Things to know:
• To use the code - you must sign up and login.
• Minimum gift card purchase is $20.00 per retailer;
• GCX Exchange has a daily, combined gift card purchase limit of $5,000.00
• Maximum purchase of two (2) three (3) exchange gift cards during the Promotion Period
• We currently do not accept AMEX cards
• Most will not be given (beta test) Paypal as an option for checkout

This offer is not available with any other promotion or points reward. For T&C's go here

Update: The promotion has been extended ↓↓ see below ↓↓

  • It seems that there's been a few of you that missed the cutoff and contacted our customer support for an extension of the promotion. So, as a way of further showing our appreciation, we've extended the sale to now close at 11:59pm this Sunday. Once again, thank you!
  • Due to the amazing feedback and suggestions, and as a thank you to the community for that feedback, we've added an additional use per code, making it now 3 per customer, not 2.
Meaning: If you've used your two codes up already, you've got the opportunity to use one more.
  • And thanks to all your feedback, we've already tweaked our rewards platform, so now its the purchaser that gets the GCX rewards (not the recipient). Also in the coming weeks we'll be modifying our 5K daily limit to apply to financial transactions only (i.e credit-card) and exclude credits/discounts. Whereas before it applied to any transaction, including credits and discounts. And YES, to the AMEX card holders, we do hear you, but it's going to take some maneuvering and time to get AMEX transactions across the line, but we are working on it.

    no 6% or better? 🥺

  • +15

They have a point system now too, which gives ~1.4 points per dollar credit you spend exchanging for GCs. Every 100 points can then be exchanged for $1 credit. Think of it as a bonus 1.4% cashback with some limitations.

Exchanging GCs is slightly more cumbersome than Prezzee (each card needs to be activated), but they allow custom amounts >$20 for stores like eBay/Amazon.

    • No double dip, either discount code or points.

      • +3

You get 5% off the Exchange card which adds credit to your account, when you buy a GC with that credit you automatically get points. They're separate.

        • +2

It looks like exchanging with credit no longer gives points =(

    • Very nice.

  • Can I get an idea how this card works? I see you are partnered with 100+ brands which can each have a giftcard bought for. Does this one just cover them all? Is it a physical card supplied? Not sure if this is obvious but I can't quite work it out.

        thanks, was hoping for Coles

  • +1

its already working FYI. Bought 2.5k for $2375

Can use it at leisure on amazon, ebay or bunnings as those are my major spends.

  • website struggling already? Im getting an error 3d secure etc etc :( lol both safari + chrome. got it working. hoping no extra charges.

    No Amex correct.

  • No Amex ?

    • +1

And No Coles or Woolworths options, far inferior to Prezzee that still has the bonus deal on.

It only interests those big spenders on Amazon.

      • Actually they have Wish Cards

        Woolies etc…

  • +1

    Is JB-HIFI not supported?

  • +2

For those wondering, they (still) do not accept Amex

    • I read somewhere that amex was dropping costs to merchants to match V& MC
anyone got further info on that ?

      Hopefully G.C.Exchange will add Amex.

      • +1

The GP surgery I visit has lower surcharge for Amex charge/credit cards than for Visa/MC credit cards. Maybe something to do with this.

      • +1

According to the RBA (in 2022), the costs of accepting American Express have declined significantly over the past decade, but they remain the most expensive networks, with average merchant fees of around 1.3 per cent of the transaction value.
By contrast, Mastercard and Visa credit card transactions attract an average merchant fee of 0.9 per cent.

        So a whopping 0.4% difference in 2022.

However, I think that Visa / MC fees have dropped since then.

        • +1

Or 0.4% difference is actually 44% mark up on Amex compared to Mastercard or Visa.

If you incurred $100 on fees to Mastercard / Visa, this would be $144 fee on Amex.

We're all failing over ourselves for 5% but the difference between Amex and M/V is huge!

Btw, I'm an Amex lover, but just saying this as I wish they would reduce their fees closer to that of M/V.

    • +2

What makes it worse is: it won't let you know it until you register an account. Why not list the payment options in FAQ?

      • And PayPal is accepted but only to purchase " within " the site.
        ( to buy giftcards)

        • What do you mean by the site? I couldn't see the option with any giftcards

Is there any way to purchase this gift card via Paypay?

          • @JeremyDealFiend: Only if you don't want the discount

( that's why we are here right)

            Re: paying by Paypal

  • your website is giving me constant 404

    "Oops!
We can’t seem to find the page you are looking for.

    Error code: 404"

after i enter my password and hit login

  • Coming up as usage limit reached

  • Cool. Bunnings is there too

  • Waow, PAYPAL is now accpeted ! I was struggling with payment and alwasys got error and the code was no longer working.

    • Any ideas how you got the option?

I don't see the option, once clicking checkout it shows a section to add card details straight away

      • Check the top. Seems like not everyone could get this option. As a loyal customer, I'm lucky to be involved

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought $1450 worth of cards and converted to Amazon including the points, this would mostly cover the $1.5k per month spending for the Virgin money velocity flyer card.

    • +1

Orig Poster is happy. Thanks OBG (OzBargainCrew), I'm not going to get personal, but I love a good saving. That's why we are building this. Welcome 2024.

  • +1

    No amex no likey.

I need to find a new card to get velocity signup bonus that also offers instant digital credit card so I can buy $5k of gift cards before this deal expires.

  • +1

Wish I was beta for PayPal. Stupid credit card not working with 3d secure error :(

    • +1

Customer support is always there in the morning, they might be able to help. We're just the Tech Dev's over here ;)

      • Thanks for the assistance. I believe the issue is with my bank anyways. Keep up the great work.

        • No worries, and Yes, its because of our industry. We do our best.

  • Thanks OP, bought $4500 of GC apple stuff, to stack with cashreward's edu cashback. Heads up to anyone buying $2500+ of giftcards. You may be held up to 2 hours since GCX limits your daily spends to $5000 ($2500 for GCX credit in this deal, $2500 for buying GC using GCX credit).

    • Edit: Called support and chatted with Ray. He was rly nice and solved the issue of converting GCX credits to apple giftcards - he changed my account to a business account to do the transactions on the same day.

      • Spoke to Ray a long time ago, he was great.

    • I thought every Ozbargainer will take advantage of Coles or Woolworths Apple gift card (~10% off) and someone even keeps a lot like me. LOL

      • Some want straight cash rather than flybuys/reward points

  • +1

All preped for ebay's Afterpay day sale, which will be mid February. :)

Note for anyone wondering, the max you can redeem in giftcards for any one transaction on ebay is $1500 (8 codes max too, which means max 7 giftcards, and 1 afterpay day code).

    • and there is a monthly limit on the amount on giftcards you can use aswell.

      • +1

        Yup.

        From,
        https://pages.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards-terms/

11 . No more than a total of AU $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction, no more than a total of AU $2,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of AU $5,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

  • So that I understand, I can buy $100 and exchange it with various gift cards from multiple stores, let’s say $50 Amazon and $50 eBay? And only pay for $95

    Is that correct?

    • yes, I've bought $1000 for $950 and spent it on $500 woolies and $500 amazon

      • Huh? They don’t have woolies as their option?

        • +2

You buy "credits", not "exchange card", and then you can use those credits (+points) on any card they have in store.

        • We have certain cards available to GCX+ members.. so if you're a member of GCX+ (which currently wink wink is free to join), and logged in, a selection of cards become available including woolies. Current cards, off the top of my head are (with more to come in 2024):

          • WISH
          • Woolworths
          • BIG W
          • BWS
          • eg Fuel Cards
          • Dan Murphy's

          Hope that helps :)

  • Thanks OP.
Pretty easy website once I got the hang of it.

    • @nekov no worries. Glad to be of service.

  • +6

    Thank you GCX.
Once you have redeemed a GC is it possible to mark it as "USED" ?
I prefer to mark it as used rather than delete.

    • This is also the biggest functionality I'm missing. Since there's no archive option, sometimes I end up with too many gift cards that I'm not sure if I've used.

  • Any one else getting checkout issues?
Tried different browsers etc but unable to go through
Unsure if site issue or commbank 3d payment thing error…
Also when click other payments default to credit card and wont give me paypal option :(

    • Yes, I got below error when paying last night and this morning.

Oops! D4405 | Please try another card. If problem persists, contact us.

  • People are able to convert to Wish although not on the list. Is Officeworks available?

    • +1

Could not see Officeworks within their site.
Be a good one to add for sure.

  • great

  • Thanks GCX! The previous 6% discount was also super useful. I wished I bought more after it ended.

    • +1

@Schrodinger our pleasure, great to hear feedback that the discounts and our offers are appreciated!

  • What's everyone getting if getting?

    • +1

useful for Amazon or Bunnings which >5% is not that common. Keep as GCX card and change as you require

  • Well I caved and upgraded to a quest 3! 1k in gift cards for $950… used $800 on 128gb model… then got 1900 points on site, so another $19 gift card too.. not bad :)

  • HI ,
Just checking how long it takes for credit to come into wallet.
    Its been 1.5 hrs

    Anyone could help on this

    • immediate

    • Did you end up getting your credit? Its been a few hours for me as well and I'm not seeing it in my wallet yet too. Concerns me that others have said it is immediate!

      • A quick FYI: Credit gets attached to your account and you can use it on checkout instead of cash, only retailer cards get attached to your wallet. Sorry for any confusion.

  • I almost forgot about this promo since the day of posting.. bought 2 cards just now, and redeemed a Wish card. Processing was immediate, received the swapped card and activated right away.

  • Yes , mine sorted too ,. Was quick ,

  • Not sure why code comes up as expired, worked for me just now

    • worked for me just now also

  • +1

@GCXSupport Is there a way to pay with PayPal? Thanks

    • If your credit card payments are being blocked please contact support via Phone and/or Chat.. they might be able to provide temporary assistance.

  • Bought $1000 worth, however didn't get any of the points that I could redeem for credit?

    • You don't get points if you used a discount code.

      • I did the first time I purchased with the discount code
