Thanks finally pulled the trigger and upgraded from iPhone 7!

Wow thats more than double phone!

      • +5

There's no iPhone 9 so I guess it's exactly double phone

    • That's a huge upgrade. My iPhone 7 has been collecting for a while.

      • +3

        Collecting dust? Money? Gold? Hehe

        • Currently I use it for geo deals. Not sure what the market value for it tho. I'm also thinking of an upgrade to make a backup phone.

          • @Bii: geo deals? could you please elaborate on this? thanks

@BigLeviathan: Something like iCloud or OneDrive that can be paid with iTunes credit

Anecdote alert, I recently went from a personally owned 12 to a work paid for 15 and I cant tell the difference.

If you gave me those 2 phones to use, only for the dynamic island i wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

I would assign $5 as the retail value of having dynamic island vs notch. The dynamic island is an ever so slightly less ugly and intrusive blight at the top of the display..

Obviously not a photograph enthusiast. I upgraded from 12 to 14 and difference in the photo quality is massive

      • I have photos in my iCloud library from my iPhone 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6S, SE1, 8, 12, 15 and they all look fine to me.

Nearly all of the photos i take are outdoor landscape in full daylight and from the 6S onwards there aint much in it.

        • +3

Probably look fine to you and that’s perfectly ok. But for someone who loves photography there’s definitely a noticeable difference. Though I did upgrade to Pro, so its probably why the difference is even more obvious.

@John: if you love photography then you wouldn't be using a phone at this price point there are plenty that are much cheaper.

            • @Mario g: You’re not entirely wrong. I used to jump on Huawei because the picture quality are better than Apple phone at the time. Used it for about 3 years. But I went back to Apple because I love its Apple Watch and I couldn’t find a better smartwatch in the Android world in all those years.

              • @John: LOL I wonder why i got neged..? not my problem if people dont like the truth… some strange people on this website.

      • -2

Don’t want to have a debate between android and iOS, but recently I tried iOS especially iPhone 12pro, compared to S23 iPhone 12 Pro is definitely not as good picture compared to s23.

I thought having a pro version of iPhone would help the picture quality, I was wrong

        • +3

You compared a Samsung flagship from 2023 to an Apple flagship from 2020 and you are surprised that the quality is lower?

        • +3

The real justification for me is with iOS software upgrades for 5-6 years and my iPhone 6s from 2013 still gets the security updates, also Apple warranty post sales customer service and finally the magic of Apple ecosystem.

I upgraded from XS to iPhone 15, I’m a basic user there’s definitely camera upgrade’s, improved battery life and faster processor other than that I don’t see huge upgrades.

          • +1

@Gokku: If you’d had a 6 rather than 6s you wouldn’t have gotten iOS updates as it was discontinued quite some time ago ! I’m on an iPhone 10 that’s running like a slug - was thinking to go to the 15 as I’m constantly having issues with lightning cables not charging the 10.

            • @dammit: I had no problems with my XS, but the battery replaced by Apple was draining a bit quickly, so sold off my XS and bought myself 15 as a Christmas present 🙂.

      • It definitely wasn't for me. Going from an X, to. 12 pro, some minor difference at best. Then to a 13 pro Max.. Barely any difference hence went to the dark side with an ultra and again, similar thing but more poppy colours and crazy zoom levels which came in handy on holidays I'm on.

      • If you are an enthusiast, surely you would be looking at the pro max, or an actual camera right? I came from 11pro to 15 pro, and it's slightly different, but taking blurry photos of my kid and pets is still the same.

        • I have actual camera and lenses (in wedding industry for 10+ years).. but really with two kids on tow I can’t be bothered carrying it around. Pro Max is too big for my pocket. I’m an enthusiast, casual professional at best, but I’m also on budget and I like comfort :)

I haven’t had pro for some years (on budget, again). So you’re probably not wrong with the pro quality difference. I know a great photographer who swore by his 11 Pro. At the end is about the person behind the camera after all.

Though I love the Cinematic video mode on 13 onwards. Wasn’t available on 12 under

USB-C is worth the price alone!

      • if Apple had their way (instead of being force to by EU) they would still be using lightning port

    • Battery life should be night and day.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference Australian stock compared to other stock, just a guarantee that its genuine?

    • -3

Australian Consumer Law does not apply to overseas stock
3G/4G/5G radio frequencies can be different on overseas models which would mean poor reception here
Wifi channel support could be different depending on the regulatory domain
Australian Apple stores might refuse to service overseas models if there is an Apple recall/replacement program

Unless youre a massive nerd who wants to investigate all of this nonsense I'd strongly suggest buying Australian stock only, then you dont need to worry about any of it.

      • +2

ACL applies to anyone selling anything in Australia. Having more layers involved like importers and distributors sometimes makes "official channels" an easier and safer option for a buyer, as you can call on any of these layers to remedy your problem, but your right to a "remedy" applies regardless. Grey imports often have only one layer, and their customer service might be terrible and difficult.

        • Also, consumer law can’t do much if you’re buying from some unknown small business that’s likely to shut down in the next few months.

        • Thanks, appreciate the explanation!

Does anybody have a screenshot of the cart or their tax invoice to share? Many thanks

  • ahh missed it :(
