    Any reviews of this monitor?

    • Already received my order today, shipping really fast from SYD to MEL.
Unfortunately, I got a doggy one, the words on screen are not clear and even looks blurry, no matter I use HDMI or USB3. I tried to connect it to both my desktop and laptop PCs, all the same issue.
For its $200 price, I really can't stand for this problem.
Can anyone give me some advice?
      1. Is that easy to ask Binglee to change a new one due to this reason? Do I need to go to the local Samsung service center to have it inspected first?
      2. I am in MEL, If I ask for return or replace, will they pay the cost of shipping from MEL to SYD?
      Many Thanks!

      • Binglee don't refund because of change of mind , but for your case , try to argue it is faulty item .

How about other buyers ? Is it good ?

      • Get in touch with BingLee ASAP, possibly a faulty one…
Also, could you kindly post a picture ?, I'd like to see the opposite of what I saw at HN… :S

      • Thank you guys.
I've already contacted Binglee, they ask me to send it back, and then they will have samsung assess the issue, if it was faulty unit, they will send me a new one and pay the cost of the returning delivery.
The process could be a long term due to Samsung's assessment, wish me good luck.
Sorry I dont know how to post picture here.

        • I got my monitor today. Turned it on and there was a grainy haze on it. I called Bing Lee the first guy was very nice. I told him some other guy on this forum also had the same problem he said I should call Samsung get a reference number and call them back to arrange a pick up.

I called Samsung and they wanted me to bring it to Vermont (Melbourne)and I said that I just want to lodge and have to give the reference number to Bing Lee. He then Gave me the reference number.

I called Bing Lee and this other guy picked up who sounded Asian. He said I will have to send it to Bing Lee and will have to pay for it. If it is indeed faulty then they will refund it.

I decided to call Samsung again as I thought that the issue might get lost in translation. A tomato looks like a tomato on the screen but a grainy one. I can read fine but it is distracting. There is this haze like on those cheap 3D cards that I used to have when I was a kid.

I asked the guy to make an appointment. He called the centre and they said I don't have to bring it in they pick up from my house. So I will now get a call from them on a day tomorrow or day after and they will pick it up access it and give me a new one if they think it is not normal.

I think if others have this issue they should call Samsung direct. Its not worth the hassle with Bing Lee.

        • I will bring it to Bing lee store to get refund .

The new AD-PLS (ADS) panel seems not so good or stable .

        • They wont refund a used product. They will sort out a DOA thought.

The thing is if Samsung agrees that Bing Lee should change it then they will give me one from their stock whereas if there service centre in Melbourne confirms the fault then I will get one from Samsung. Most likely the batch Bing Lee got is full of lemons. Someone said the unit on display at Harvey Norman looked very good. I went to check at Harvey Norman but it was not connected to anything.

I think the customer service of Samsung is far better than Bing Lee. I will rather deal with them. I trust Bing Lee, no more. lol

        • If I return it I will get 199 - there shipping cost - cost of me shipping it back to them. Since I got it for work it is tax deductible so it costs like $130(tax saving & GST saving). If I return it I make a loss of $60ish. I would rather get a good unit for the price I got which I think is fair.

          I hope Samsung pulls through.

If I set the brightness at 40 (comes with 100)
          Colour at 25 (60 Default)
Sharpness around 30 ( 60 Default)the haze is barely noticeable. This makes the screen dull though.

        • When I connect the monitor with USB 3 I get no sound from both my audio jacks on my desktop as well as the monitors audio jack. Does anyone know how to fix this?

        • “they will pick it up access it and give me a new one if they think it is not normal.”

Are you sure about it? I called SAMSUNG as well, they said they only do repair not replace. That's why I sent it back to binglee.

But today binglee told me they tested my unit which was not a faulty one! I argued with them and they promised will send my unit to SAMSUNG and have them evaluate the unit officially.

I guess I gonna wait for a long term, really regret of buying this thing T-T

        • I have been told the same thing by Samsung just now. Monitor works to specification. No graininess found after 2 days testing. They are bringing it back tomorrow. They picked it up too which is nice but i think they have blind people testing out the units. Do you get sound from the computer speakers if you plug in the USB 3 from the monitor into the computer? It makes all my audio jacks dead.

        • There is an audio jack at the base of the screen. It is next to the USB2 port. My audio worked once I plugged the cable there.

    • got mine today and it installed worked perfectly. was actually kinda shocked. hdmi straight into a google tv logitech revue box which had a $40 dick smith settop box on it. straight away great quality picture in picture tv and google tv chrome and youtube plus apps. then put the MHL in to my galaxy nexus and that worked sweet too. has the normal MHL problems of needing to reboot etc. also via nexus using a kingston wi-drive im playing MKV 720p files via the nexus into the samsung's MHL and breaking bad looked great. so mega surprised. took lots of photos. none of issues mentioned here. ill upload photos after work.. as i was worried based on reviews from this week but this did end up a great bargain.

      • I know this is a very good price, there are people on OZB that just like to bag deals, due to jealously maybe idk ??? lol

  • +4

    $388 at Harvey Norman
looks like a damn good price…

    • $348 @ Harvey Norman QV can get it for $300 easy

  • +23

    Stop making me spend money!

  • +4

Good price, is it a good idea to have another monitor, same brand, but different model for dual screen? Or should it be the same model to minimize problems?

    • +2

I run different resolution and brand, no biggie. just means there is a step in size at the join. Colour is slightly different. Identical is nice but not necessary.

      • +1

I see, does it make much of a difference if one monitor is 2ms and the other 5ms?

        • +2

Apparently, (did some research) you will be hard-pressed to notice the difference at all. Some people stating human eye can't even notice it.

        • You will be hard pressed to find a pc monitor under 8ms. Can you notice the difference between 2 milliseconds and 8? Cos i cant. Using TV's as pc monitors you will start to notice as they have higher refresh rates (denotes what the milliseconds is used for)

    • +3

I always found that different screens were slightly off, so when I dragged my mouse between the two, the mouse was slightly offset in its path. It rustled my jimmies up a notch.

Plus, It just looks sexier. :)

    • +1

I use two different brands. one is 21.6" and the other 24" works great, much more productive when I can have word on one screen and info on the other.

  • +8

Damn, looks legit. I am looking for a second screen. I'm going to need an amazing excuse to not pull the trigger.

  • +3

Only HDMI port available :/ strange for a Sammy monitor to not offer aany other connections

    • +2

Yup WEIRD indeed !, they normally have multiple HDMIs if DVI doesn't exist…

    • +4

      use an adapter?
i think the reason is because this supports MHL

    • +1

my current monitor has multiple ports and i only use the HDMI. but yeah… damn odd to ONLY have HDMI… granted all the USB goodness is super handy

      • +2

Does this mean for dual screen your computer will need to have 2 HDMI slots for 2 screens to run in HD?

Doesn't have DVI either, so, 2 HDMI slots it is.

        • this is not true. you can just get a HDMI -> DVI adapter. There might be some problems when watching proteced HDCP content on that monitor though.

        • That's right, I made mention of that somewhere below.

  • +2

Your photo very confusing .^.^ .. lol

  • Just saw one at HN and the colour is very good.

USB display means it can output through USB and no power cable is needed, right?

    • no

    • Have read the manual throughly, output through USB is supported but power cable is still needed.
However you can linked this display with ur PC through only one USB cable then get the output and 3 usb hub(two of them are usb 3.0), HDMI cable is even not needed.
Those ppl who complained about only one HDMI might didn't count in this usb display functionality which is really awsome.

  • +1

Great deal! Sure wish i had $200 to spend on myself. : (

  • +1

Looks like a great monitor, am just wondering if anyone here knows if I can connect this to my computer using a USB cable instead of HDMI (I'm out of HDMI ports and i want a 3 monitor setup because i sometimes need a portrait display)? Thanks.

    • No, HDMI only.

  • +2

    IPS?

  • +11

I really didn't need this. But it has some interesting USB options and is shiny and new. So I bought it.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't know what WVA is?

Title is also misleading; LED is a back lighting tech, not a display tech!

    EDIT: cooni is also mystified?!?

    • +1
      • From your link, which I already checked prior to writing my comment states:
        WVA = WUXGA and that it's actually 1920 x 1200 in resolution.

Where as the tech specs for this monitor list it as 1920 x 1080.

WUXGA is a 16:10, where as 1080 is a 16:9 resolution, so it cannot be WUXGA.

WVA doesn't appear to be an indication to resolution as they have used it in the display type.

WVA seems to be a display tech that no one here seems to have heard before, otherwise we wouldn't have all the comments I see now asking what type of panel this uses.

  • +1

Stand doesn't seem to have pivot between landscape and portrait, and possibly no height adjustment, both of which I find very useful :-(

  • Is this a AUO AMVA panel ?

    • It looks like it is using ADS panel from Samsung .

  • +2

How useless. One input port for $199? What am I, retarded? Not even VGA? Pointless monitor.

    • +11

One input port for $199? What am I, retarded?

Yes, the second question is a possibility these days…

      • Badum-chi!

        • chi?

        • +3

          OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!!!

        • +7

Why the heck is this getting positive votes? :S

    • +4

If your still using VGA you don't deserve this monitor…

    • -3

For not much more, you could have an IPS.

      • +1

        Please do share the link…

  • +3

    Ok a few things:

    1) I don't like the white stand, they should've had it in black!!

    2) Is this IPS? How does this compared to the Dell $279 one they have on sale from time to time?

    3) No VGA is understandable, but no DVI?!?!

    4) I don't like the white stand lol

    • +1

Yeah, DVI would of sealed the deal and black stand.

      • Get yo'self a DVI-hdmi cable, they're like under 10 bucks on ebay. Problem solved :)

    • +2

      This one is 1920 x 1080, Dell's 2412M is 1920 x 1200.
This one is glossy, Dell's 2412M is matte.
This one has a USB3 port, Dell's one has USB2 only.
This one has HDMI only, Dell's one has DVI, VGA, DP (but no HDMI).

And Dell's stand is probably a little better.

  • +1

how good is this compared to the LG 23' 3D for $198? http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/computers-office/computer…

  • Why Free P/H ! I checked and it seems cost some money for delivery.

    • That is just a calculator, if you add it to cart and checkout it becomes free…

      • Thats correct Elijah. I just tested it and its working in the checkout

    • Hi idog. Ive been following the threat and just tested it. Free shipping is working.

      • +8

so now that the rep is here… hows about throwing us loyal ozbargainers a coupon code for a bit more off? would probably tip me over…

      • +3

Whoa guy, no need for threat

      • +9

        I second the coupon code!

      • +6

hey yeah… i only just noticed the rep is following threats… all the more reason for a coupon now ;)

  • Thanks for your test.

  • so what is the "USB display" feature?

    • I asked up there but nobody reply yet.

But my understanding USB display means display through USB cable and no need for power cable.

    • +2

care to elaborate…? got a better product at a better price to share?

    • +1

I see a ban coming, as I've had one for doing this, purposely negging the deal… lol

      • +1

Lol @Elijah, Live and learn :)

        • +1

In my OZB life, I've already been though 3 accounts dating back to the origin of OZB itself, I was a mischievous child…, maybe I still am… ? Live and learn indeed ! lolz :P

  • +2

One input = rubbish. For $199. How does that not compute to people? Its a RIP.

    • +3

I agree completely, but it really is tempting.

    • -1

As per our discussion at the top, we all agree 1 HDMI = sin, hell and damnation…

      • +1

But you can use a HDMI to DVI cable anyway.

  • +1

does this monitor good for gaming?

    • +6

Only if English isn't your second language

      • +1

        what do you mean

        • +6

It will be great for gaming don't worry! Just make sure you connect via HDMI.
