Some others want to stick on churning new free account trials

  • I am guessing this is for premium, making it $2.49 cheaper than standalone?

    • It appears to be the standard sub.

Thanks Scrooge and Merry Christmas. Had this already through Prime at full price. Pressed “cancel and get a refund” and then I was able to get this deal. Cheers 🥂

Merry Christmas! Enjoy the savings. Cheers 🥂

    • How did you cancel and get a refund? Mine just canceled and goes until the 21st Jan (next renewal date). I can’t see how to get a refund and cancel immediately.

      • There was choices of “cancel and get a refund” or “cancel and keep your subscription until (next renewal date)”. I chose the first one. My subscription was through Amazon Prime already though, not through Paramount. Were you subscribed through Amazon or Paramount?

        • I’m subscribed through amazon. Using the we browser it just has “cancel channel” and when I click that it offers 3 months @ $5 to stay subscribed. But no option to cancel and refund :-(

  • Thanks OP, is this the premium version?

    • I am not sure to be honest. If someone that already has it might be able to help.

      • I have this, not sure how to confirm (all comms / info is woeful). I watched something without any ads (fast forward a yellow jackets ep) so guess its premium?

Only other info i can find is paramount + showtime.. which is also premium but some things have ads so … at this point no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️

        • +1

Only difference is premium has 4k and standard is HD only (at least that's how it is for the non-prime Paramount+).

        • do you get access to showtime as well or is it just Paramount premium?

    • I sure hope it’s the Premium version if it’s $5/mth at half price. Otherwise, if we only get Standard (no 4K, etc.), it would make more sense to subscribe to Standard directly through Paramount+ for $3.75/mth using the other half-price offer instead of via Prime.

      • Nope, it is the Standard. The difference being you can only sign up to the monthly plan via Prime ($5/mth half price), whereas you can sign up to the annual plan at half price with Paramount+ directly for $44.99 (equivalent of $3.75/mth).

So if you’re sure you want a full year, go with Paramount+ directly; if you want 8 months or less, go with the monthly plan through Prime.

    • I haven’t ever noticed there being more than one type sorry.

  • Is the $5 monthly price ongoing or only for the first month?

    • Ongoing for 12 months. Let me update title. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Any good shows on Paramount+?

Califorication was good to finally watch right through.
Rat Race movie was a great 80’s flashback comedy.
The Indiana Jones quadrilogy is worth a rewatch .
Babaylon , Somethings Gotta Give , Sicario 1&2 ,Crazy Stupid Love , Tag , the blues brothers ,babe ,all good movies.
    The Comedy Central Roasts .
1883 of course . Deadwood must see series if you haven’t yet .
Special Ops : Lioness was great I thought , if you can just ignore whatever Nicole Kidman has done to her face I mean wtf she’s barely recognisable from most angles , but I digress cause the story is not about her .

I think if your younger and haven’t seen at lot of this stuff it’s gonna be good value for awhile, just a shame the ratings system isn’t better , you’re going to have to google everything to find out but there’s definitely gold there .
I just scratched the surface a bit …

Not sure why i took the ozbargain view of paramount so seriously. Just had a look at at it and at least 90% of their content is world class stuff. It is probably not an exaggeration to say that it has the highest percentage of award winning content of any subscription service.
Perhaps ozbargain savaged ot because they are mostly classics? But funnily enough movies of the past eras are significantly better than the present era. The only good thing about the present era are action tv shows. So yeah if that is all you wanted, then it is a miss. Otherwise saying that paramount has craopy content is rather stupid.
Put it this way, if you removed all of paramounts content, Hollywood would be in pretty bsd shape. Not sure how ozbargain really came to this consensus. Maybe most of the people on here are 14 years old?

    • Similar negative take with Apple TV+ though in that case at least they have had to build from scratch with no extensive library to draw from. I just ignore the views here, try for a month (free) and make up my own mind.

    • +1

Personally would rank Apple TV+ (they seem to create good stuff which isnt formulaic),Netflix (has largest Kdrama library aside from Viki it seems), Paramount + ~~~~ , Disney+ then Stan/Binge in that order.

    • There are a number of really solid series on Para - much better offering than I expected based on comments on OzB.
Certainly not a year’s worth but these will get you started:

      Mayor of Kingstown
      Tulsa King
      The Offer
      Tokyo Vice
      Lioness

  • +1

Or maybe the idea is that you would have already seen the stuff? But here isnthe thing…the movies on paramount are quite literally some of the best movies EVER made. Yes i have seen scrfacd and even bought the dvd, butnits with my brother…and i sure as hell dont mind watching it again lol.
If there is anything worth watching again, it would surely be the stuff on paramount.

I love ozbargain, but i think this is the worst opinion i ever saw from the collective on here..and i actially took it seriously and atayed away. It just goes to show you, that.in life, you should question every opinion, even a majority opinion.

  • What happens if you cancel prime? Then you can't access your paramount+ subs neither?

    • +10

Why would anyone in their right mind cancel prime?

  • Does the prime version of paramount still not include A league games?

    • It should. I was at a sports bar not long ago and they had their Paramount set up through Prime Video.

  • Great timing.. Halo season 2 is coming soon

  • Can anyone confirm if the content is 4K and or with Dolby vision through the prime channel?

  • Looks like this is Paramount+ with Showtime (premium)?https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/PD-Is-Paramount-available-as-a-channel-on-Prime-Video

    • I think that’s for the US service, where they have Paramount+ Essentials (with ads) and Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. Only the latter seems to be available via US Amazon Prime.

In Australia, it seems to be the reverse: only Paramount+ Standard is available via Prime. So if you want Premium, looks like you need to sign up directly with Paramount+.

  • There doesn’t seem to be any indication this has 4K dolby vision, you would be better of getting the basic paramount plus plan. Unless for some reason you love using the Amazon prime app that’s the only advantage I can see?

  • +3

On my Nvidia shield it is showing as UHD for the movies and shows like it should for them. So its definitely the premium plan. It also shows the upcoming live sport saying included in subscription

    • Oh thanks I suppose it’s not a bad deal then!

    • +1

      Thanks for the info. 👍

  • Thanks, just noticed my current subscription ends this month so i'll jump on this for another 12 months.

  • Happy for those who got premium but it subbed me to standard. It let me cancel after the first month so I only blew a fiver.

  • Standard and not premium unfortunately:(
I finally managed to find a page that shows the terms and conditions

    • Link? Because its showing UHD available for some movies and shows for me

      • On Chromecast 4k it lists the content as UHD HDR but will only play at HD SDR as it's a limitation of the standard subscription.

So you can actually play UHD?

      • It does sound more like Standard than Premium, but I couldn’t find any exact terminology. From the signup page -

By signing up for a subscription, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions and the Amazon Prime Video Terms of Use and you authorize us to charge your designated payment method or another payment method on file A$5.00/month for the first 12 months and A$9.99/month thereafter for Paramount+. Your Paramount+ subscription renews monhtly until canceled. Paramount+ and other monthly subscriptions can be canceled anytime by going to Your Memberships & Subscriptions. Paramount+ subscription is sold by Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd. Promotion subject to eligibility. Amazon reserves right to modify or cancel offer anytime.

Obviously the spellchecker wasn’t working on the day the page was created.

        • Yep. The Prime app on mobile is also limited to HD for the Paramount content.

So you can get this deal for $15 less from the link at the top of the page.

      • I took a screenshot but I found it while scrolling through the home tab in the iOS app, it’s a white and blue banner.

  • when did amazon start selling subscriptions to Paramount? I thought they only bought out MGM studios

  • Does this have a league? It’s the only reason I get p+ outside of the kids shows
