  • This or https://www.amazon.com.au/Motorola-G14-128GB-Steel-Grey/dp/B…

They almost seem the same besides 4gig ram….

    • Is the G14 5G? I thought it was only 4G. People will need the 5G once 3G is switched off as their coverage will be a lot more limited if they are 4G only.

      • +1

Do you have a source to backup this claim?

      • +3

        https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g14-12447.php - 4G

I thought VoLTE is 4G and will be around for a long long time as its taken how many years to switch off 3G ? I would not be thinking 4G will be switched off inside 5 years which would be useful life of this phone.

      • Yes it is. I had one

      • +2

Not many networks do voice calls over 5G - aka VoNR. Telstra is currently testing, however it will be a while before it's rolled out across the network.

4G calling (VoLTE) is going to be around for a long time, and 5G will pretty well be a speed icing on the mobile coverage cake for the time being.

  • $212.89 price beat officeworks

    • Excuse the ignorance, what's the process to get a G54 from OW for this price?

      • +1

Tell them you want to price beat Amazon, that's it.

        • +5

Did it, went to local OW, 2 in stock, $212.90
          Thanks

            @ocular: Congrats :)

@[Deactivated]: Off to have a beer to celebrate - my first OW Price Beat - do I get an OZB badge? In true OZB fashion perhaps didnt really need the G54, had already got one and tried it but ended up giving it to my 84 yr old father in law whose android packed it in because of no 4G Volte. So another mobile to play around with. Like the dual sim with esim feature, not too many low end androids with this.

What happens after the one update? no more? and sec. updates? no more?

    • +4

What?… OPs description is pretty clear on what to expect updates wise 😒

    • +16

      The phone explodes

      • +2

It does the mission impossible thing and self destructs.

  • Processor is neck to neck with snapdragon 8 gen 1… I'm impressed

Edit: another comparison site says otherwise

I have been using G54 5g for a long time now, no lag no freezing at all. I had Motorola Edge 30 fusion with SD888 that damn thing would chew up battery in 6 hours! and This one lasts whole day and has 50% left by the end of the day. Only downside is camera is mediocre.

      • This or the G84????

    • +5

This process doesn't hold a candle to the SD8 G1. NanoReview is a much more credible source than that shonky Versus website.

  • Hi All,

Would this be a good phone for emulation? Interested in Mame, and early nintendo consoles.

  • Does it have wireless charging?

    • Nope

  • +1

I used this as a backup phone for 2 months and was actually surprised by the quality, features and camera results.
More of a stock standard android version of the OS. Has 5G, NFC, 8 gigs of Ram and overall a good phone. Great as a backup or first phone for teenagers.

    • +1

I got the previous version as a temporary backup and I'm still using it :) Nothing wrong with these, so figured I might as well run it into the ground before I go back to my repaired Pixel.

  • can use two nano sims?

    • No, this phone is only one nano sim plus one e-sim. The second sim card capability is taken up by the e-sim.

The sim card tray only has one nano sim plus one micro sd card slot.

  • +4

As a recent moto user who loved the features and drowned his phone. Just a reminder these are not at all waterproof and seemingly not even water resistant. Swapped to a worse phone that is :(

  • The link shows the price of $249. I don't see the price you have listed.

Edit: is the link supposed to be used in combo with cashback?

  • Tempted to get Dad one of these rather than an eSim adapter.

  • $249 now.
eSIM, microSD, NFC, tick all my must haves. If only there's a phone that all of those plus better cpu, waterproofing and wireless charging, even at double or triple the price..

    • +1

Looks like price has changed due to Amazon's dynamic price adjustment algorithm.

  • +3

Now Officeworks are selling for $247, so you cannot use price beat.

I took the deal and went to JB to match it - JB is selling for $249, but they still keep the label as $299, it almost cost them to give up their first child to take $2 off for $247 price match.

Overall, great phone, especially it is branded, 5G and 8GB of RAM !

    • +8

Today you save $2. You come tomorrow. I close down.

      • Haha. Why am i hearing an old Asian lady berating me in such fashion?

        • +1

Be a man! Do the right thing!

  • Been looking for a cheap work phone and might go for the G54. Does it have a good antenna? That seems to be the sticking point with the budget Mediatek stuff.

    • +1

I did a LTE band comparison, the version we get here in Australia lacks the essential LTE bands for USA.
So if I am going to USA I will bring my old Samsung…….

      OT, but relevant.

      • Hi fl360, this phone (and the G84) supports LTE band 41. Doesn't 41 also work in the USA?

  • Back to $249 yesterday - this deal should be marked as expired
