I recommend this one https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BCWGC7GJ Got it for $28 at Black Friday.

Doesn't have pressure sensitivity if that matters for you.

Edit: Just noticed there's $10 off coupon at the moment, so even cheaper than Black Friday at $25.99.

That’s the thing. So many cheap alternatives and all of them are missing just this one feature. Pressure sensitivity seems to be the $100+ differentiator.

Luckly I just want it for taking notes, not works of art, so it's a great way to save a heap of $.

    • What's the difference between the A11 posted and the A8 below?

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Metapen-2018-2022-Durable-Rejectio…

      • +1

A8 doesn’t connect via Bluetooth. So no battery level showing on the iPad and no shortcut key.

        • Thank you, sounds like the A11 is the way to go

    • “ Only spend 1/5 the price and get 200% Quality.”. Love the marketing.

    • It also doesn't charge magnetically which is an annoyance (Apple one just attaches to the side magnetically and charges)

    • oh wow - thanks mate ! this one looks great actually, cheers

I have the Metapen Pencil that I bought back in June and it works great with my M1 iPad Pro. As others have said apart form the pressure sensitively it does everything the Apple Pencil does, just need to charge using USB C.

  • Ordered Metapen Pencil as most people mentioned above, 🙏 thanks for recommending!

  • +1

Agreed that for anything other than art or novelty factor it's better to get an alternative.

For art though there's nothing else that can compare

  • +1 So many cheaper alternatives that work great

As is the trend of the comments in this thread, I recommend this unrelated product: a 10pk of pens with stylus tips, no charging needed and no pesky pressure sensitivity. Does everything a finger does and can also write on paper but not even comparable to the deal posted:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Ballpoint-Stylus-Smooth-Writing-Sc…

    • Can it draw in finer details?
I like how you don’t have to charge, but does it do the job as well as the battery ones?

    • Apple hates this! Let us tell you the secret to saving $$$. Call now.

  • Great price if ya want the full set bonus

Sweet. Can finally tick off - shove something useless and expensive up my a$$ - off the bucket list

  • 159 used to be the normal price, at least that's what I saw it for all the time.

    • +1

I swear they used to be like $129 commonly, at least a while back.

Does the Metapen work on iPad 9th gen

    • +1

mate surely you are not this lazy. The second picture literally gives you a list lol

Does anyone have this one? Seems to have pressure sensor. It is on discount at 19$ on Amazon. Is this a better stylus? Also has better ratings than Metapen.

    • Where does it say it has pressure?

      • I stand corrected. I think I inferred it. It says precision sensitivity. Sorry, second language issue. 😅

  • I sat on and bent my pencil (its got a hairline crack in the middle and a 1-2degree bend after I bent it back to straightish). Subscribed to apple pencil deals expecting it to die… but hey over a year on and it still charges and works fine.

lol the thread was about Apple Pencil and yet majorities are suggesting a different brand… so what’s the best way not to lose the pencil (whether it’s an Apple Pencil or the knock off brand if I were to buy this for my year 4 kids?
Zip tie the pencil to the ipad casing?

Like the one they do at JB Hifi store?

    Thanks

i heard there are tailored casings for this exact purpose of holding onto the pencil

Pretty broad compatibility for Apple Pencil (2nd generation)

    https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT211029

If we narrow down further to 120Hz ProMotion:

iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)

    iPad Pro 11-inch (all generations)
