Double dollars would mean $70 gets you $140 credit, so you're definitely losing out on this deal

I also got this email and figured paying $70 for $100 credit was kinda crap tbh. Not sure if the voters on this deal realise that's the net result

Timezone Load $70 Get $100 + CNY Hello Kitty Plush

    Should read:

Load $70 get $30 bonus credit and helly kitty plush @ Timezone

    • Yeah same line of thought here from myself also. Given Double Dollar rates, IF the plush is worth less than $40 to you, would give this deal a miss. To those that reckon the plush is worth more than $40 or would pay more than $40 for it, its a bargain

      • +1

I would also add those that blow $40 on skills testers could also just get the plush and save the shame of not getting anything from the skill testers.

        • it's $20, not $40.

          • +1

@highon2str: It depends on how you look at it, but yes it's $20 not $40 if you just look at it as an absolute value.

            • @MrMoo: exactly my sentiment

            • @MrMoo: It's a shame they only give you Hello Kitty. If this is Pikachu. This would be the best seller for Timezone. At least give an option

              People will jump on it.

Sadly someone doesn't know marketing and cater only for Hello Kitty fans

Immediately backtracked after checking what the Hello Kitty one looks like. It looks pretty poor quality.

              • +1

@neonlight: Yer man, hello kitty isn't even a cat. It's a girl. WTH lol

                • @MrMoo: lol pretty funny isn't it. Perhaps plush is a thing for girls hence the thought

              • @neonlight: Heard you talkin’ shit about my girl Hello Kitty ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
                Watch your back, Nya

But FR I think it was only a couple of years ago that Pokémon surpassed Hello Kitty as the world’s highest grossing franchise.

Surprising given that Pokémon seems a lot more widely accessible, where as HK tends to be more for the girlies.
But Kitty has been around since the 70s so I suppose there has been a lot more time to build up recognisability and brand loyalty so- maybe it’s not that weird?

      • +1

Plush looks average. Not really worth that $40

        • Yeah id rather use the bonus $40 i wouldve gotten to do other activities, others may just want the plush more than that lol

    • Not quite correct. I am saying that cos when the double dollar is on, I think it is only available in $60 or $100 and get double the credits, so effectively, it is $30 different being you only pay $60 rather than $70 = Saving $10 + the $20 bonus on the $10 extra outlay.

  • That dragon is pretty cool

  • So I guess 1 per person only?

  • +6

$20 for the plush, as per the post, not $40.

If you break it down using double-dollar logic - You pay $50 and get 100 credit, then pay another $20 for the plush.

    • +2

The logic is with double dollar $70 suppose to give you $140 credit under ratio of 1:2 under normal double dollar

Therefore it is indeed $40 credit for the plush and $20 real dollar but double of that to get the plush for free

Under normal circumstances $20 is used, but we are talking double dollar here therefore we can't compare non double dollar value vs double dollar value.

      • -2

It's $20. Take your girlmath elsewhere

    • If you pay another $20 for double dollar logic it will be $40. $20 for the plush + $20 lost bonus

      • -1

If I bought a drink for $4 at Timezone would it be worth $8 because of the double dollar logic?

Of course not, the drink is $4 because you’re buying the item for $4.

        $20 is the logical calculation.

        $50 for $100 credits
        $20 for plush

        • +1

Right? Or put the $20 into BTC - is the $20 now worth $1,000,000+ to the moon because of double dollar logic? Dealing with a bunch of primary school kids here

          • @patso: I don’t even know why I got downvoted hahahaha

    • +2

I really feel like you're just trying to justify to yourself that the plush is worth $20

  • +2

My mind was kinda hoping I was reading it as $170 credit plus the plush >.>

    • That would be a no brainer to some xx

  • +1

Went to Time Zone in Newcastle Kotara the other day. So underwhelmed.
It's all ticket machines now. Very few games that lasted more than a minute.

Quite a few machines were broken in some way

    • Baseball machine was detecting it was hit even though we didn't
    • Strong man mallet game just didn't react after putting in credit
    • Piano game, 2 of 4 keys needed to be smashed to recognise so my son couldn't actually play it
    • Throwing bean bags only had one bag (I've seen it elsewhere with plenty)

Paid for the $35 for unlimited and still feel kind of ripped off.

    • Usually the TZ folks are happy to compensate you if you pay for a game that isn’t working but that doesn’t really help for the unlimited…

Best use of unlimited is when you want to beat the entirety of one of those booth shooters like Time Crisis or Halo. Or at least it is if you aren’t very good at the games (≧∀≦)

The website might have some info on what games/cabinets are at each venue so maybe you can find a local one with more variety?

      • Most Timezones are just ticket games now. No real arcade games.

        • Yep, I suspect that ticketed games are far more profitable than most other games so they mostly have those.

Timezone isn’t the only place for games though! There’s an arcade bar here in Perth with lots of proper arcade games and big pizza, I’m sure most cities have similar places so keep an eye out (^o^)/

          • @Jennerino: Yeah Sydney had a few good bars with games.

My son's 4, so not quite practical

I'll just have to buy some arcade controllers for home…

  • Given past deals I thought the title meant pay $70, get $100 in bonus credit + a plush

    • +1

Only $30 bonus credit not $70 that's why some of us saying that $40 bonus credit is to buy the plush

You pay $70 get $100 total in game credit ($30 bonus game credit) with plush ($140-$100 = $40 when comparing to previous TZ double dollar)

  • +2

The plush looks ok but doesn't worth $20 or $40 credit imo
but it might value differently for Hello Kitty fans
especially its a limited edition to celebrate year of dragon

    • Exactly. They should have options to choose between at least two while stock last. Something else rather than Hello Kitty. Not sure if they get their target audience right.

  • +1

Not sure if the flush is worth $20. Doesn't look big from the picture. Might it be better to enjoy $40 credit on the claw machines?

    • I was at one point spent over $100 credit on a claw machine and still wasnt able to get the plush

It is sometimes as hard as getting inside the claw machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmLduBvn2Lc LOL

    • If you eat the plush then I guess the flush will be worth $20

  • Is Timezone still around? I haven’t stepped into a Timezone since I was a kid…😅

    • +1

Bought out by PE in 2017. Yes still operating.

    • +1

Has that a 10 or 20 years? Sounds like a very long time. Have me a thought of when Timezone came to Australia

    • +1

Heh did you not miss your time crisis or initial d machines?

  • -1

It's a genuine offer if: Load $70 and receive $140 plus a plush toy.

  • +1

Anyone know how to just get both plushies without buying this stuff?

    • +1

i too would like to know

    • Me too :-)

    • Offer someone who is reloading but is not interested in the plushies, $20 per plush? That way they are out of pocket $50 for 100 credit, and you pay $20 for a plush.

      • Sounds like a plan but where you find such opportunities

  • +1

Got my plushie today! You can pick from pink, red, blue and green.

    • Nice! Didn't realise there were 4 colours. Hmm… decisions… What size are they? Roughly tissue box sized?

      • +2

        About 22cm by 15cm.

  • On another note this Plush is on eBay is like $70 each delivered. Going by that logic maybe this might be a good deal? However personally the price is too high. It's a rip-off at $70

    • +1

That's probably some scalper who doesn't even have the item; their photo is from Timezone. See how there's no pink one for sale because the pink one isn't in the promotional photo but all the other colours are?

  • My view: I spent 70bux, with double credit that takes my account to 140. Then I wasted 40 of that to #cough acquire the plushie, without playing the grabber

It feels less worthwhile than if you told me "spend 50, get 100 credit and half price plushie"..

  • Went and got one today. Guy at counter complained pink red is running out. Of course it's CNY red is the one doh

They should have stocked of that and no need to complain

Average quality. Only bought it cause I'm very close to gold card

  • +1

We went to TZ and found like @kerfuffle said, that the free plushie was actually quite small. There were much larger ones in the claw machine. 19 goes later we got one! 😅 Photo shows prize vs give away.
