Bali Return Ex PER $231, DRW $300, ADL $356, MEL $416, BNE $421, SYD $446 & More on AirAsia/Batik/Jetstar/Other [Feb-Nov] @ BTF

I stumbled upon super cheap airfares from Perth to Bali, like pre-covid prices, so started looking at what else was on and there are actually a few airlines with sales on at present (see the Scoot sale as well).

So in the end I figured what I'd do is just search for the cheapest tickets across the months and see what shook out.

Most fares include carry-on only, unless you stumble upon a date that has Qantas, for example, as the cheapest.

For accommodation consider Top Rated Villas in Bali for Under AU $120.

Yet here you are commenting in a post about Bali.

    • +6

I was that way for ages too, went recently for a friends wedding and found it pretty good. Many sides to Bali. I’m not a party person. Stick to uluwatu and you can have a relaxed cheap holiday.

      • +1

        cheap holiday.

I thought Bali was getting expensive,
        starting with accommodation prices.

        • Not really, depends where you stay. In the popular spots like Kuta definitely, but go to the quieter spots and it’s still cheap. Food is even cheaper

        • +2

Accommodation is still cheap, but food prices is almost like eating in Australia.

          • +2

@Datsun09: Depends where and what you're eating. Eating can be dirt cheap, but it can also be expensive.

          • +2

@Datsun09: Eat western food and I agree. Eat local, forget about it, cheap and delicious

    • Not sure why not.

6.5hrs from Sydney and 6hrs to come back.

Choose a hotel for $50/day that includes breakfast. At that price point it will be quite decent. Something like Swiss Belinn Legian or ibis styles.

Spend all day reading, on your device, around the pool.

      Tasty meal for dinner.

Cheaper than any non camping holiday you will find in Oz.

EDIT: having said that I would prefer DaNang.

      • Much prefer Phuket, bit further flight but much more developed/safe/friendly/nice.

Bali just feels like an overpriced dump and all the locals just treat you like a walking bag of money.

        • Sure.

But, in the holiday I described engaging with locals (or other tourists) is not really part of the experience.

Any way to you can tell us which are the fares for direct flights without having to click all the links to check?

  • -5

    Never interested in Bali

  • +7

    Sometimes interested in Bali

    • On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being never interested, 10 being always interested and 5 being neither interested or not interested), please tell us how you are interested in Bali.

  • just booked flights with batik

now need to find an area where there aren't too many bogans. deciding between samur, seminyak or uluwatu. any suggestions would be helpful.
we aren't into the partying/clubbing so no to kuta

    • +3

      Stick to Uluwatu.

    • +1

Uluwatu for sure, barely any bogans there. It’s very rural.

    • +3

      Nusa Dua

    • +1

      Seminyak is bogan central.

    • Head over to Lembongan or Jimbaran,m

    • +1

Go to Gili T if you are staying there for a week or more, north of the island is the best spot to relax. Or Nusa Dua if you want resorts.

Sanur beach isn’t good compared to all the other options.

  • +2

Careful on Batik air. No consistency in their schedule.

  • +2

What is the cheapest way to get to Perth? A cruise? Time to move to Perth.

    • +4

      Walk

      • Brah

    • Hitchhiking across the Nullarbor

  • Booked a trip with the husband and 2 year old. Any tips on where to stay?

    • +2

Every area is different, Ubud for rice fields, Seminyak for restaurants and nightlife, Uluwatu for a bit of quiet, Nusa Dua for huge resorts. If you are taking a 2yo look into nannies, we started our daughter at 18months and over 10 years have been going back and using the same nanny. We always joke that we are not going to Bali, we are going to Rini, she was like Mary Poppins. Use a good service like balisbestbabysitting.com You will find that you spend most of the time in the villa, so pick a nice one with a pool fence (can hire them too if the villa doesn't have one)

  • +1

What time of year does all the plastic rubbish wash in to Jimbarin beach? Apparently travels down from Java.

  • Do any of these carriers have business class options to Bali? Ex Adelaide?

    • Jetstar does, but it's not a lie flat seat if that's what you want

  • Any feedback on Scoot Airline? Is it good?

  • Scoot is bad.

Last year I flew from Bali to Sydney with Scoot via Singapore.

I had to endure a 12 hour wait at night at the airport.

Perth to Singapore on Scoot would be fine as it is a direct flight, but not Sydney to Bali on Scoot is bad.

  • Is Jetstar still offering biz class to Bali.

    • Flew Jetstar business a couple of times and it is basically premium economy.

  • +1

Clicked on $409 and it becomes $444, very dodgy.

  • +1

Also don't forget Indonesia is now visa on arrival, 500,000 IDR (50 AUD). You can do this online beforehand to speed up the immigration process.

    • +1

When wasn't it? I remember paying $50 for VOA around 10 years ago.

  • +1

As from 14 February 2024, there will be also another tourist tax of Rp 150,000 collected before you reach the Imigrasi Counter.

There are plans to collect this tax online, similar to the e-VOA.

  • As from June this year, there will be direct Batik Air flights from Canberra to Bali.
