After seeing the Multi charger on discount on price hipster (info below), went to pick up and saw this kit with 2 x 4ah batteries and charger only for $100!

Does not appear to be listed on Bunnings website, however, kit appears on the ozito site.

Not sure if its better than this kit (2x2.5ah, 2x4ah, 2 separate chargers)

Streuth - good week to be in the Ozito ecosystem

    • +1

Matching the Aldi tool sale. Happens twice per year.

    • No! I’ve become an addict. Stop me before I buy again.

    • after watching 4 Corners this week I'm more than happy to stay permanently out of the Ozito (Bunnings) ecosystem

      • I was about to say, what happened with the report from 4 corners? Then I thought I'd ask chatgpt, and damn it had a pretty good succinct summary.

Yeah, fair enough. I had never really thought about it to be honest.
But I feel the next option in the power tool food chain is ryobi….which is almost also exclusively available through bunnings, which is probably the same issue really?

I guess it also highlights how important Masters, and to a kind of lesser extent the last surviving independents are.

        • +1

yeah Ryobi is exclusive to Bunnings too so same issue. For cheap I'd go with Aldi's ferrex/xfinity brand or spend some extra on quality and go with Makita; DeWalt or Milwaukee. At least those brands are sold by other retailers such as Total Tools and Mitre 10 plus online retailers so there's often specials on them.

As an aside I had to buy a 1200mm steel lintel recently and I looked it up on Bunnings website and they wanted $42 for the size I needed. At my local independent hardware store the same size lintel was $29.99. They really are just taking the piss out of their customers at this point. With the margins Bunnings are making it says an awful lot about how badly run the Masters group were that they went bust

          • @JeffOz:

            taking the piss

nah you're right on that, i guess its the convenience fee.

As much as I love Total Tools / Trade Tools - for me, all the ones that are nearby me are actually pretty inconvenient to go to. The extra petrol and time alone is worth coughing up for bunnings - not to mention most of ozbargain also still has a catch subscription so have access to free delivery too for non-bulky goods . It is food for thought though. Wonder what will happen in the next 12 months now that they have expanded into auto related goods - whether or not it will impact chains like SCA, Repco etc

  • Is this in store only?

    • Must be in store only

  • Very well priced for anyone thinking about getting into the ecosystem.

Flawed ecosystem in my experience, because of the plastic being too thin on the battery where it couples to the skin.
      Cracks and eventually breaks off.

      • +1

That's unfortunate, was it covered under warranty? Which battery and tool(s) did that happen with?

    Ozito PXC 18V 4.0Ah Battery 3-Pack for $99.

    Ozito PXC 18V 2 x 4.0Ah & 2 x 2.5Ah Battery + 2 x Charger Kit for $129.

    • Yeah, either of these seem to present better value. I copped the $129 pack and will sell the two chargers on FB for $15 each, netting me 2x4Ah and 2x2.5Ah for $100

      • +1

who would buy it when the 2.5Ah battery with charger is $19.98 at Bunnings.

        • +1

          114 sold.
Last year, I listed my S23 Ultra on eBay for $950. A week later, eBay offered me a promotion no final value fees for listing three items, so I created a new listing at $900, but I forgot to delete the original one. Interestingly, a buyer ended up purchasing the $950 listing instead of the $900 one. It just goes to show you never know what other people will choose. After I had to contact the buyer to cancel the $950 order and ask them to purchase the $900 one instead.

I would be keen on 5.2ah dual packs

  • Too bad the Einhell escooter never made it to Australia under Ozito.

  • +3

I bought two packs of 2.5ah battery+charger (PXBC-25B) for $19.98 each from Hoppers Crossing store this week. Can't see the deal online though. Closest one is the below for $69 (PXBC-250C)

Should have a triple charger by now to pair with those triple battery deals

  • Is there any benifit to having a dual charger or 2x single chargers?

    • Convenience

  • I am so confused now with these packs and prices. What would be the better option, this for $99 or the 2 x 4.0Ah and 2 x 2.5Ah and the two individual chargers for $129? Or the 3 pack of 4.0Ah for $99.

I would think that if I already have two single chargers, then the additional two 2.5Ah batteries in the $129 pack for ~$15 each would be the go?

I break it down by adding the value of battery capacity you're getting. AI formats it nicely below:

      Option 1: 3× 18V 4.0Ah batteries – $99

      • Total Capacity: 3 × 4.0Ah = 12.0Ah
      • Cost per Ah: $99 / 12 = $8.25 per Ah
      • Includes Charger? No

      Option 2: 2× 18V 4.0Ah batteries + dual charger – $99

      • Total Capacity: 2 × 4.0Ah = 8.0Ah
      • Cost per Ah: $99 / 8 = $12.38 per Ah
      • Includes Charger? Yes (dual)

      Option 3: 18V 2× 4.0Ah, 18V 2× 2.5Ah batteries + 2× single chargers – $129

      • Total Capacity: (2 × 4.0Ah) + (2 × 2.5Ah) = 13.0Ah
      • Cost per Ah: $129 / 13 = $9.92 per Ah
      • Includes Charger? Yes (2 × single)

      Verdict:

      • Best value per Ah: Option 1 (3× 4.0Ah batteries for $99)
      • Best all-round if you need chargers: Option 3 (most total Ah + chargers)
      • Best for dual charging: Option 2 (but lowest capacity overall)

Since I already have chargers from various skins I find option 1 with the 3 4Ah batteries to be best value.

Things AI will not tell you.

3x 4.0Ah, longer runtime. When it gets older the internal resistance will rise, and capacity will drop but because it's a big pack you still have useful amount of runtime. The 4.0Ah consist of 10 cells in a 5S2P config. The battery internal resistance is also lower due to the 5 cells wired in 2 parallel strings.

The 2.5Ah 5 cells battery work much harder than the 4.0Ah because the single string cells will have to supply twice the amount of current compared to the double string cells 4.0Ah. In another word, 1 person doing the job of 2 person. So the 2.5Ah will have a shorter service life and won't be as 'strong' when it ages. So, the smaller 2.5Ah performance is sensitive to aging. I wouldn't use the 2.5Ah on high current draw tools such as angle grinder, it will quickly charge-cycle itself to death.

The benefit of 2.5Ah, it is much lighter, so it reduces fatigue especially for overhead work. Perfect for putting together flatpack furniture and drilling lots of holes in wood. It has less weight, so it's less likely to break if you drop it and hangs comfy on tool belt.

For such low price, just buy them again when they age, dont worry too much take it easy.

      • which is why i bought the $129 pack

        2.5ah for light quick work

4ah for heavy duty, comes with chargers. so goo if ur just joining the ecosystem

to add 3 4ah batteries later, there super affordabl all things considering

        • Lol convinced me. Ended up returning the $99 dual charger pack nd get the $129 pack.

          • +1

@flylin: would you pay additional $10 to get extra 4aH battery.

            If so, then buy:
            3 pack 4.0aH battery ($99) and
            2x 2.5aH battery pack ($19.98*2= $40)

            • @No ONE: This is excellent, you have two chargers, one in the house and one in the shed or in the car wherever you go.
