    16GB Soldered LPDDR5-6400, dual-channel, not upgradable

not upgradable, soldered. Rough to see

16GB of memory is quite sufficient for the time being, personally i don't like seeing non-upgradable memory either, but it would be a deal breaker if it was just 8GB.

Depends on your purpose. For a software engineer running a bunch of IDEs, its very dated.

@exloong: I don't know about sydney/melb, but microsoft has a stranglehold on Perth and almost every company in is in the microsoft ecosystem.
Worldwide, it is still the most widely used operating system for professional use.

And while I agree macbooks have better specs/performance, I'd rather not have to fork out $5k

          • @exloong: Most if not all of the computers at schools are PCs if I am correct

            • @Bii: You are unfortunately correct, although technically a Mac is a PC (personal computer).

              • @Daabido: Just because Apple never advertises with the term Mac PC but Windows PC

        • A software engineer can afford more RAM and more expensive laptops.

    • Yep, I just ordered a Yoga 9i Pro to get the 3.2 mini-led and 32GB RAM option. $2900 ish. If the Acer had 32GB or the option of a one free simm slot (Asus does this, soldered ram and one free slot), I'd be all over this.

The specs on this machine for the price is crazy.

  • Incredible specs

  • @ChatGPT or anyone with knowledge regarding this laptop and the surrounding laptops close to this. I recently bought this laptop for myself and I've been loving the aspect ratio and the screen. It seems to be fine but battery life is somewhat middling at 4 hours. Is there any laptop out there right now with similar specs with a better battery life if the budget was higher than 1.2k? Cheers :)

      i5-13500H is a ~45W CPU and driving 3.2K pixels @ 120Hz takes a lot of power

Try capping the CPU to 35W and drop the refresh rate to 60Hz or 90Hz to increase the battery life

You can also carry an extra USB-C power bank to charge on the go
