Amazon Kindle $48 at Woolworths Spearwood WA

1440

I bought a Amazon Kindle 4 yesterday from Woolworths in Spearwood WA. The kindle scanned up as $48, the leather case as $13.99, then after scanning my EDR (everyday rewards card) I got a further 10% the whole transaction.

I am not sure if this is elsewhere, how long it is for etc. I just by chance inquired with the kiosk of the price as they are not advertised or displayed.

Big W currently have the same model out on 'Special' for $119.

apologies if I have done this incorrectly - first time poster

Just bought one at the OP Woolworth! Thanks a lot. It's NOT on display so you have to ask the counter. Plenty left.

Hahaha! Caught me on a good day :P

I was considering hiding that, but because of the percentage off the whole transaction it was best to keep it.

Should've bought the WW chicken/rice at Coles where it was on special…

I'd like to hear Dr cheapsk8's groundbreaking scientific rationale as to why limiting one's caloric intake would have negligible impact on weight gain/loss! I'm also calling for research assistants…I believe that anyone who's seen the movie 'Weird Science' is uniquely qualified to help conduct the peer review of Dr cheapsk8's stunning doctoral thesis.

I've seen Weird Science twice. I consider this as both an undergraduate and subsequent masters in "Girl Making and All Things Scientific".

      • Good Work , Thanks for posting the deal!

    • +4

No and that's probably why its on special.

Still, it is a good deal for those who just want a good solid ebook reader.

My lovely GF gave me this Kindle for Christmas and I absolutely love it. One of the things I like about it the most is that it's so basic. In this time when everything does everything (and don't get me wrong, I'm all for that) but it's nice to have a device that just does one thing. And one thing really well. And this Kindle does eBooks - really well. Honestly, I have bought eBook versions of books I already own because I prefer it in most cases. The only time I prefer a physical book is in the case of graphic novels (Walking Dead etc). At $48 you would bonkers to pass it up. In my opinion, of course :)

  • Good price. I would assume all stock in other states has been cleared out by now. Will be interested to get one for my wife..

    • +36

I think they only accept cash, and whilst Kindles are a great item, your wife can do other things for you that the Kindle can't do.

I'd say forget the trade, keep your wife, and just buy the Kindle with cash.

      • Haha this is a good one~~

I got 2 kindle for $48 at the Woolworth Palmyra (WA 6157), but 10% with EDR was not possible. Don't know why. But there should be some more kindles in stock :-)
    Good luck!

I was in 6 other Woolworths yesterday, here are the results:
    Spearwood: no kindle
South Fremantle: kindle wifi for $69
    Fremantle CBD: no kindle
    Melville: no kindle
    Booragoon: no kindle
    Cottesloe: no kindle

If you have some time, go to your local woolworth and ask for a kindle, if they don't have it anymore, ask them to call the other woolworth stores. They will do it!

And the Kindle 3g should be at $39.60!!
If someone need the receipt, I will load it up.
    Good hunting :-)

    • How can the 3G version be cheaper than the wifi one?

      • I don't know, but this is the price in the woolworth-system.

  • i've tried looking for a kindle, but no luck. was wondering if anyone is selling any extra kindle? i'm willing to pay for shipping and pay a bit higher than the current price of it. gladly msg me thanks ^^

    Perth : Karrinyup Woolworths - 30 in stock , minus the one that I bought for $48 ( Kindle 4 wifi ) .

I’ll see if I can root it ( American Computer Speak ) , to allow epubs to be read without conversion , and other software to run on it.

    • Confirmed karrinyup still has stock.. Did not get 10% on EDR

    • Also confirmed karrinyup has stock, my friend and I bought from them yesterday - they still had some stock left but a lot were reserved apparently.

      Lovin' my kindle.

  • Tried my local woolies in Vic, none in stock they say. If anyone does come across some stock and willing to help me out, would love to do a deal with you. After one for the wife for xmas, cannot justify $130 though :(

  • One keyboard kindle left in Glenhuntly, Melbourne

    • Yes the keyboard Kindle at Glenhuntly is $55 and is avaialable… unless the staff have since bought it.

Also the Carnegie store has about a dozen black leather cases at $13.99 for the Kindle 4… but no Kindles in stock.

  • Tried Rowville no stock, called Glenhuntly before closing said no stock? hmm. probably snapped up my staff..

    • Hmmm sounds about right. Friend picked up 2 tonight around 11:30pm and there was 1 left. He left 1 so someone else would have a chance to get one.

  • Anyone gotten Big W to price match this perhaps?
