  • What are the health benefits from eating Vegemite?

    • +5

High in salt and b group vitamins so one pro and one con.

Otherwise, Vegemite also has a mental health benefit as a low calorie comfort food.

      • +1

Thanks. Is there any difference to Marmite?

        • iirc Marmite has iron not b group

        • +3

Yes, taste & consistency IMHO. Marmite to my tongue tastes sweeter & has a burnt afternote. It also has a syrupy, almost waxy, consistency while Vegemite is thicker and drier. To my taste buds Vegemite has more complex & intense flavour. But then I have been raised on Vegemite so I may be biased. It's certainly worth a shot if you like Marmite and vice versa.

OZ v's pommies. Similar like Coke / Pepsi Dr Pepper, different flavor, but similar.

          • +5

@AndyC1: Dr Pepper is nothing like Coke or Pepsi

            • @darkmoss: Dr Pepper is more like Ozemite, a stranger that keeps lurking about

Also useful for warding off drop bear attacks

Tom Hanks & wife survived OG COVID thanks to Vegemite, all I need to know.

If you are old enough to comment here and havent tasted it yet, chances are you may not like it. I think its like an acquired taste. I personally cant eat it. too much salt, even if a very thin layer is applied on bread.

They'll have to pay me more than that to eat it!
    Oh…

    vegemite has no use-by date.

    • +1

That was what I came to post. What on earth bug could grow on that? The salt should kill just about anything for a start.

      • I have seen it go mouldy but I think it could be due to double dipping with a dirty knife. I have used the same jar for years at a time with no issues.

Can confirm. I found a jar in the back of the pantry with a best before date of almost a decade ago. Definitely doesn’t taste as smooth as fresh stuff, but it’s still edible.

No Afterpay on $3 Vegemite, no deal.

    • Afterpay was toasted

  • But does Myer still do personalised names or just whatever left over?

    • +1

They no longer do the personalisation

      • +3

These deals might help if anyone is looking to persoonalliset a jar in time for Valentine's Day.
        Woolies

      • +2

Is it just a normal jar of Vegemite then?

  • Thanks OP, will see if I can grab a couple tomorrow.

  • +1

    I’m concerned for OP.
The receipt suggests the team member who served them had a rash.

  • More than 200 left @ Parra @ closing time 2day, near main entrance lvl 3
