    • Can you tell me a bit more about the 20% off. Is that for AppleCare+ after we buy a product from Education Store, say an iPad?

Are you referring to Cashrewards and Shopback boosted cashback? They had 8% a little more than a week ago.

      • Yes sir. I missed that by a few hours unfortunately.

They can argue : we give you $240 Apple Gift card for $30 more :)

      • nah i saw 1278 yesterday on JB for M1 MBA, but they fixed the price back to the same as the apple store / education store 1349 now.

    • yeah, so I bought from apple to get a $240 gift card. odred online and didn't required student ID.

Pro 16 with 10c/16c M1 Pro and 16/512 is $2879 for those who like 16 inchers. These are real desktop replacement, but kinda heavy. I am 14 inch fan myself

  • when do you get the gift card? i just placed the order and got confirmation but no gift card?

    • +1

24 hours after your product ships/is collected.

      • hm ok im yet to get it. i got it delivered on Sat. Should i wait for another day?

        • Was your order shipped from China (CTO) or Sydney (Warehouse)?
Wait another day and check your junk mail and if it’s still not there then call Apple.

          • @FrugalNotStingy: it came the next day so Im assuming it was from Sydney.

            • +1

@lknight: From my experience, I usually receive those free Apple gift cards in the evening or late at night. Wait until tomorrow then contact Apple. These things can get delayed up to a few working days.

              • @FrugalNotStingy: thanks for all your replies. Nothing in email so far.

Do the Support team check for ID before issuing the GC? I purchased this for my son who is in high school but the terms say it is only for Uni students and staff? Maybe that is why I didnt get one mailed to me?

                • @lknight: Apple does not check for student ID before issuing the GC. They rarely ask to verify student status for online orders and if they do, they’ll usually only ask before they ship the order. If your order went through and the order has already been delivered, Apple won’t check if it is a legitimate education store order before they send the GC as the order would have given the all clear.

In your order confirmation email or invoice does it say the order includes the free GC? If not then you might have made a mistake and ordered from the AOC store instead.

If it does mention about the GC then call Apple and they will sort it out and they will not ask for student ID verification.

          • @FrugalNotStingy: Looks like China warehouse may come quicker. Mine was shipped from CTO and I got the gift card instantly when the status updated to “Shipped”.

            • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: Same as mine. They sent me the gift card an hour after they sent me the shipping email for my order shipped from China.

  • I'm thinking of buying the M2 Macbook air but I'm struggling to choose between 8gb or 16gb of ram. My primary use is web browsing, office programs and maybe some light (such as PyTorch on small datasets) coding. Would 8gb suffice or is 16gb enough?

    • 8gb is enough for your use case. However, I’d recommend getting the 16gb if you are planning to keep the MacBook for a few years.

      • Yep, definitely keeping this laptop for 5+ years. Ideally 8 years. But 1.9k price tag is a bit too much. Maybe M1 suffice for around 8 years?

        • M1 would be suffice in particular with your workflow (provided it won’t break in 8 years time) but my recommendation would be get the M2 with 16gb if you plan to keep the Mac for 5+ years. If you are not in a hurry, you could wait until March to decide as the M3 MacBook Air is speculated to launch around March (but then the $240 gift card offer might end).

Today JB Hi-Fi price matched an Apple Macbook Air for $1349 (edu store) and offered me a $240 gift card .

  • Does anyone know what happens to the gift card if you return the device?

There's likely a refresh for the ipads coming, but might pick this up first for the gift card, then return it before 14 days. But I'm guessing such a stupid loophole shouldn't exist, right?

    • As I used gift cards, not sure it is the same. I think you should have 2 charges, 1 for gift card and the other one is for the device. If you only return the device, you will be charged with the gift card payment.

  • will this work with new M3 air models?

    • +1

      yes

  • Thank you OP. I had $275 worth of Apple gift cards laying around that I coupled with this deal to pick up a base model M2 Air for $1164. The $240 new gift card on top was a nice bonus.

  • You technically do not have to be a student. They will just ask what you ae studying so I dunno codeacademy?
