Think we’ve got this set + pole saw, pretty handy
Think we paid about $1100 a few years back
Can sell the charger for about $100 and the blower for about $100-$150 if you’ve already got those

Looks like to be a Makita price change since Total tools also offering it at $776

They always price match each other.

Thanks OP, I've been saving a bunch of in-store credit for exactly this.

These are quality units I also have the chainsaw attachment. They're on the heavy side though, when you're waving that thing around in the air :)

    • Yeh, hedge trimmer is long and heavy
Using with the extender is a battle 😂

        Good for working out.

They also have the three piece kit discounted (pole saw and hedge trimmer) for $1095

isn't add-on either pole saw or hedge trimmer manually = $1030 work out to be cheaper?

      • Damn nice spot… Have a plus and maybe I can convince the wife that I can get this now

      • Actually the above polesaw kit and the hedger separately you're saving even more, $1014.20

  • +1

It's $65 cheaper to buy the kit without the chainsaw and buy the chainsaw separately.

  • Anyone know when this deal ends?

    • No idea, but the bower redemption ends on March 31st.

Considering if I should get the EM409MP…because my current baby Makita line trimmer (DUR181)'s trimmer cord snaps on the slightest thing. Have the DUX60Z already.

Does anyone make a 1.6mm cord that doesn't suck (Bunnings reviews say they all do)? Otherwise, I might get the attachment

    • +2

I changed over the head on my em409mp to take a larger diamond edge or trail blazer line. Think trail blazer goes to 1.6mm.

The blue powerfit at bunnings was the best of the 1.6mm when I had the same baby Makita. Soak the string in water before use.

      • Thanks! I'll give that Powerfit a go (the 15m spool gets a worse rating than the 50m spool, though, lol).

And TIL about the soaking thing. Maybe I should try that on my current cord and see if it helps.

  • Whats makita mowers like?

    • Awesome. I recently moved from a Husqvarna 4-stroke, which was great, to a Makita DLM464. I love it. Strong, quiet, easy.

    • Love mine, was a solid investment

They can't struggle. If your lawn gets to the point where it chokes your petrol mower, the electric will just shut off.

That said. I have the 4 battery 21" self propelled and the only times its gotten to that point is mowing too wet, or mowing after its gotten away because it was too wet.

Mulching mode disappears an impressive amount of grass (and leaves from my large elm). It is quiet and best of all no fumes. I've had mine for 2 years and only had to sharpen the blades. Awesome bit of kit, just takes zero abuse.

I have about 850m2 of grass on a sloping block. Using mulch mode and self propel near full speed without silent mode I do often need a 3rd set of batteries to get through. Silent mode, side discharge mode and going faster than the self propel can do the whole lot easily with the 2 sets it came with, but the uphill side kills me going that hard.

I also have the kit above (with polesaw, also awesome) which gave me another set and a 36v chainsaw that gives me 4 sets (8 5ah batteries and a couple of smaller as well) and two dual fast chargers. As long as I swap them onto the charger, I can't run out of juice before the first sets are charged.
