I successfully pricebeat iphone 15 pro at Officeworks Hobart. And using my ultimate gift card that I bought last 2 months make it down to $1555.

You can still buy ultimate gift card from coles, it has 10% discount equivalent. but it can only make it down to $1647 which is not bad.

0.95% surcharge on card, PayPal, WeChatPay, AliPay & UnionPay payments.

Mate price matched this last week, paid approx $1750

    • +2

That’s lucky. I’m surprised that OW would consider this establishment a competitor - the website is pretty dodgy-looking

      • Multiple operators at OW have price matched this without an issue

    • +1

Pricebeat got rejected by Officeworks because Skytree doesn't display the model number on their website :( . gotta try with different staff's

      • Interesting - def try again. I can confirm at least 3 price matches over the phone last week

        • Tried over phone but they are asking for model number which is not displayed on Skytree

    • Which OW did you go to?

      • +1

        1300 OFFICE

        • Interesting. Do you then buy online or go into a store with a price match reference code or something?

    • Unfortunately same here… tried on the OW 1300 number and was told the website needs to say Part Number :(

  • Is it actually titanium? Or is this titanium the colour, not titanium the metal?

    • +2

It is actually made from titanium

      • +5

        18 grams of it

        • The whole phone weighs 187 grams, how much of it do you want it be titanium?

          • @hobo123: Well if they are advertising it as made from titanium I'd expect the body to be made of titanium, not an 18 gram coating of titanium. It's like saying a gold plated necklace is made of gold.

            • @lookingforadeal7: Completely agree. Very misleading.

      • +1

It's apple, so expect the usual weasel words in the advertising.

        • I hate Apple but not always are they scummy. It's got a preemo grade of titanium, better than Samsung apparently.

    • I’ve got 14 pro and the 15 pro is def lighter.

      Forged In Titanium
iPhone 15 Pro has a strong and light aerospace-grade titanium design with a textured matt glass back. It also features a Ceramic Shield front that’s tougher than any smartphone glass. And it’s splash-, water- and dust-resistant.1

      • +1

        tougher than any smartphone glass.

Apple obfuscation. Comparable phones use “Gorilla Glass” (and some Victus 1/2) not “smartphone glass”. Both Ceramic Shield and Gorilla Glass are made by Corning.

    • The sides are covered in a real titanium layer

You can still buy ultimate gift card from coles, it has 10% discount equivalent.

Is it direct discount or in points?

    • I don't know what this Ultimate Gift Card discount at Coles is, does anyone know? I can only see this which is in 3 days time

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/831582

      • 'Next week's upcoming Coles gift card deal! Equivalent to 10%.''

$1,500 Ultimate Gift Cards is equivalent to 30,000 Flybuy points.

        2,000 Flybuy points = $10

        30,000 Flybuy points = $150 ~ hence 10%

    • Has this ultimate cards sale started yet?

  • That is tempting….

Is there a current gift card sale? I guess I can use Officeworks trade in as well?

I assume Officeworks tax invoice final taxable price will be after the trade in?

    • Do office works do the big trade in bonus stuff like JB?

      • JB bonus credit is Google and Samsung deals only.

So far as I am aware there has never been bonus credit deal that can be use on IPhone

        • Yeah actually I think you're right.
I might want an S24 Ultra for me (iPhone wife) and of course I have missed huge discounts not buying 3 weeks ago.

          • @hamwhisperer: You can do JB contract deals when a good one come up, those deal can be stack with JB trade in. Just make sure Telstra 5G works in areas you frequent.

    $2k for an iPhone…

Surely this site is taking the piss now.

    • +2

Mate the whole point of the site is to make the 2k iPhone, less than 2k ;)

      • +1

Even try to halve the 2k is the goal…

        • -1

Exactly. Why am I getting down voted?

        • +1

No it's not? Apple products have high resale value because they never have big discounts. On the other hand, Samsung has its phones going for half price and their resale value drops a lot as a result.

I'm trying to hold off on the iPhone 16.

Lots of hype about AI and other major improvements.

    Any expert thoughts here?

    • +5

wait for the iPhone 17 or …

      • Yeah, I get that, and I'm not one of those people who constantly says, "Wait for…."

My point is, like most people, I don't upgrade every year. There is more hype about the iPhone 16 than there has been for many years or models.

The 15 pro is nice n all but if Siri is upgraded to full AI and if all the hype is real then it may be worth the wait.

If you read my comment I would love to hear feedback from people, especially those in the industry who would know a lot more than me.

I expected sarcastic comments and neg votes because that's the trend here, but if people in the know said it isn't really gonna be as big as Ben Hur then I may go for this.

        Thanks anyway for the reply

        • +3

Probably a post in the forum and not for a comment within deal

    • +1

Cameras will be forever side by side (top and bottom) going forward, for the new VR unit.
They'd the only huge change imo.

If the vr takes off, the diagonal aligned cameras will look old and be worth slightly less on resale.

    • +2

AI improvements is a iOS software upgrade, not a physical hardware or design improvement. the 16 pro may have stronger hardware that improves AI performance, but I believe AI integration will also be available for older phones that can support them.

      • That's what I'm not so sure about. Apparently, there may be limited AI for older models, but all the new benefits will only be for the 16 models which will have an enhanced microphone specifically for this

I'm only going from what I have been reading, and I am not a techie, so there may be more or less relevance.

A lot of sites are saying that it'll be a gamechanger. ha ha, never heard that one before ;)

    • +3

      and buy Samsung instead

      please tell me more /s

    • +3

      lol stfu

    • I am both Apple and Samsung user and I can tell you you are full of 💩💩

  • Skytree price actually showing up as 1650 for me not 1850??? Can this be real / would OW pricebeat???

    • That's for the 128gb, it's 1850 for the 256

      • ah true thanks, and presumably can be price beat?

  • Now someone price beat the price beat against JB HI-FI for me please….

  • +2

Do you just walk into coles to buy ultimate gift card? Does it matter which one? And its on 10% off in store?

    • Wait what

Is the Coles deal back on again!?

Never mind I checked it is. Ok that's good to see but always challenging.

      • Hey,
What's the Coles deal? Discounted gift cards or Flybuys points? The one that starts in 3 days?
        Thanks

        • Yeah I'm trying to find out for certain. I'll gladly grab a few more grand if they're 10% off again.

  • Failed to price match at Glen Waverley office works… Something about a person and not being able to contact skytree

  • Failed to price match at Chadstone office works as they said it's from a store that sells refurbished phones…even though it's specifically noted as new

  • Another shop said no because there's no part number… Looks like this deal is a no go 😔 good luck everyone else

    • The deal is actually with digiDirect, you should be able to price beat that.

      • They should definitely be able to take digiDirect as they fit the requirement of that 5% price beat guarantee?

  • Also tried price beating SkyTree’s offer at Pitt St, Sydney and was unsuccessful. They require sighting the part number which is not available on SkyTree’s website. Ended up going with the digiDirect price which worked without issue.

    • digiDirect doesn't seem to mention the part number either - I wonder why that was OK?

      • +1

It’s in the product description near the bottom of the page. Click it to expand.

        • Got it! Thanks!

  • Thanks mate,
Price beat worked at Ballarat OW. 1830$.
