I was looking for a new mesh to replace my old Orbi RBK50 and found this to be the cheapest price to get an Orbi AX6000 mesh.

It's pretty much the same as the non-pro version except the following additions:

SRK80 supports 4 SSID,
Hardware : SXK80 also ships with satellites that have 2.5Gbps ports.
It has prosumer/SOHO/DIY network engineer/MSP/VAR in mind.
It supports unique VLANs per SSID and ethernet ports on router/base and Satellites.

Very useful, If you run SRR80 in AP mode as you have security router/gateway for wired network. (common in SOHO/SMB). Users can be also configure wired ports as Trunk and Access mode for different VLAN. that way you can segment your wired and wireless networks.

Management:

SXK80 can be configured via local GUI and Insight webportal/App.
Insight allows 100% cloud management. Unit comes with 1 year subscription.
After that you can choose renew or not. OrbiPro local GUI will always be there.

Overpriced old tech that is two generation old now.

How’s that old tech where it’s pretty much the pro version of the RBK852? Keen to know cos I’ve spend a day comparing them.

Do you know any better routers for a similar price or even slightly more expensive?

      This is tri-band router.

      Genuine question.

  • Are those actually better though?

This one is tri-band. The ones you noted are only dual band. TP-Link $500 per unit is double the price.

    • TPlink Deco XE75 2 pack is tri-band and Wifi 6E - you could get the 2 pack for $345 at GG commercial last time I looked.

      TP-LINK Deco BE11000 Tri-Band Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi 7 System (2-pack) currently $691 on GG commercial

how do you access gg commercial without being a commercial business though? isnt that useless for the general consumer?

      • I’ve just done some digging on the XE75. There seems to be a bit of a weirdness with the wireless backhaul on the Tp Link. The 6hz backhaul by default is pretty weak and won’t work if it’s placed between couple of walls.

        Have a read here:
        https://dongknows.com/tp-link-deco-xe75-axe5400-wi-fi-6e-mes…

None the less it’s a cracker value for wifi 6e

        • I run mine wired backhaul and use the 6ghz fora separate wifi channel so wouldn't know about that.

I got this in the Black Friday sales and I've been happy with it. The base plus satellite gives good coverage across my house and no issues with 50+ devices connected. I'm on a 250/25Mbps NBN plan and it has no issues serving that up at a decent range.

  • this vs SXK30 if you are on a shitty NBN plan?? will I feel any difference?

not gaming or anything just need max speed on NBN.

    • Orbi pro minis are at $199 on Amazon au. Make sure you’ve selected the right seller.

      • damn I'm too slow. I assume you mean this one: sold out now. https://www.amazon.com.au/Netgear-SXS30-100AUS-Orbi-AX1800-S…

I'll probably wait for SXK30 to drop top $217 again.

        • It’s this but you need to select Amazon AU as seller

          Netgear SXK30-100AUS Tri-Band Orbi Pro WiFi 6 System https://amzn.asia/d/eLLxLtC

          • @xenoic: thanks for the link. tempting because it's cheap for 2 pack.

what do you think about EOL and no more updates? if I am using them just as Access point mode (not router mode) do you think it matters?

      • ok sorry I am an idiot. SXK30 is the mini model I just realised.

and yeah I found it for $199 at another local store, but also after researching looks like SXK30/50/80 were all EOL 1 year after release. no more firmware updates. will probably look at Triband Orbi consumer model.

  • This or the Google Mesh that's Wifi 6e below this deal?

    • +1

if you didn't know. all Orbi Pro SXK30, SXK50, SXK80 models were EOL'ed 1 year after release. meaning they are no longer supported by netgear and will never receive anymore updates.

they were released 2022 and EOL'ed Feb 2023. pretty terrible I am guessing they didn't sell as well as they thought and so they just stopped supporting it to save money.

as you can see here the list of Orbi Consumer EOL products is very short here (only very old V1 products): https://www.netgear.com/about/eos/

but Orbi business EOL list shows all SXK models as EOL. https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/netgear/pdfs/EOL.pdf
