Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Wi-Fi 128GB - Dark Grey $998 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Harvey Norman

170

Saw this on TV ads. No idea when the deal will expire.

Great for those who like big vivid screen. Although it's only 128gb, it can be expanded with microSD

Well then, lets not support that Gerry chap

        • But his 8 million dog might suffer?

    • You're right, only $1 difference

  • Had a play with this. The screen is very good quality. The interface is very similar to a Samsung phone and is more customisable and versatile than an iPad. However much like the iPad the available software is quite limited for any work beyond very basic stuff. It would be great if at least office was closer to what the full version offers but it is quite limited e.g. no support for reference managers.
Alternatively if this could be installed with Windows arm edition it would be pretty great system. Sadly like most tablets it is mostly just for casual entertainment due to software restrictions. Hopefully we will see more windows arm tablets once new Qualcomm chips are released this year

    • Can it play games really good?

these are awesome for pdf reading/editing. okay for retro games (with a controller). amazing for watching shows

    • It's much better once you enable Dex.

      • Tried that and yes the interface is much more like windows and better than the iPad. However, the software is still limited which was my point

  • Or, you can use Office 365 from Samsung Internet. Have you tried it?

    • Office online is about as capable as the mobile apps but has the same restrictions for advanced functions. It certainly usable but for some users it is missing essential functionality e.g. a reference manager plugin

  • Any issues with using this for a primary kids school device. My wife is saying it should be an ipad but this looks good.

  • Got this for $1080 during it launch thanks to stacking discounts.

  • Does anyone know where to get the official Samsung book cover keyboard for this? - it seems everywhere is sold out?
