  • Can you confirm the EU+UK 30GB 30 days unlimited EU/UK calls and text e-sim does not have an expiry? We are travelling in July.
    Thanks!

    • Hey @kwchaz

Confirmed! You can buy it now and use it in July no worries at all!

      -Aidan

  • OP, can you confirm that these Sims will work with the Samsung data backup feature, to use Aussie Sim overseas for wifi calling/texting? I recently went to Singapore and was given grief from using one of those "Global esim" services, and I could get it working. I think the requirement for it to work is that roaming needs to be off.

    • Hey @scaryspace

If you have dual SIM (can use physical AND eSIMs in the same device), you can use your home SIM for calls/texts and our eSIM for data.

This is a great way to avoid unnecessary fees for data usage while keeping calls/texts active.

You must have data roaming 'ON' to use our data.

An alternative would be to use fee wifi for backups (you could turn data roaming off temporarily if you need to).

I hope this answers your question!

      -Aidan

  • What is current status of Android phones on AT&T for the US?

  • Hi Rep…

Already purchased an E-Sim for my trip to the USA in April… Any chance of cancelling & getting a 25% off E-Sim ???

    Cheers

    • +2

      Hey @ThePunchingBag

Just DM me your order number, and I'll refund the difference!

      -Aidan

      • Legend …Thank you

        Just sent Order Number

One more question… We've moved our trip forward by a few days… Can it be activated earlier ???

        • Hey @ThePunchingBag

Just message the CS team with your order number let them know. They can sort everything for you!

          -Aidan

  • Going to the US in July, can I purchase now? I cannot seem to find an expiry date

    • Hey @qiu1005

Unless it is clearly stated on the product page (it should be very obvious under 'Features') there is no expiry/activation requirement.

      -Aidan

  • +3

I've found Klook can be cheaper. I went to Thailand last year and got 30gb, unlimited calls and text for 16 days for $14, physical SIM

  • About the 2GB data cap for the unlimited Europe plan, 0.5 Mbps is slower than even 4G right? That seems very limiting. Wouldn't you rather wanna get the Europe & UK eSIM (50 Countries) 30 GB plan and consume data at a reasonable speed when you need to, for even cheaper? $99 vs $79

    • Hey @SteveJobs

      It's entirely up to you!

Whatever suits your preferences/usage style the best.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

      -Aidan

  • Is everyone heading to Japan in mid May? hahaha
Will be grabbing my eSim soon and I guess see all you OzB crew in the land of the rising sun!
    Cheers Aidan, safe travels all!

    • Hey @matt0

I'll be heading at the end of the year for Chrissy!

Japan is going to be pumping this year, I can feel it.

      Safe travels!

      -Aidan

  • Hey OP - hope you’re well. I’m heading to US/Canada in early July and looking at the unlimited esim option that needs to be activated within 90 days. Wondering if you’re planning have the same promotion in mid/late June for EOFY? If so, will wait and pull the trigger then :) Cheers

    • +1

      Hey @Crowing

      I am thankyou! 🤙

Just DM'd you a code to use closer to your travel date!

      -Aidan

      • Hey Aidan,

Can I get the code too as I am going mid July to USA and Canada please.

        Thanks in advance.

        • DM'd you! ❤️

  • -1

It all looked good until I discovered that none of the ones that include South Korea can receive calls or texts :(

    • Hey @Geek Girl

Have you got a dual SIM device? You can keep your home number in your device and receive calls on your home SIM and use data on ours.

You will need to check to make sure your carrier doesn't have extra fees for this, however, most do not.

      -Aidan

    • If you need receing call and text, you need to buy eSim or physical sim from Klook or airport and need to buy extra top-up. S.Korea simcards usually don't include call and text. If you buy data only, you can't have 010 number. To get 010 number, you must buy top up for call and text.

Just found out that mobal.com offer cheaper esim for Japan, even after the 25% off, if anyone interested. They use singtel, the main network in Japan.

    • Hey @JamiePW

      Go you deal hunter!

(Just FYI - Singtel is a carrier from Singapore.)

      -Aidan

      • Ayaa, you got me. I meant, they use Softbank, obviously, not singtel….

        • 👍

  • Goodnight everyone!

I'll be back tomorrow so leave any questions you have here and I'll get back to them ASAP.

    😴

    -Aidan

  • Hi Aidan

Also travelling to Japan at the end of May. Can I get the discount also please

    • Hey @dimple

      DM'd you :)

  • Planning to go to Europe in January 2024. Any codes that'll be active then?

    • +1

      Same. But Jan 2025.

      • Ah I meant 2025

    • Hey @visco

That's a bit far out, we will have plenty of deals between now and then.

Most likely new products and different offerings too!

I'd come back later, and if you miss a deal just reach out and ask for Aidan.

      -Aidan

  • I had issues with the China, Hong Kong and Macau sims late last year, where none of them worked in China on various devices. Had to resort to alternative arrangements. Simsdirect were prompt to provide a refund though.

    • Hey @YellowWiggle

Thanks for the feedback! I am sorry that the eSIMs did not work for you. We are aware of them having issues on specific devices, and we are working on fixing them. These are technical products that are used in technical devices so they aren't flawless. Hence why, we have a money-back guarantee.

      Thankyou for understanding!

Please reach out if you need anything from me.

      -Aidan

  • I have used these guys probably about 4 or 5 times over the years on European trips. Only had an issue one single time where a sim card stopped working, contacted them and they had it sorted within an hour or so despite the odd time zone. I recommend.

    • Hey @Miscreant

Thankyou for the continued support and repeat purchases! ❤️

      -Aidan

  • Hi OP

Going to Japan in late May for two weeks so hoping to get a discounted e-sim to activate closer to then - any chance ?

    Thanks

    • Hey @acme1

DM me and I'll create a custom code for you!

      -Aidan

  • I'll try out the Japan ones and see how they go. Last trip with Travelkon's SIM cards (same network?) it killed itself half a dozen times requiring the provider to reset. Interestingly always after a Shinkansen trip.

    • Hey @Clear

Awesome! If you run into any trouble we'll be here for you ❤️

      -Aidan

  • Do we get 5G if it's locally available and we have a 5G phone?

    • Hey @rlf

Yes, correct. 5G will depend on if its locally available and your device supports it.

Sometimes you will switch between 4G/5G depending on location.

      -Aidan

  • +2

Just look up your destination on esimdb, these guys have been more expensive even at 25% off every time i've checked.

For example, their cheapest 20GB europe sim is $44.25, or $2.21 / gb (at 25% off, full price $2.95 / gb)

Mobimatter is much cheaper, $33.85 for 25gb, or 1.35 / gb. That's almost half the price

    https://mobimatter.com/travel-esim/sparks-europe-usa-20+5-gb…

    • +1

I'm surprised they still post here. About 5 years ago I was collating a list of users who had issues. Main issues back then were they were selling sims that they didn't even have, and arrived when people had already left Australia, as well as unprofessional conduct.

Fallout from that was Aiden sending me a message advising he wouldn't post on OzBargain until they sorted out their stock issues (and credit to him, he seems to have followed through) and So Easy Travel (no longer in business) where Aiden previously worked sending me a message offering to provide company records for me to verify that they had cut ties with Aiden and he was no longer employed by them, and to offer below cost price on buying sims from them.

A lot can change in over half a decade though, and publicly Aiden seems to be more professional on Ozbargain at least. I'm just providing this information for transparency for others (and OzBargain historians).

I'll go with a cheaper provider, don't care too much about whether a business for my overseas travel esim is based in the country I wouldn't even be in while travelling.

      • +1

        Hey @NobalaKoba

Wow! This is a throwback. Dave?

Looking back at it, what happened back then was a big learning lesson, and we took a lot away from it.

We improved our stock ordering, worked on building up our customer service and ultimately improved our business because of those mistakes.

We still post here because we started here. Ozbargain literally is how we started our business, and we feel, I guess, a sense of connection to this community.

Thank you for messaging in, and thankyou for your feedback. You have been integral in our journey.

        -Aidan

    • What you're paying for is Australian support. Some rather pay a bit extra than have connection issues that aren't fixed quickly when overseas

      • How is support speed affected by the country the SIM was purchased from when you're overseas?

  • +1

Japan 10gb sim is $36.75. Anyone know is there are better options out there? Seems a little pricey for only 10gb?

      $13.80 AUD for 10GB

      • That's an eSIM and the $36.75 one is a physical SIM.

      • +1

My phone doesn't accept esims 😕

        • +1

Check on ebay for physical sim.

  • Hi, im interested in your simless japan offer, but my mobile (Pixel 6a) seems to say it is accepted, but i've had troubles with simless ones in the past. Can I buy and refund if it doesnt work?

    • Hey @Oneiricer

The Pixel 6a is eSIM compatible, so it should work.

Give it a crack, if you run into trouble the team is here to support.

      -Aidan

  • Hi, I am going to Italy for a month at the end of May, with a side trip to Croatia and Montenegro (11 day cruise). I would like to have an esim for my S23 Ultra with good data and Local/International calls. Orange have one for Europe, what say you? TIA.

  • Any Bali eSims that use Telkomsel network? Looking for 20gb +, 10+ days Thanks

  • Thank you just purchased 2x china/HK/Macau eSIMs! Just confirming that western apps will work whilst in HK?

    • Yep, they will work!

      Thanks for the purchase !🙏

Just so you know, all roaming SIM cards VPN back to their home country so if you buy a SIM from any provider the internet connection will be whatever country provider they have resolved.

For example, if you took your Australian issued SIM card and used it for roaming in China all your traffic would be VPN/routed back to Australia

  • Hi @SimsDirect
I am travelling to Indonesia, Malaysia and Austria over a span of 30 days. Can you advise what is the best deal for data and data/calls? Preferably need 20gb+

  • Are you the same as Travelkon?

    • Hey @R3XNebular

      No we are not.

We launched before Covid in 2018 and TravelKon have popped up in the last few years.

I can see why you'd think that though!

      -Aidan

  • Hi OP, going to Europe in July, will you be so kind to honour the offer closer to date for the Unlimited Europe & UK eSIM (33 Countries) e-sim?

    • Hey @juduckiee

      I just DM'd you!

      -Aidan

  • I don’t need to activate it until June can I still buy the sim now?

    • Hey @knowskillz

Which product are you looking at?

If it doesn't say on the product page that it needs to be activated before X, or that it expires in X. Then you are good to go.

I’m currently in Japan using the Simsdirect 10GB 30 day eSIM from an iPhone. I initially couldn’t get it to work having arrived in Narita. I then re read instructions that stated I needed to activate data roaming and it sprung to life. Interestingly enough, many sites believe I’m connecting in from Taiwan. I’m currently at ski resort in Yizawa and connected to KDDI network with 5g. eSIM has worked fine after the initial hiccup.

I purchased an earlier eSIM from these guys for my kid to use in New Zealand back in winter last year and that worked fine too.

One tip, turn off mobile data for all but the most important apps on your phone that actually need to be used when overseas. All hotels I’ve stayed in Japan have free wifi too. I’ve used google maps and translate and chewed through just 1.5GB in a week. No social media though!

You can also add Suica card to iPhone wallet too and load some money on it, then pass straight through train stations gates by just swiping phone over reader without unlocking phone and use it for purchasing food etc.

  • You guys need to sort your hosting out its slow as sh?t, last time I gave up and went to your competitor because there site loaded.

6km from syd cbd so should load instantly.

Same story nowat 2:45 in the morning

    • Hey @RBZ10

      Hm interesting.

I will look into it! What browser are you searching from?

It should load pretty quick, but maybe there's something to look into.

      -Aidan

      • Google chrome on z fold 5

        • @RBZ10

          Thankyou!

          -Aidan

  • Hi Op.

Does only one of your eSims include coverage in the Philippines?

Pricing seems steep for just 10GB :(

    • Hey @ssjmark

The 10GB eSIM/ 6GB eSIM/SIM options are the only ones for the Philippines.

They are a more expensive product for us to purchase so it is hard for us to offer it really cheap.

      -Aidan

  • Note OzB - I purchased 2x E-SIM cards on the 3 Feb. I still have not received them..

Been in contact with OP and they're looking to sort it out this morning - great response/customer service on OzB.. however been disappointed they never responded to my emails. I fly out this weekend so if it's not resolved this will be an epic fail on their behalf. I'm also hopeful they'll apply the discounts on this thread to my deal considering I paid yet haven't received anything.

    • +1

      Hey @passwordistaco

I've forwarded everything to my head CS team member. She will be prioritising it first thing this morning and will get it through to you!

I am perfectly happy to honour the deal. We will refund the difference.

      -Aidan

      • UPDATE: what an epic company. Turned a crap situation 180 degrees with such great care and support. Outstanding customer service - will continue to purchase and recommend.

  • +1

Great customer service I received recently from this co. I bought 4 SIMs for US but only used 3. Was able to return it to receive a refund after the trip; even though Australia Post didn’t track my returned SIM properly. It shows the level of trust SimsDirect has for its customers. I highly recommend it.

    • Hey @min2

Thank you for your feedback! ❤️

We're honoured that we get to look after our customers (as best we can).

We will always strive to offer a high level of customer service, and it's comments like this that fuel that fire 🔥

      -Aidan

  • -1

If you can have access to Taobao or Feizhu, the products there are way cheaper.

  • Are sims for NA/CA always this expensive? wtf

If Im going Mexico for 2 weeks and America for 1, whats the best combination?

    • Hey @ColdSnap

      From our experience, yes.

USA, Canada and Mexico are pretty expensive when it comes to eSIMs/SIMs.

As soon as you add in Canada/Mexico it gets more expensive.

USA can be ok by itself.

For USA/Mexico you will need to go with either our SIM Card or eSIM options.

The SIM Cards are better value currently if you don't mind swapping over to another physical SIM.

      -Aidan

  • Hi, is there an expiry for thailand esim as going in july and can't see it on the simdirect webpage.

    • Hey @duketing

No expiry on that one! Go for it!

      -Aidan

  • Is there a SIM here that covers the Carribean, specifically Barbados? I can't seem to find one.

    • +1

      Hey @Devil Dog Eyes

No sorry, we do not cover the Carribean :(

      -Aidan

  • Perfect timing. Off to Indo and Singapore in the next month!

    • Epic 👍

  • are there any Japan physical SIMs with data AND local number for voice calls? They all seem to only have data.

    • This didn't work last time I was in Japan so I'm guessing it will never work.
I had to put my Aust SIM back in to do anything like that.
