Thanks for sharing. Might pick up a few.

$5AUD was roughly the price I paid for when I visited one of their stores in South East Asia a year ago. $40 is overkill.

Literally says "Non-medical & non-surgical mask, does not protect against viruses"

      Updated the description :)

    Was $45, haha good one

    • wearing a mask or wearing one of these masks?

    • +21

I was cleaning outdoors and using a blower the other day and it was making a dust storm I didn't want to breathe so I was wearing a mask. But then I took it off because I realized I was a deep state beta sheep and lungs are for soy boys.

You missed the original post before it was revised. I assume that is what he was referring to. "With COVID still lingering around might be useful"

      • +1

There's no such thing as 'extreme cold' in this country.

    • +6

Why have you got to be so judgmental?

I still wear a mask when indoor areas because:
      1) I don't want long COVID.
      2) I have vulnerable family members that I don't wan to pass diseases on to.
      3) I hate being sick and for me personally popping on a mask is better than catching a cold and ruining my week.

No one's making you wear one anymore. No one cares what you do, so why don't you do the same to others?

Such a shame health has become so political for some.

People just like to ignore science and inject feelings. Its an age of feel over fact at the moment.

Ive never had the urge to yell at doctors or surgeons to remove their masks in the hospital, but apparently taking the same precautions yourself is a 'statement'?

        Ill never get it.

During a family members chemo, I wore one. It wasnt political. Just limiting aerosol.

I totally agree. Trust me you do not want long covid, it's been a long tough road over the last 15 months.

Masks stop spit leaving your mouth and landing on things you don't want it to, that's it.

        • +1

Maybe Makebread and friends wants your spit in his eyes!

Your knowledge is very out of date and only partially correct.

Surgical masks (the cheap tissue paper like one) from the start of the pandemic do indeed offer little protection to the person wearing them. Instead their main purpose is limiting the person wearing them from spreading their germs. This is why it was important at the start that everyone wore them to protect each other.

However, N95 masks (which have been recommended for a long time now) offer much greater protection to the person wearing the mask, even if others aren't. This is why I no longer give a shit if other people choose not to wear one if they want to get sick.

Try to keep up with the facts if you're going to go around judging people…otherwise you just look ignorant.

@PainToad: N95 filter to 0.3 microns, suggest you check the size of a virus particle.

If you are sick and need to be around people then sure, wear a mask. If you are healthy and wearing a mask because you think that it will stop someone infecting you, then you are basically wasting your time.

            You do you though.

            • @7hours 44min ago: 🤦‍♂️ When someone sneezes or coughs they’re not exhaling pure independent virus particles. The virus particles are mixed in with airborne spit and mucus particles. It is those that the mask needs to be able to filter. Is it 100% effective? No. But it’s much more effective than directly breathing in other people’s snot.

The filtration effectiveness compared to the virus particle size is more relevant for Air Purifiers where the aim isn’t to act as a physical barrier, but to clean the air before releasing it back into the room.

@7hours 44min ago: Have you been sticking your head in the sand for 5 years?

Virus particles don't float around by themselves, they are loaded into droplets of water or mucus.

The UA Mask is a dumbarse product that is mostly pointless (it's certainly amusing to see people try to justify it with 'cold weather') as it's hugely overpriced and follows no spec, but you don't understand viruses despite 3 years of Covid news, and you don't understand filtration ether- it's not "down to .3 microns" and the it magically lets anything smaller through. The .3 is just the spec for a % effectiveness- the filters have been demonstrated to work on smaller particles to varying degrees of effectiveness, but it's too complex to create a standard to reflect this.

      • That's what I don't understand… who cares if someone wears one or not, its really not that big of a deal.

        • They claim to be all about “freedoms” but then attack others for choosing to wear a mask.

          Zero logic

  • +1

They’re still probably making a profit at that price.

  • I see this as a sports training mask like pseudo high altitude training :D

  • Popular down Dandenong way for robbing the local.

  • Cheers OP. Needed some for my Japan trip and these look much comfier and durable than what I usually wear

    The west has truly fallen

    • A-HA! You're in with 'big scarf'! Cant wear a sport mask, only allowed to wrap for warmth? Conspiracy! /s

disease x is coming are you ready?

    • +2

With a sports mask explicitly advertising no medical use or protection?
      That would be silly.

Under Armour makes think blue line clothes so maybe stuff em.

    • They do? I just increased my order count.

  • great when making court appearances and being filmed entering or leaving court by news crew if you want your privacy, now to get a deal on sunglasses and baseball cap. At this price no reason to be recognized on TV or CCTV. much better than a hoodie and dropping your head.
    bought some …..

    • Thank you. I was wondering what these were for.
