Do you have any wifi enabled smart downlights on sale as well?

    • hello newsanzang, sorry at the moment we do not have.

If you don't need colour control then smart switches/dimmers with standard 'dumb' lights could potentially be a better solution for you.

That's what we did for our place and we're quite happy with it.

      • Could you please share a link to the smart switches you used?

      • This option is better as there will be less equipment to potentially become faulty.

  • Hey OP, what does type a/type b mean? Do these have zero space clearance requirement for insulation on top of them? Thanks.

    • From the top down picture of the 5W one it shows the logo saying they cannot be covered with insulation.

      • Thanks for your reply. Please tell me the difference between type an and type b? Also, please send a link to the picture you reference saying not to be covered, try as I might I cannot see it! Thanks

Hello Sir, Type A is a model where the LED driver is distinct and separate from the body. In Type B, the LED driver and body are integrated into a single unit.

For a few dollars more each I'd rather buy CCT, dimmable LED downlights from Bunnings that actually have clear and important information, from reputable brands you've heard of.

These ones come with the "413" style plug bases your sparky will need if they're replacing hardwired downlights

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-9w-tri-colour-dimmable-led…

Also I wonder how many other people misread the title and thought it was "Sparky Direct" and not "Star Sparky Direct"…

        Me, for one.

I thought it was sparky direct too

plug-in ones are the way to go these days. you dont need a sparky to change the lights if it's a plug-in type. In the future, you can upgrate to smart light (those can be linked to Google / Amazon echo / Apple Homekit) yourself by unplugging old ones.

Even better, skip Bunnings, go to the wholesaler and get your SAL Ecogems in bulk.

Fully realising there's a price differential between $5/unit downlights and $16/unit downlights, but hey it's up to the individual if they really want to skimp on their electrical with nameless budget units or get the industry standard

        • Can you please link some?

    Will this light the way?

TOO CLOSE TO sparky direct. yet so far…..

  • Which if any of these are dimmable?

  • Long lifetime to 50,000 hours = about 6 years if on 24/7.

    Warranty: 3 Years LOL.
