would be redeemed as 7-Eleven gift cards are normally magnetic stripe based.

Having a read, these are a (merchant locked) digital Visa card that you use via Apple / Google Pay, put through as a credit card, not a gift card payment at the register.

I bother to mention this because staff seem to always have problems redeeming (actual) gift cards.

    • It is worth noting that the card may not be restricted to 7 eleven, i.e. a universal Activ VISA.

Currently 7 eleven is not mentioned in the description.

      • Are there any other cards you know sold at a discount that are like this?

      • I bought a $500 gift card. Finally discovered, it works only in 7-Eleven Stores.

        • There are reports saying that it can be used @ Coles Express, United, possibly all Petrol stations.

          • +1

@Neoika: Just used today at United Petrol Station. Working all good.

  • +15

Just use HSBC card to tap and pay. 2% discount without any effort.

    • I remember minimum deposit required every month

      • +2

$2k per month but you can just transfer it back out straightaway anyway. You don't need to maintain $2k balance.
The transaction needs to be less than $100 however to qualify for cashback.

        • transaction needs to be less than $100

There's ya problem!! Increasing difficult with petrol at $2/L. Got to calculate max litres to fill before pumping, or split payment. So far they're been good with split payment.(HSBC and cash or CC)

    • yes, always use HSBC global debit, easy and 2% cashback instantly

      • Is this HSBC offer in cashback have time period, as in expired until certain usage?

        • every month cashback up to $50 ($2500 spend)
each spend has to be under $100 and paid via tap and pay with Visa payWave, Apple Pay or Google Pay

    • $99.99 and then another should do it

    • +3

Agreed, I love the HSBC card. My friends always complain about the card surcharges at restaurants but I never mind because HSBC more than covers it for me

    • +1

Put the extra effort in and you get 2.5% and credit card points worth maybe another 1%.

      • How? I thought this cashback only worked with HSBC debit card.

        • I mean buy the shopback gift card, with your pick of credit card to get a better deal.

          • @Aureus: A true ozbargain only pay for shopback giftcards with discounted gift cards=)

Well maybe occasionally Westpac cards though.

  • This is revolutionary.
    Well done Shopback

  • +1

Sorry, noob Q - what do you mean by Choppa/chopper?

    • +9

People use location spoofs to lock in cheaper fuel via the 7-11 app that is no where near their actual location.

They claim to lock these in using a “chopper” I.e. helicopter - most likely in reference to “get to the chopper” from the movie Predator

  • +5

    pathetic rate

  • +1

A discount on my $1 Slurpee?

  • +1

after the takeover they got rid of the lock no choppa and someone stacked up on gift cards

    imagine that

    • +1

This appears to be the standard rate, so only buy this after you've locked in a good petrol price

      • +2

I guess buy as required or risk losing big time but not as much as the chopper savings over the years

  • +1

Slurpee are free as one has to use left over coins! SlurpeeMath

can I use these to pay for petrol?

    • +4

Got to wonder whether reading the description would have been faster than typing this comment

      • This is 2023, you can't expect anyone to put any amount of effort into finding out information for themselves any more - no matter how easy it is. You need to outright tell them - I wonder whether that's linked to the massive rise in the number of people who just blindly believe whatever they're told by their politician/shock-jock of choice?

        • Neither of us have told them the answer though, so maybe we are taking a step to reprogram their brain to be self-sufficient?

  • I thought they got rid of GC's. MY 7/11 GC balance was refunded at some point.

How is this used? can we top up our account or is it a GC where we have to scan/punch in the card number when paying?

  • +1

    Epic.
    Credit card points for vouchers.
    Vouchers to pay for fuel.

Now need error priced fuel for max deals.

  • But… can it be used for petrol tho
    and what is choppa

  • +2

This will only be useful depending on the attendant you get on the day. I've had a gift card before and it was a small amount, some refused to use it others said it had to be exact amount and can't be used as a partial payment.

    • Yes, it could be a trap. It is not a 7 eleven gift card, but a prepaid VISA card that inevitably causes remaining balance issue. Plan ahead before purchase.

It is much easier to deal with a supermarket VISA card on remaining balance issue, currently 2.25% cashback on Shopback.

      • +2

The Supermarket VISA card can be used at 7-Eleven?

        • Did you work this out?

          • @sinizter: I don't think it'll work. I am talking about remaining balance issue that is always one factor to be considered before buying. It can eat away the discount, which makes the initial saving pointless.

            • @Neoika: I was asking whether the Supermarket VISA card can be used at 7-Eleven.

As for breakage (left behind balances) I have come to accept that some will happen even though I am usually pretty good at getting it all out. Sometimes, that tiny bit is not worth the effort, as anti-OzB as it sounds. Take the win and move on.

              • @sinizter: Supermarket VISA Left behind balances can be used in Woolies or Coles as partial payments. I have used as low as $0.01 for buying a milk bottle.

        • No

    • I may still use physical 7-11 GC keeping top up with 2.25% SM card.

    • +1

7-Eleven POS allows you to split a payment into 3, but no more than that. I have done very many split payment transactions with them to utilise various small denomination eftpos cards.

There's no minimum but the worker might just be a dick and say no.

      • In my experience 100% said no at multiple servos.

  • Last time I tried using the $50 gc I got from when they discontinued the app, the teller couldn’t get it to work. Tried for 5 min and I ended up having to pay cc.

    • They relatively recently (few months ago) changed the way gift cards are put through their POS

      • so can it be used for partial payments or not?

  • +1

interesting, it can also be used at misc. food and convenience stores….I wonder why this is called 7 Eleven Visa if it's just a generic visa card that can be used at certain merchants….if somebody could figure out what the "MCC" code works with this card, it would be very useful to figure out places it can work..

    • +1

I wonder if it would also work at other non 7-11 service stations.
It was declined at Woolworths when I tried. Probably works at smaller stores eg convenience stores

      • Thanks for this input. Woolworths Metro may accept it?

      • +1

it does say can be used at "service stations", so I think petrol at other places is a possibiilty…

          7-Eleven
5541 Service Stations (with or without Ancillary Services)
5499 Miscellaneous Food Stores - Convenience Stores, Markets, Specialty Stores

          • @Neoika: Excellent thanks

            • +1

              @trixieb: Refer to this

              • @Neoika: MCC 5411 for Aldi, Coles, IGA and Woolworths so this 7-11 gc wouldn't work there

Woolworths Metro is not on the list but MCC could be the same as Woolworths

    • It helps card issuers to retain your funds on cards for as long as possible.

    • +3

@zooter @Neoika As expected, I was able to use the 7-11 card at Coles Express.
Hence it should work at other service stations and miscellaneous food/convenience stores.

      • +1

TCN The Fuel Gift Card equivalent.

      • +1

thanks @trixieb - I was also able to do a split payment using the card within 7-Eleven for paying for fuel using this and another card

        • Great 😃

      • @trixieb @zooter I am not able to use this card as attendent is not sure how to redeem it. I have google wallet. May you please confirm the steps so that I can Redeem mine

        • Add the card info to the wallet. It looks like you never added a bank card before. Maybe search for how and practice it first.

If your phone does not support NFC, you should not have bought this card.

        • +1

@vivekg Add the card details to Google wallet on your phone and turn on NFC to scan the card in Google wallet to the payment machine

          https://support.google.com/googlepay/answer/10191035?hl=en&c…

          • @trixieb: @trixieb I have added the gift card as credit/debit card. It is added successfully, but it's asking to verify info and when I click on verify then it asks for 3 digit security code. I am entering cvv for security code, but it throws error - unexpected error occurred.

            • +1

@vivekg: No need to verify it for online use. Ignore the prompt. It can not be verified anyway.
