It's a great way to save money and have the satisfaction that you're providing your family great Australian made products. You're not only doing the best for your family but also for all Australian families that are employed in manufacturing in Australia.

With unemployment figures rising and the manufacturing sector shrinking, it is very, very important that we all support the Australian manufacturers that are left.
At a time when many manufacturers and retailers are struggling, this mob continues to support Australian made and owned and I'm sure they will appreciate our support too.

''With unemployment figures rising and the manufacturing sector shrinking, it is very, very important that we all support the Australian manufacturers that are left''.

lol? this is ozbargain mate and there are people who are doing way worse than a manufacturing company.

2 negative votes but no valid arguments in response. Next lets support James Packer's casino because he's been losing some money lately.

  • Sadly, like everything that is promoted as being good for you, or good for the nation, the prices are horrendous!

Why would I pay $6+ for a 2L bottle of cordial, when I can walk into Coles and get one for $4, and frequently on special for $3?

I realise it's a tough gig competing with the big boys, but when people are doing it tough, every saving counts.

You'd be better served simply not having brands that can be had at Coles etc. because it makes you look expensive.

    • I'm sure you'll find Bickford's cordial better than say, Cottees.

OnlyOz have 750mL Bickford cordials for $3.96 - an Australian OWNED company too.

      • That may well be the case, but I was talking apples to apples. Coles sell the same brand 2L cordial as this company significantly cheaper.

    • Patriotism, scoundrel etc.

Generally people patriotic enough to care about buying locally made products are too poor to afford them. True story bro.

That's true. There is often a premium when there is some side benefit to what you are buying. It's like the price of healthy food versus chips and the fish 'n' chip shop.

Being patriotic is one thing, but when you can buy the same product (and therefore locally made as well) for significantly less, and at many more outlets, it just makes for a bad look.

I understand that a small company has little chance of competing with the likes of Coles, so by trying, they just look expensive.

I'm sure most people try to find a common product at a new store to see if that store offers value for money. I just happen to pick an item that I buy often, and didn't get that impression.

  • I buy Dick Smith food products sometimes to feel better about my choices in shopping. Most other times however I remember the mortgage that must be paid off. Every extra dollar off the mortgage is more than a dollar saved in interest.
