Molicel P26A 18650 Batteries 2 for $9.95 + $12 Shipping (Free Shipping with $150 Spend) @ Dry Herb Vaporizers

470

Was looking for some good quality 18650 cells to make RC Car batteries and stumbled across this website - seems like a very good price in Australia for Molicel cells - apparently what's used in high end electronics (Dyson as an example).
No idea how many are left, I purchased 6 pairs.

"dry herb vaporisers" yeah ill be putting my oregano in that

    • +6

Nah, it's for your feline's catnip addiction

    • +2

      It's for 'RCs' 🤭

    • +1

I put my Cannabis in mine, works wonders. Quite stealthy, no one at work notices. Love it

  • +10

I can confirm these aren't used in Dyson battery packs.

Last time I pulled one apart, it had green Samsung cells also high drain ones.

    • +1

Yep, I took apart two of them, both were green like on the picture

      • +2

Those look like Sony cells, actually these are Sony VTC4 good cells.

      • On this note, did you manage to repack your Dyson battery or was it as hard as the interwebs seems to report?

        • Too hard to repack properly. I just reused the batteries somewhere else. A replacement noname powerpack from Amazon worked as a charm

    • To be fair @albot didn't say they were ALWAYS used in Dyson (i.e if you found Samsung cells, this disproves his point) but rather that they were used - i.e they are in SOME Dyson packs, but not all.

Samsung cells are also excellent - I think the OP's point remains, that these are quality cells. :-)

      • I just read it when I was trying to find good 18650, I am happy to be wrong. Hopefully these cells work well, gonna make them into 2s2p battery for an RC car with a 540 motor.

    • +1

Neither, dyson uses almost exclusively very high current draw sony murata vtc cells.
But that doesn't translate into quality battery as evidenced by the number of dyson batteries being thrown out to recycling stations.

  • high drain Molicel P26A 35A / 2600mAh 18650 batteries

Dang, these would be great in my dry herb vape.

  • +3

Been a while since i bougth any 18650's since i quit vaping (after 35 years of smoking), but last i used were Samsung 30Q's - vapers (not the stupid kiddies using disposables filled with toxic chinese who-knows-what, but proper vapers with mods) notoriously safety conscious folk generally - and looking at the specs these apparently outperform those…so should be safe for anything normal you throw at an 18650

    • +2

Some torches/lanterns either won't operate with flat points or are problematic. There are work arounds (knob of solder, small spring or magnet) but none of the simple solutions I've read about so far is foolproof or totally safe.

  • Was looking for some good quality 18650 cells…

    Are these good quality ones?
I have never heard about "Molicel".

    • +6

what do you want to use them for?

if it helps, the well known battery tech reviewer Mooch, well known in the vape world says:

This is the best all rounder 18650 available

      https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/bench-test-results…

    • -1

Yeah, never heard of this brand too. Unless there are some users with good experience, I would stick to well known brand lithium batteries. Just saw on the news a warehouse in Sydney with electric bicycles burst into flame last night.

      • +1

those would be cheap chinese cells

not all cells are created equal

        and again, usage case?

these are better specs than cheap chinese cells

these are safer than the 18650's i put near my face for 4 years straight, for vaping…

        Specs:

Rated Capacity: 2.6Ah (Typical), 2.5Ah (Minimum)
Rated Discharge: constant 0.52A discharge until 2.5V at 23C
Rated Charge: Limiting 2.6A and constant 4.2V charge for 1.5 hours or 50mA at 23C
        Nominal Voltage: 3.6V
Shipping Voltage: >3.45V (approximate state of charge on arrival <30%)

Check what you want to use them for against the specs

and also a battery is also only as good/safe as the charger you use….

      • +3

Genuine Molicels are top notch, They are a very well known and respected brand

    • -1

      Yes

  • -1

Capacity is pretty weak at 2600mAh for a 18650 battery but you'd only get if you need the highest amps.

Can get up to 3500mAh or 3000mAh for less but need to wait for delivery. LittoKala's are decent and good value

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006143677298.html

    • +3

that 2600MAh is a normal capacity and safe though….

the LittoKala';s are just rewrapped Samsung 30Q's (so they claim) which ive already mentioned i used when i last used 18650's, id rather buy the genuine ones from a reliable source than some random off Ali Express

Vapers like to not blow their hands or face off, though, ymmv

      • +1

If you're going for high amps then it seems to be lower capacity.

    • +9

This is why you have to be extremely cautious with battery advice from Ozbargain comments. Also be cautious of my comment!
You've linked Littokala batteries. They're not decent nor good value. They're rewrapped from some other unknown Chinese manufacturer. What's more, you've linked to the unofficial fake Littokala store that's only been around for 2 years. If you google Littokala it takes you to their site and through there, the Aliexpress link is for a store that's been around since 2013.
So not only would you be buying possibly fake re-wrapped cells, but you'd be getting fake re-wrapped cells from a fake store.

I've actually tried Littokala from the OFFICIAL store and found some to be 0.0v a few years later.

      • From what I remember from reading battery reviews from the torch side of things, I thought Littokala had some reasonably decent batteries.

        • These are my recommendations for Liitokala cells.
          21700 Lii-50E 5000mAh
          21700 Lii-40A 4000mAh (Higher Drain)
          18650 Lii-VTC5A 2600mAh (Higher Drain)

Note: I state "Higher Drain" because they are far from real high drain batteries like Samsung 40T or Molicel P42A. They can't do 10C discharge but is good for applications that require under 15A like most torches and some vapes.

Is dryherbvaporizers.com.au selling legit Molicel cells?

Mooch shared a list of N-Power Energy Limited (NPE) authorised vendors of Molicels a few years ago.

vapoureyes was the only vendor on the list for Australia a few years ago.

Mooch considers P26A to be equal to P28A:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/electronic_cigarette/comments/bhkuj…

So $9.95 for 2x P26A is pretty good if legit.

    P28A is $12.95 from vapoureyes:
    https://vapoureyes.com.au/collections/batteries-chargers-and…

    P28A is $16.95 from dryherbvaporizers:
    https://dryherbvaporizers.com.au/product/authentic-molicel-p…

The price difference makes me wonder whether dryherbvaporizers gets them via NPE directly or via some other third party, hence the need to bump the price up a bit to make some profit.

    I use a bunch of 10440, 14500, 18350, 18650, 21700, 26800 cells for torches.

Some manufacturers of high powered torches bundled Molicel P26A cells in due to their high continuous discharge rate (CDR).

Molicel P42A 21700 and P45B 21700 are kind of popular among torch enthusiasts.

Hi Tim. I saw this deal on the DHV website a while ago and made some enquiries. They claim they buy direct from the Taiwan factory and have had no negative feedback about the cells, P26As are older leftover DHV stock - around mid 2022. They now buy the P28As which are fresh stock relatively speaking.

Just ordered some P28A for my with a bulk discount when purchasing 4 or more from Vapoureyes. They're 2800mAh 35A.

Cheers for the heads up. Just ordered 4 x P28A and some Starry dosing caps and it worked out the same price with free shipping as ordering 4 x P26A and the same dosing caps with shipping from DHV.

Another option is to grab a Ferrex battery pack when they're reduced at Aldi & strip the batteries out of them.

I remember a member posted pictures of them & they were Samsung 18650's inside.

    • +1

Sounds kind of tempting. Any idea of the cells are protected or unprotected? I'd guess unprotected if they're part of a pack.

    • I have some Ozito 2amp batteries I don't really need. Do you think I could break them down for some 18650's for my torches?

      • +1

Sure, as long as you're positive they're 18650's.

        • cheers

    • +1

Aldi moved to 21700 cells, so no more 18650 cells.

  • Pickup locally from Bunnings $13.02 Solar Magic 2200mAh Lithium Ion Rechargeable Batteries - 2 Pack

    • +5

Bunnings… very likely to be bottom of the barrel garbage sourced from the cheapest Alibaba vendor. No way would I buy rechargeable lithiums from there.

      • +2

I should have added to this, that I used to make DIY battery packs for lighting. I had a mix of cheap Chinese cells, Nitecores and Sanyo/Sony cells.

The cheap Chinese ones all died within 2 years under careful storage conditions (half charge). The Nitecores were still working 5-7 years later. Can't remember what I did with the Japanese cells.

From what I have seen of Bunnings products, they tend to just buy the cheap crap and maybe stick a slightly fancier label on it.

    • +2

They are low drain low current ones. Fine for solar lights, useless for tools and RC cars

  • Okay thanks guys

  • What kinda RC are you planning on putting it In?

    • I have a wltoys 12427, would like some more runtime.

      • @albot you can pick up a Gens Ace 2200mAh for $33,
Or wait till HobbyKing get stock in Aust, depending on how much room you have, you can get an 8000mAh Turnigy for $62!

All depends on the room and what pack is in there, my 1/18th crawler will go for 2-3 hours on a tiny 900mAh lipo.

  • Was thinking of picking some of these up but was after higher capacity. Noticed that Lanplus has some Tpower 3500mah for $8.25 each and at least for me the postage is free. (unsure if it's based on location)

    • +1

Beware of fake ratings on no name brands. As far as I know the onlys ones that can hit 3500mah are LG Samsung Panasonic Sanyo. Maybe a molicel too. High capacity cannot have high current as well. Maybe 10 amp max

  • +1

thanks op - bought a couple - cheers

  • discarded laptop batteries are an excellent source for 18650 batteries.

original batteries will often use samsung or other brand quality batteries.

use a smart charger, like a Littokala , and test the capacity of each battery to determine it's health.

    • Laptop batteries only give you 10a draw max

  • I’m trying to find some replacement batteries for my dive torch would any of you kind folk be willing to telling me if these would work with this?

    https://adreno.com.au/products/bigblue-al1300np-narrow-led-t…

    Thanks

    • +1

The information on the site says
The light has a rechargeable lithium ION 18650 battery pack and a colour coded battery indicator that lets you know when to recharge the battery for optimum use.

So I would say yes. This battery should be fine in your torch.
