Here we go again! Bet there will be no stock of Teen cards come Wednesday :(

    • -1

Tempting to go to my local Woolworths and hide a few 😎

      • -5

        Just did ;) Only 2 x 50s

        • +1

oh my do people really do this? o.o

          • @RQNinja: Why do you think there is never any on the racks in store at the start of the offer!?

          • +3

@RQNinja: Realistically, by the time you park, walk in, find/hide the card, go back to your car, and then repeat to retrieve the next day. You've spent 20min on this already. Then you might need to exchange the card for JB or whatever and keep track of the balance if you don't spend it all. In the case of $50 x2, the saving is $10. Thus valuing one's time at $30/hr (post tax), maximum, assuming you didn't need to detour from your original destination to go to the supermarket…..

      • -3

        I was gonna suggest too!

  • +12

Come one giftcards.com.au do another round of 15% off to beat this offer.

    • I hope so.

    • Sucks for you

    • JB is in TCN Teen

You might have missed it if your head is in the clouds

      Should have gone to Specsavers.

(Which incidentally, is not an offer on any of the cards)

      • Should have gone to Specsavers.

Can the everyday extra 10% off be used on gift cards? Last i checked you couldnt

    • No

    • The Extra Discount cannot be used for or on any smoking or tobacco products and accessories, liquor, gift cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards, tickets, cash outs, delivery charges (including Delivery Unlimited items), bag fees, donations, Carpet Care, lottery products, pre-order kiosks, purchases on a charge account, BIG W Photos online, Apple products, gaming consoles, rainchecks, BIG W eBay, BIG W Market, DukeLiving, pre-orders, lay-by fees, remote and bulk orders or Everyday Market from Woolworths orders.

Even if gift cards are the only thing you are buying it will still ask you if you want to use it, don't.

    • lol, i just asked salesgirl same question yesterday , she said it doesn't work, then she scanned 1 card to prove it, yeah it did not work.

  • Anyone know if I could use this to go into JB and buy a PlayStation gift card?

    • +5

Is there a particular reason you want to do this when the PlayStation Store is currently listed as an online-only participating retailer of the TCN Teen gift card? You can go to the TCN website and exchange part or the full balance of a TCN Teen gift card for a digital PlayStation Store gift card.

Btw, JB Hi-Fi changed their gift card policy a few weeks ago to officially not allow customers from using a TCN gift card (nor an Ultimate gift card nor a JB Hi-Fi gift card) to purchase any gift card in their stores, so there is a chance that staff will stop you and/or the checkout system will automatically block you:

      14. Gift Cards and Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another JB Hi-Fi branded Gift Card or another third party gift card e.g. Steam Gift Cards, Xbox Gift Cards, Google Play Cards.

      • +2

Well that's the only thing I used it for. Thanks wookie for letting us know!

      • +1

        Sorry completely missed that. Thanks!

      • Do Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards refer to JB gift cards bought from a third party does it include TCN/Ultimate as well?

        • I would assume so, because the same gift card policy gives examples of “Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards”:

          10. Third party gift cards sold at JB Hi-Fi or at third party locations where JB Hi-Fi is one of several participating retailers on the gift card (Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards), such as Ultimate Gift Cards (e.g. the Ultimate Gift Card for Kids and the Ultimate Gift Card for Teens) and The Card Network Gift Cards (e.g. the Home Gift Card and the Teen Gift Card), will be subject to any expiry date stated on those cards.

      • "Gift Cards and Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another JB Hi-Fi branded Gift Card or another third party gift card e.g. Steam Gift Cards, Xbox Gift Cards, Google Play Cards."

So you can still buy stuff at JB HiFi with gift cards - just not gift cards. This is to stop infinite loops when they have gift cards at a discount.

      • Does that mean the trick of adding the Ultimate GC to Google Wall, then tapping your phone at the eftpos machine to pay for a JB Hi-Fi gift card will no longer work?

        • No idea! I have not heard of any OzBargainers recently try to do that.

        • +1

Just tested out ultimate gift card to purchase apple gift card, it went smoothly no questions asked!

          • @OzBed: You mean you loaded your Ultimate gift card into Google Wallet, then used it by tapping to pay for an Apple Gift Card at JB Hi-Fi?

            • +1

@dinob7: Yes but with apple wallet

              • @OzBed: Ok brilliant, thanks for the update!

              • @OzBed:

                Yes but with apple wallet

Hmm… How did you load TCN card into Apple Wallet?

      • I usually combine all the small balances of the left over gift cards by getting a JB gift card. Does that mean this will not work anymore?

        • Officially speaking, that is not allowed anymore (unless you want to use generic prepaid gift cards as a payment method - e.g. Activ Visa, Coles Mastercard, Westfield eftpos - as those do not specifically have JB Hi-Fi branding on it).

The Ultimate gift card terms and conditions also now says the following:

          2. Your use of the Card at a participating merchant is subject at all times to the policies (and, where applicable, other terms and conditions) of that participating merchant regarding the goods and services made available by it.

          3. Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any other gift cards or vouchers at participating merchants.

Whether JB Hi-Fi is actually enforcing this updated policy is a completely different question. I guess you will find out the answer the next time you try this!

  • I always get confused with "The Good Food Gift Card"; how do they compare with TCN Restaurant Card?

Will I be able to use these at most restaurants with restaurant MCC.

    • +2

If you look at the table of participating retailers in OP’s description, it says for the Good Food gift card:

Use this gift card at restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars that accept eftpos prepaid (for physical gift cards) or Mastercard prepaid (for digital gift cards) around Australia. Gift card subject to individual merchant acceptance. (Please refer to this table for more information.)

The linked table I highlighted for you in bold should address your question.

      • +1

        Thanks @WookieMonster. Helpful as always.

      • It still seems confusing. I find that the digital version of Good Food is accepted at all restaurants, except fast food so I would rather stick with that.

        • Have you tried using the digital one on delivery apps like uber or menulog?

    • I accidently bought this last time, its a ethpos card only and it worked at a restaurant not listed, from what I've read it seems to work at a lot of restaurants not listed.

But it doesn't work at fast foods like maccas I've tested.

Bring on the East Chinese Investors to clean them out again!

Woolies should be empty after Duddon slapped a boycott on the company so the gift cards should be able to be found in abundance.

  • +1

Ah yes, it's been a couple of months since those poor supermarket workers have seen some really atrocious behaviour from customers at large scale, let's do another round!

  • +1

    15% or no deal

  • Does purchasing TCN cards give you Everyday rewards points?

    • +1

      No, not in this deal.

The terms and conditions of the Everyday Rewards program makes it clear that you will only earn Everyday Rewards points on the purchase of a gift card if there is a deal/promotion that specifically advertises you will earn Everyday Rewards points.

In my recent experience, you will not earn any Everyday Rewards points on TCN gift cards at Woolworths when there is no such active deal/promotion (even if you have a generic bonus points booster for Woolworths or Woolworths Metro activated on your Everyday Rewards account).

I'm planning to buy and use 40x $50 TCN Teen Cards for a phone pre-order at JB Hi-Fi. Does it sound too much hassle?

    • +2

      Yes

    • +2

its hassle but you still save 200 so f- it why not

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

i used about 20 at JB.. just make sure you go during quiet time i.e. when the store opens on a weekday

      • +1

How long did it take to process 20?

        • I did this when I bought a phone a year or two ago (think it was 20 X $50).

Took a solid 10 mins and it was a quieter store, but saved a $100 so worth it IMO.

    • +1

According to the Giftcard Master's comment, the Teen Cards can be converted to JB vouchers and used in one online transaction. That sounds much better than redeeming 40 gift cards in store. @WookieMonster please confirm whether I read it correctly. Thanks a lot.

      • +1

        You read that correctly

        • Thanks @WookieMonster. I also spent a few hours last night to read all the comments there. It's great not to annoy the staff in store.

        • hey @WookieMonster my local woolies only had 30$ ones so bought few of them, so I went through tcn website and tried to swap teen card to jb-hi-fi card but it keep giving the same error "Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance" i checked the balance and it shows correct amount but its not swapping, is it bug on sit or do i have to wait 24 hours before I can swap'em?

  • These are Eftpos right ?

  • If I get 3 cards of $50.. do I need to put them in seperate transactions to get the 10% off.. or will it still work for all of them in the 1 transaction?

    • One transaction will work.

  • Has anyone actually used a Good Food Gift Card at a Pub?

    • +1

      The digital version yes

      • +1

        Yes, digital version.

  • Anyone know if Ikea is included on any gift card other than their own one?

    • +1

Yes. Ultimate gift cards. However they aren’t included in this promo.

  • Got 10% off of the $50 TCN Teen. Only $50 GCs are available at my closest store.
Needed to scan the Rewards card

    • Sorry to clarify, we need a Rewards card to get the discount?

      • Yes, as I tried to check out with no Rewards card before, but the 10% off did not show up. The manager told me that the Rewards card needed to be scanned to get the discount.

  • I cannot see any indication of Nintendo gift cards, can anyone show me where I can see this or do I just go into the store and scan my rewards card?

    • +1

Yep! Gotta scan your EDR card. This is stated in the terms in the OP:

scan your Everyday Rewards card to get 10% off in-store only

      • Thanks will try it out later on!

    • I saw the discounted Nintendo signs in store this morning.

      • Just went and bought one, definitely works after scanning your rewards card. Thanks!

  • +1

Plenty of teen 50s in my local. I got a
Couple and used the Special gift card I got 10% Cashback on so worked out $80 for $100. Happy with that. Wouldn’t have bothered for just the regular 10%

  • Unfortunately bought wrong gift cards (untimate gift cards) on a full price. Any way around to get a refund or credit or something?

  • +3

Got $1500 of $50 teen cards to use at JB HIFI for an iPhone. Took 3 tranactions/EDW cards (10per person per day) and about 15mins to process the 30 cards at the JB register.
The girl at JB didnt even flinch, she said she had someone pay for an 8k tv with 50s before haha!
Nice way to get $150 off.

  • +1

I keep getting the following when trying to redeem. Anyone else have this issue?

Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance.

Does it take a while to activate? I’ve got the receipts from woolies saying activation successful

    • +2

Try registering the card first before redeeming. Make sure you use your correct details because they might have to be the same when you go to redeem.

      • +1

        Thank you! That was it!

        • Was it online or in-store?

        • i tried to register and it gives me "Request failed with status code 400" error,

edit: nvm, I was looking in the wrong section earlier, swapped 2 card successfully after registering the card

  • In-store signage for this deal pictures a Good Food Gift Card and $200. I am guessing that that is the only denomination of GFGC that qualifies.

    • +1

The $100 Good Food gift card would also be included as the terms state that the offer is available on "all denominations of gift cards listed".

      • Oh ok, I get it now. I was thinking that it was on "denominations listed".

        • +2

Btw, I only saw $100 and $200 denominations when I checked three Woolworths supermarkets this evening, so I strongly suspect those are the only denominations sold instore at Woolworths.

I also saw a $50 denomination at Coles this evening, so more denominations exist, but most likely not at Woolworths.

  • +2

For anyone interested, the TCN Shop gift card was updated in the last 48 hours to include Collins Booksellers. I had never heard of them before today…

    • Pretty much a very overpriced bookshop. You can always get books cheaper at Amazon, Big W etc.
