I have this and it is great. But I bought it for $500 from a bargain last year. needs to drop a bit in price.

    • +1

Have been holding out for the sub 600 price but it didn't happen in the last discount, or this time. Decided it was close enough.

      • Arrived the other day, insanely quick delivery from dell. Happy with it, extra screen space is hard to pass up.

    • +7

Most bizzare thing happened to me when buying this monitor during the $500 deal: I ignored the deal for part of the day then it was too late when I got home to buy it. Came back to work and realised that my work pc still had the dell page open with the item ready for checkout. Went to proceed checkout and pay thinking surely this won't work then a week later I got the monitor lmao

      • +1

I wonder if we can use flaw in their site to resurrect Muzeeb deal!

        • @Muzeeb learn from me

    • same boat. best monitor I ever had

  • +1

Any valid coupons I can use or game?

  • +1

How much is it with uni discount?

  • Using this and TBH I:m not entirely happy:
Somehow if you enable 144Hz on MacOs fonts became blurry. And it became fine if you switch to 60Hz.
Another thing (not related to the monitor though, but MacOs) - it became harder to configure MacOs elements not to be tiny with 4K, you need a 3rd party tool for that.
I don't believe it is how it is supposed to be. Maybe I'm missing something but experience is not great in my case.
Probably should have gone with 2K rather than 4K, but the price was too good last year :)

    • +3

sorry to hear about your experience, glad that you shared.

    • +7

I've had neither of those issues and I run it everyday for work on MacOS

    • +1

You could still sell it for what you got for it plus easy and get something suited more for macs. I got one and it excellent for gaming, but after seeing the newish asus rog oled monitors, there's no comparison, they look insane. But a lot more expensive.

    • +7

I've been using mine with both windows and mac OS and haven't been experiencing this issue :/
Are you sure the cable you're using supports high enough bandwidth for 4k 144hz?

    • +5

Are you running it on 4K natively or 4K HiDPI mode (4k resolution but UI looks like 1080P)?

      • I assume in 4k HiDPI mode, because in 4K natively everything is very-very small.

      • fwiw, I have a 4k Dell 27" and find it best at 2k. lot's of real estate, text readable and super sharp

    • I'm using it and I think for the price I paid (~$500) it's reasonable. It's not perfect, maybe some of the other options I was considering would be better (though I think they were ~$700-800) but no real complaints given the price. Windows though, no mac.

OLED would be nice - except I use it mostly for non-gaming/movie usage so I'm concerned about burn in.

    • +1

became harder to configure MacOs elements not to be tiny with 4K, you need a 3rd party tool for that

You must be doing something wrong, I've been using multiple 4K monitors with macOS and the UI scaling is completely configurable, have never had any issues getting the UI to the exact size that I want.

(For the benefit of anyone else who is reading this, because I always see lots of misinformation being spread about 4K monitors and "text being too tiny" when that is not the case, it's completely customisable in all modern operating systems including Windows and macOS, and has been so for many years)

      • Which settings do you configure for mac font sizes?

      • +1

heh, MacOs used to have this scaling setting https://i.stack.imgur.com/Y2xEV.png

Unfortunately, somehow it disappeared starting from Monterrey (or maybe previous one). At least i don't have it anymore on my M1 Pro.
Thus I had to use Better Display app to achieve the same (luckily free version is enough).
I googled a lot on this topic and opinions varied: some people say they still have this menu, but many report they can't have it like myself.

    • +1

Try another cable, or set to 120hz, might be not enough bandwidth.

      • nah, 120Hz has the same effect, only 60Hz "fixes" it, also using the original cable from Dell as well as some other cables

I'll buy it off you for $400

I have experienced this issue with my macbook too, turns out that HDMI 2.0 can't carry enough chroma subsampling for 4k@120/144hz 4:4:4, which the deafult HDMI port on a mac uses and most usb-c adapters.

Luckily there is a solution, I bought this adapter https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08MSWMXT4 and flashed it on a windows laptop with the instruction here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/dp-usb-c-thunderbolt-3-…

And now I have flawless 4k@120hz with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling (which is how you get non blurry fonts)

      • I use USB-C to DP cable that supports 144Hz

        • +1

Hmm, strange, I have this one https://www.amazon.com.au/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-USB-C-Su… and it's perfectly fine at all refresh rates. I swap between the two depending on what other computers I have plugged into other ports.

          • @furBug: Hi, a silly question but just wondering does the DP to USB c cable can charge the MacBook at the same time or a separate cable is required to provide power to MacBook?

Currently using S2722QC thinking whether it worth the upgrade but losing usb-c connection.

            • @SoloDanny: Nah, no power via this cable. Just video, you'd need a dock if you want to do it all via one cable.

Anyone upgraded from the Ozb fav dell 27inch 2721dgf to this?
    Worth it?
Been rocking the 27inch for a few years and love it, but as my wife keeps telling me, a few extra inches would make all the difference
Is it worth an upgrade to the 32??

    • I have and consider it worthwhile. I enjoy the extra real estate.

      • did it look much crisper? like how's the 4k after coming from the 1440?

        • Its noticeably clearer, friends with 1440p have commented about it being sharper

          • @itsfuze: okay thank you so much for replying to my questions, much appreciated!

    • Yeah I did. If you want something that's going to blow your dick off, have a look at the asus rog oled 42 or 43 inch, it doesn't compare to these monitors.

      • 27dgf to 32d it's probably only worth it if you want to game at 4k 144hz

        • +1

Actually I did it to get more real estate for non gaming stuff (like work), and it works well for that. Make sure you have the graphics card for it or you'll regret it though for gaming.

    • 32" is awesome especially if you play immersive games I'd say go for it

    • I have the 2721dgf, I think I'll upgrade to an OLED at the same time I upgrade my PC.. once they drop in price a bit. Seems to be the logical next upgrade for me.

      • +1

If you have the $ and patience, and you don't do a lot of static screen work on your monitor, yeah that's what I'd do (wait for 32" OLED in your price range). I've used this monitor, and a C2 42…. this is a lot better sized for gaming and working on a desk, but the C2 image is nicer.

        • Too bad LG don't do a 32" inch version, that would be amazing.

    • +1

This was my struggle, wait for oled or something else (cough 42" lg c3). Have the 2721dgf and a vertical 24". For desk space decided to upgrade to this.

      • +1

It will be interesting seeing everyone's setups being 42 inch OLEDs in future because they cost the same or less than 27/32 inch OLED monitors

    • Yes! Using them side by side with the 32 as my primary. Would happily buy a second 32 if it's ~$500 again.

  • +4

4x $155 with Paypal adding the unidays coupom, HODL failed successfully

    • Why 4x $155?

      • +1

        I'm guessing it's PayPal's version of afterpay

      • yep, PayPal has an Afterpay like option

    • +1

I can't believe the only reason I failed my hodl was also because of this…. I saw your comment and went to check if I could do it too… YOU BASTARD, you'll be the reason I'm enjoying 4k 144hz spreadsheets

  • Good fun when it was $500, got a DOA unit ended up refunding

  • Great monitor but waiting for the oled to drop in price.

  • +2

Awesome monitor, but I had to exchange it twice due to dead pixels. Third time lucky.

  • +4

My advice is never buy anything off dell directly as their customer service is non existent. There is no email or phone number onshore, your only option is overseas “technical support”. Spend 5 mins on their productreview.com.au page and you’ll see a pattern of selling crap hardware and replacing with refurbished only up to a point.
Bought a similar monitor to above last year and first one arrived dead, took 2 months to get them to replace, even accused me of fraud at one point.
Second monitor panel failed after 2 months, requested refund (as entitled to under ACL), no dice, offer refurbished panel only.
Complained to ACCC, received some lip service but no action. Only option at this point is small claims court.

    • +2

      Doesn’t sound right

Everyone I know has had a good experience with Dell support. Dell refurbs are like new, in my experience they will instantly replace any item with a problem.

No-one does it better than Dell.

      • +2

“Our higher management has given their final response . They mentioned replacement screen you had is working fine for 2 months considering the from the timeline previous exchange .

We could not provide refund or replacement since this is first issue reported . We can only offer a parts replacement from our inventory try fixing the issue .

Kindly reply with the following information so we can expedite this for you:

        • Contact person; alternate person if applicable.
        • Contact Number
        • Address where the service will be completed.

Thank you for being a Dell valued client.

This is the best resolution Dell can provide .

        Thanks

        Regards,
        Suthan Bala”

        • Exactly you get a refurb which are sometimes new. Never said otherwise.

Your issue seems to have some nuance I am unaware of.

If you feel another company does better, given them you your business.

          • +2

@Grok: The nuance is 2 dead screens within 4 months of purchase. At that point I would like to take my business elsewhere but dell are refusing a refund. A reasonable customer would not buy a monitor with the expectation that it would have to be replaced with refurbished. ACL means first return is option of the vendor ( refund, replace, repair) however second defective item the choice sits with the customer. You would not have issues with JBs where you can walk in a sort in person in store

            • +2

@Rkel403: I've just run into something like this today! I was looking to upgrade from my S2721Q to this, and it just this morning developed a row of dead pixels:

              https://i.imgur.com/h4tJdKc.png

This is the 2nd of these I've been on, the first developed random screen blanking in jan 2022. I've just been told that this is -not- covered under warranty and they won't be replacing the screen to fix this defect. The front panel glass is also loose and pops off on its own if the monitor isn't resting slightly backwards (doesn't seem to be anything sealing it in on the top side). Got the tech to send me the refusal in an email and seeing how I go following this up elsewhere.

Anyway, not entirely sure I wish to spend over $600 on a screen that may physically fall apart and get an entire dead row with no recourse to replacement inside 3 years.

              • +2

@stimutacs: Could be worse, look at mine
                https://ibb.co/Sws5kPV
                https://ibb.co/wWLF88L
                Paid $600 for absolute trash.
                Live and learn, buyer beware

                • @Rkel403: Just an update on this if it helps you -

I got rejected for a replacement over the phone, they mentioned level 3 support said no.

I then noticed that the process of being rejected had re-set the locale of my refurb replacement to australia, and that then allowed me to use the code on the back to try again on their online live support which wasn't available first time.

I got rejected for a refurb or refund from that a few hours later after going through the case again, again saying that it had been rejected by level 3.

I sent them an email to the last rejection saying that under ACL, at the very least, the monitor was unsafe (glass tips out of it), unusable for its intended purpose as a photo editing monitor (line of stuck red pixels), and that I would pursue this through small claims court. I also asked to be escalated to a manager, rather than to level 3.

Got a reply 2 days later saying it had been escalated to a manager instead and to wait 48 hours, and in another 2 hours from that got told my request for a replacement had been accepted and to stand by for setting that up.

Worth giving it another go, I think, and especially ask to be escalated to management + mention ACL breach + small claims court.

    • Had the opposite experience. Purchased a S3220DGF a few years ago. Arrived with a crack and called Dell support who arranged pick up and they resent a replacement within 2 weeks.

    • Well, my experience was different! After 2 years of having S2721DGF monitor, i had flickering issues and contacted Dell around 6PM. I got a replacement unit around 7 in the morning after two days.

    • Agree with this entirely

  • yeah I have the dell 27 inch 1440p 165hz display not ready to go to 4k high refresh rate gaming yet. not many graphics cards can do 144 FPS in 4k maxed settings.

    • +4

Best to wait for 50 series and hopefully we'll have some proper 4k cards and the prices of monitors will drop in the mean time

  • +1

I need a gaming monitor for my Xbox series X. What size would you recommend, and would this one do the job?

    • I've used one of mine as a display for the Series X when not being used as a monitor. Works very well, including VRR/Freesync.

  • I have been eyeing this off for months but couldnt wait so went to a 43" Gigabyte 144hz instead..

  • -1

Being from perth and enjoying online games, is there even a point in getting a monitor like ths, or more expensive, when Ping will never be better then what it is over east?

    • +3

What do you mean? What’s the ping got to do with whether you want a good image or not?

      • More so the frame rate, is it worth paying up for the 144hz and good graphics. When you can get similar for $399 or $299 when perfomance still wont be up to scratch with 50+ms

        • -2

Alright grandpa, time to go to bed.

          • @brifog: Dude is just sharing his bad experience with gamin on the west coast. Not sure your comment was needed.

  • Without spending >$1000 for OLED screens would this be the next best alternative for 4k gaming at 32"?

    • +2

Most definitely. I paid $850 for this a while back, and no regrets even at that price. Great colour, excellent response times, high build quality, good panel uniformity.

      • +1

I hope their quality control has improved, looking back at the most popular ~$500 deal every second comment was from ppl saying their screens were DOA

        • I got one with a defect and they are refusing to honour warranty. Taking them to VCAT. Will never buy Dell again.

  • Do Dell still have an Ebay outlet? I got the 2721q from there a while ago at a good deal that let me use a bunch of e-gifts, can't seem to find them on there anymore.

  • We have two of these screens and highly recommend them!

  • Got 2 back when they were $500. No QC issues and they are still going strong. Almost tempted to buy a third.

  • -1

was planning to get this but happy with my Gigabyte M32U ;-)

  • I have this and have it connected to my Mac mini M2 Pro (Personal device) and my MacBook Pro M2 non-Pro (Work machine).

Does anyone have an issue with the monitor sometimes getting stuck on a green screen when switching inputs? Like from DP to HDMI?

    Also,

The Mini is connected through HDMI and with some calibrating, the colours look awesome.
The MBP is DisplayPort and I, for the life of me, just cannot get the colours to look right - everything looks a bit green or just off - Yellows and oranges pop too much.

This is despite applying the same colour profile and settings in-monitor.

Does anyone else have an issue like this?

    • Make sure HDR is disabled?

      • Thanks. Indeed for one of my connected devices I don’t use HDR. Why would this matter/ cause this?
I use Desktop HDR on my Mini as it looks way better than without.

        • I find HDR affects the colours a lot on this monitor. I stopped using it, even though I'm a bit fan of HDR on other screens (OLED especially)

          Try it without

  • +1

I found it a bit yellow in the display compared to my other screen. Does anyone know how to adjust that?

    • Same. Yellow/greenish

I just used the tools built into OSX. it took quite a bit of calibration. I also find HDMI looks better than DP

      • Thanks for the info, haven't tried HDMI yet, will have a go.

  • Would be perfect if it was a touchscreen.

Been looking for 24”+ 4K touchscreen… nfi why they don’t seem to exist!

    • A 4k touchscreen that large would be rare as large format touchscreens are primarily used as public kiosks so costs & durability are the primary drivers.

Your only chance would be to go to one of the professional presentation TVs. I know some are available at 4k but you are looking at TV sizes i.e. 55" and up. Also expect to pay business equipment prices.

  • Would this work well with a PS5 for VRR?

  • I'm still waiting for a 4k, curved, IPS, refresh rate of 175hz or above, HDR10 and 32 or 34" is fine.
Am I dreaming or should I just buy this?

  • Got one, really happy with it.
