Pre-ordered so I can watch Nemesis on ABC.

  • +2

    No thanks Apple and Kogan

  • +4

Won't work with Australian App store.

  • +4

Can I line up at the Apple store for this like mindless sheep?

    • +2

You can post a comment relating to Apple about mindless sheep like a mindless sheep - oh look

      • nice one

      • king comment

  • -2

    Thanks OP, bought 8.

  • +4

My Gosh….. Six grand and they said its a bargain

  • +5

Seems like a great device, but I can’t imagine a scenario where the price of this makes sense compared to a quest 3.

    • Price of any apple device does not makes sense unless you want a powerful laptop with a crappy OS with some decent power on a battery.

      • +2

are you calling Mac OS crappy? 🤣🤣

        • +1

Windoooows fanboys wouldn't know a good OS if it hit them in the face.

          • @pharcyde: Gaming , WGA, and WSL… No wait, not that.

          • +1

@pharcyde: I have both Windows desktop and MBP! Only reason to appreciate MacOS is its terminal. Rest is crap.

      • What makes a good OS?

        • +1

As a general consumer - Ease of use, good amount of software available, gaming support etc. The only reason I would pick a MBP is for its terminal and the efficient ARM design (only if running on battery frequently).

        • You need a requirement to spend at least one or two hours a week figuring out why the OS is a piece of shit, with driver issues and extra-long shutdown/boot up times. That makes a good OS. None of this "works out of the box" stuff like MacOS

    • +1

The price reflects the money apple has put into the development. Time to earn back lol

$200 made iPhone $2k retail. Likewise, guess this $600 made $6k retail dam

      • -2

The price reflects the money apple has put into the development

        Yeh,.. nah.

They hired ex engineers from Occulus. No R&D required

      • Component cost for the iPhone 15 is $641.13 AUD, according to an article I found.

    • like saying i can just do grocery with my corolla, why would i need a 720s for that.

  • +14

Kinda surprised they’re reselling them here given the constraints Apple are imposing outside the US:

    • Apple Vision Pro only supports English (U.S.) for language and typing and English for Siri and Dictation.
    • App Store requires an Apple ID with region set to the U.S.
    • Purchases on Apple Music and TV app require an Apple ID with region set to the U.S.
    • For customers with vision correction needs, ZEISS will only accept vision prescriptions written by U.S. eye care professionals, and will only ship to U.S. locations.
    • Customers may not be able to access certain apps, features, or content due to licensing or other restrictions in those countries or regions.
    • Apple Support is only available in the U.S.

    • +4

This is the comment that I was looking to see mentioned.

It's not just the fitting of the light seal and head band accessories. It's also that you'd need to have your entire Apple ID registered to a US account.

      • I knew it! Thanks for conclusively digging this out. By far the biggest problem to buying these Kogan units.

    • +1

How hard it is if you have a VPN?

      • +1

It's the Apple account itself. Not where you log in. An AVP with a USA account in Australia would work without a VPN.

      • Need a US credit card, maybe?

      • Here's a better way to think about this:

If you had your phone set up with an American account, American store, American purchases and you ongoing live in Australia… do you see this as problematic if you were to use this device in this setup for the next 3-5 years?

The answer will likely be, yes that's going to be a problem.

    • Apple Vision Pro only supports English (U.S.) for language and typing and English for Siri and Dictation.

      Why is this a problem?

  • Plenty of stocks as per my friend is the US

  • Can't wait for a new generation to find out what it's like to be a Glasshole

    • First will see a hole in the bank lol

  • -1

My friend, the Scalper, asked me how many units to buy.

He's expecting them to flip for $8k at Ebay, Gumtree and FB.

    • +11

      Your friend is a d**khead

      • How? What's wrong with scalpers if Apple literally doesn't sell here at the moment?

    • +2

      Tell him to buy 10

    • +4

Yeah, tell him, good luck with that ;)

    • Yeah, you should tell him to buy all the stock Apple has to sell, he'll be a billionaire in about a billion years.

  • +6

    Rip off

  • +5

    kogan CS is trash

they dont reply at all on your warranty claims etc.

So is this too expensive and overseas stock

  • Where can you even demo this thing

  • +1

High resolution Oculus Go mady by Apple in California.

    • +11

No, designed by Apple in California, made in China.

  • I can see these being popular in long haul first class flights

    • Bonus points if they use passthrough mode for a completely natural interaction.

Behind the glass front of the Vision Pro is another display that faces outward. The reverse-passthrough display shows the user's eyes in pass-through mode. This is intended to make interaction with other physically present people more natural.

    • +1

It'll take most of the weight limit. Apple being Apple chose to make the body out of metals instead of lighter plastics.

      • +3

Yeah honestly there are times when plastic should be used instead - especially on things you have to wear on your head for so long. But i guess since the battery life is so shit you need to take it off after 2ish hours anyway to charge them and rest your neck at the same time

      • +3

I was thinking premium airlines on first class would have these ready on-board to be used

        • That'd be pretty cool actually but I hope they'd be clean. I took an a380 recently and the infotainment system would have been 10 years old so getting outdated tech is a risk.

      • +1

Yeah and all they would have to do hire Jony Ive for a second for the introduction video and have him say unapologetically plastic like he did with the iPhone 5C and it'll get embraced.

    • +1

I dunno, the furious edging might disturb other passengers

    • Yeah, they'll have high clout at the airport. You don't even have to wear it, people will notice the unique travel case bag.

  • +2

I just fell off my seat, not sure if it was laughter or shock, maybe both

  • -1

Guess I won't be watching LOTR on this.

  • Only Apple iDiots would ever trust Kogan with over $6k of their money.

  • Will it play fortnite?

    • Don't know but Honkai: Star Rail has been confirmed for it

  • +3

The price is for the right eye and you probably have to subscription for the left eye to fully utilise it! Lol

  • +3

Holicrap, i love the tech but the price !

  • +1

    Don't buy first Apple product.

wait why do I have only $20 in my bank account?

  • Not even close to 5 digits hehe

    • We don't know the Australian retail price yet. I expect it to be much higher than this.

  • +3

More than 10x what i paid for my quest 3.

    Gj crapple.

    • You got the quest 3 sub-630 bucks?

      • People were selling the quest 3 pretty cheap after Christmas. I saw some for around $500 but felt a bit risky.

        • Don’t understand selling them second hand. Could have returned them second hand to amazon during holiday returns for full refund

    • 10x conceptually better than your quest unless you primarily use for gaming

  • +4

What I want to know is the Apple stand and cleaning cloth included 😆

    • Yes a cleaning cloth is included. No stand though but there's a travel case for US$200.

  • +3

I want one!! I use my quest 3 mainly for movies and web browsing so this would be perfect! But alas I don’t have that much spare change. Hopefully in 5 years or so they are more affordable.

  • +1

Literally just get a quest 3 and even that's pricy compared to the quest 2

  • +2

I thought this was Oz "Bargain"

  • You may get some Kogan Gift Cards (10%-15% off) from classified.

  • 🤣

  • +1

    (profanity) kogan

    • -1

      How about apple

      • +3

        Apples alright

  • -1

Guess facebook will take the opportunity to increase the rrp of the quest.

  • I bought one… will report on how it goes

    • Pics or ot didnt happen

      • Ill use it for a day, be bored, then return it…
        When it comes ping me

        • +1

Kogan does not accept returns like apple

    • Good on you. Love to hear a fellow OzBargainer's review on this.

    • Really? What's your financial sitch like that you could buy one of these on a whim? GG, m8

  • Thanks OP bought 4!
