Apple iPad 9th Gen Wi-Fi 64GB $447 + Delivery ($0 Metro/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Officeworks

440

Great iPad for school or general use, just in time for those ‘back to school’ purchases. Runs the latest iOS 17.2, plus having 64gb is bonus compared to the minimum 32gb from the previous gens. $447 is matching the all time lowest price! 👍

I’ve done some homework for you all, so if you have some vouchers to burn, grab it from JB below.
* JB has this for $449 - link
* Amazon HAD this for $449, but has now sold out.

That's not 64GB that is available to users, so it starts to disappear quickly. Consumers need to stop talking about 64GB at this price point like they're grateful for it in 2024. It's disgusting and shamefully greedy by a trillion dollar multinational company.

Not everyone needs 2TB like you my dude, my mom just plays Mahjong and checks facebook, bit of netflix. So Apple providing a cheaper model with less GB worked out well for her. Feel free to pay extra for your needs, I would have been happy if there was a 32GB model for even cheaper…

Hmmm, now why would you be seeking clarification on cashback from the Apple Store, and quite recently too. I sure hope you’re not even thinking about supporting this ‘shamefully greedy.. trillion dollar multinational company’ right???? 🧐

Are you seriously that guy that trawls through someone's comments trying to catch them out and prove them wrong or for being a hypocrite? You seriously don't have anything better to do? Go outside and get some fresh air for the sake of humanity.

People need to get over Ram sizes, it’s getting a little boring!

Depending on breed, sheep show a range of heights and weights. Their rate of growth and mature weight is a heritable trait that is often selected for in breeding. Ewes typically weigh between 45 and 100 kilograms, and rams between 45 and 160 kilograms.

Hope this helps people get over the Ram sizes…

The iPad 9th gen is a 2021 product. It’s been this price and lower heaps of times, I figure for a product heading into its 3rd year of life it’s not that great of value at this price now. The storage amount is probably not much of an issue for those buying this product at this time. But if a user intends on keeping it for a long time it can turn into a problem. Over time iPad OS will continue to become more bloated and apps grow in size, so down the track it can develop into a problem.

I did see an interesting video recently, where an older iPhone can out perform the latest iPhone 15, provided they run the original version that comes with the phone. I found it interesting that old hardware could be faster. But I guess despite all these faster new chips, the software gets more bloated and this in turn leads to worse performance.

No one is implying that the advertised base memory is available to the users, and it is probably fair to assume the same logic applies for majority of devices. So not sure where you’re drawing that conclusion from. The 64GB which was highlighted was in comparison and is relative to the previous gens, which had 16Gb or 32GB base memory. Again, i’m confuzzled to see where you’re drawing your conclusions from. If you’re against any profit making corporate giants, just vote with your feet/wallet/purse, no point stressing over something which you probably don’t fully comprehend.

May I suggest you put away whatever herbs you may be smoking and take a break from the internet. Stay positive dude, start the new year with some positivity 😂

  • Was hoping for better, but this will do for now, thanks OP! Time to retire my kid's iPad Air 2.
On a side note, what do you do with an old iPad which will not get any more OS updates (apart from trading it in or selling it for peanuts)?

You can use it as a HomeKit device or just a dedicated streaming device connected to speakers/amp. As it stands right now, iPad 6th gen is still receiving the latest iOS updates (17.2 being latest), so as a result, the 9th gen should technically have another 2-3years of update left.

Best part of $500 for an aging 64gb tablet…I'd be wanting to see ongoing security updates and support as a pretty strong selling point; at least 4 years.

If they can't commit to thats it's barely fit for the purpose of student/organisational use which pretty much keeps this series and spec level afloat.

        • Interestingly, the 6th gen was released 5 years and 9 months ago and is still receiving updates. But I’m thinking that its days are numbered, given that the size of the dates requires ~5-6Gb of available space to download and install. Given that the 9th gen was released in 2021, I’d hope that there will be updates at least till 2025 given that the processor is significantly more powerful than the 6th gen (A10 vs A13). But as with anything tech related, there are no guarantees.

          • @moo: I'd want a commitment before buying this I think. iPad 9 is the lowest spec level for my kid in Foundation, but given they use iPads until Y3 (T4/eoy '27) this device will be out of support by then so in theory end of Y1 next year we're up for a new iPad and 2 yrs later up for the laptop. No thanks.

I think it's one last consumer level push to clear out stock because for many productivity uses (accept for Nana's recipes) this doesn't add up.

            • @buffalo bill:

I think it's one last consumer level push to clear out stock tbh

It would be, given that the 10th gen has been released for over a year now.

              • @moo: The 10th gen is a different product, no home button

There will be a whole bunch of new iPads this year.

Good call! I stand corrected my good sir!

  • Any tips on a super cheap iPad for the young kids to use while travelling (plane etc, not typically to be used otherwise)? Even this iPad would be overkill.

Basically just want something to load up a few shows/movies and maybe a few small simple games. I imagine 32gb would be fine. I've checked eBay for used models but seems like a bit of a minefield (iCloud locked, random damage etc). Nothing cheap on the Apple refurb store at the moment.

  • Just bought one, thanks!
They were like over $500 a week ago. Lucky I didn't pull the trigger then.

    • $537 at Office works 2 weeks ago.

  • I just bought this for $500+ couple days ago….

What are the chances Officeworks will allow me to return and buy again at sale price? Or refund the difference?

    • Buy another and return the new unit with the old invoice? Assuming that it is still within the 'change of mind' return period.

  • Costco current selling the silver for 439.99, if you go to OW and 5% price beat that takes it to $418
