      Registered flybuys only

  • My DEFT payment is not going through.

I checked the card balance and it is showing as $250 available.

    • What error code?

      • 'Sorry, your payment cannot be processed. Please try again using a different card, or contact your bank.'

    • Works for me. I suggest you wait an hour after activation.

      • What do you put in the name field?

    • I've got the same issue, has it resolved for you?

      • No :(

        • Same tried 2 cards, same issue

          • -1

@n0mad: Did anyone else resolve the issue for paying DEFT?

            • @sfjadmin: Instructions down a little lower, need to log in and I tick saving the card

    • +4

Make sure you uncheck 'save card to account', then you can enter the CVV

      • +1

thank you, normally pay without logging in (Coles Mastercard gift cards) but worked when i did this.

      • +1

This worked for me too, thanks!

  • Merrylands and Westmead … zero stock except for the excluded items lol…. Went there at 9am

  • There was some behind the counter at Marrickville this morning. Looked like there was 2-3 boxes. I presume they still have some, but call ahead, the helpdesk was quite useful.

    • -1

      was that $100 or $250?

  • Finally able to beat you freezer geezers and nab 4x at 7am this morning, World Square. First time being able to find these. Cards were behind the counter.

  • Card no longer working to pay health insurance (RT Health which is owned by HCF )… useless fund which i am stuck with last 10 year but can't switch as i lose all waiting period… !!

    • +2

You don't lose waiting periods when switching private health. Just stick to the same level of cover

      • +1

wow .. i didn't know about it. I thought I have serve all the long waiting period again so never thought to change it as i am with RT for more then 10 years now and they increase premium every single year but not a single time they changed benefits.

so basically they pay physiotherapy $45 or $50 for 1st visit and it is still the same what it used to be in 2008 … ! so while all physiotherapy increased their charges RT never ever increased their benefits per items. They did increase total limit but it is of no use as i keep paying more every year for physio as there is no change to per visit by RT… !!!

how funny and dumb it is that politician approves health fund increase but never ask them to increase benefit in return …. so we the consumer paying out of pocket more every single time.. !!

    • +1

Wouldn't work for me either trying to pay Bupa. But luckily Bupa accepts Paypal. I was able to add the cards there and then pay Bupa.

      • I did the same, didn't work directly but no problems via PayPal.

    • +1

      Works fine with medibank

  • Is there ways to add to your super?

    • You can check zip pay or sniip

Haven't tried but i believe both support bpay (via your cc)

      • Sniip is what I use. Works a charm! You can add cards as much as you want. I’ve been doing it with each of these offers.
You can add 10 cards max every 24 hours, you then have to wait for the cool down to end.

        • So to check, are the fees 1.5% and you paid to your super

          • +2

@Mr Joker: The payment fee on Sniip for prepaid cards is 0.85%.

That means if you want to use up a $250 card (and assuming your superannuation fund allows payments from prepaid cards on Sniip), you can send $247.89 to your superannuation fund and pay $2.11 in payment fees.

            • +1

@WookieMonster: That's pretty good if you wanted to effectively get money back by salary sacrificing your net pay towards your super.

              • +1

@Mr Joker: Wookie is correct. $247.89 is payment amount and the $2.11 fee gets taken to use the $250 card. The way I do it is I just keep repaying the same bill so I don’t need to recreate new bill payments each time I make a payment in the app. I just go to a receipt, view the bill at the bottom and click pay. It might warn about being over due or overpaying it click okay and then proceed and pay.

            • @WookieMonster: Hi @WookieMonster, what’s the benefit of using the prepaid cards to superannuation? Getting tax deductions?

              • +3

@tangible: A few benefits, in my view:

                • I can make a contribution of $247.89 to my superannuation, but I only paid $231.75 for the gift card in the first place.

                • I can (in a roundabout way) use my credit card to send payments to my superannuation, which means when I purchase a gift card, I am earning rewards points (and for me at the moment, more easily meet the minimum spend criteria for my credit card’s sign-up offer too).

                • I can claim a tax deduction at tax time to lower my taxable income.

  • -2

Yes you have to get a job and then the employer will contribute a percent to a super fund. I think it’s around 3-4% of your total earning.
So if you were to earn $1200 a week you should get around 50 bucks or so

  • Grabbed 2 of the $250 today
One had an expiry of 2026 🤔 the other had an expiry of 2027 both were added to PayPal
The earlier expiry has been converted to a wish card ( extra 3%) [ via woolies mobile ]

    • +3

One had an expiry of 2026

I noticed that too when I popped into a Coles at lunchtime and saw stacks of $250s with 2026 expiry.

It is arguably legal for Coles to sell gift cards with less than three years expiry through this deal (and is probably actually the reason Coles and InComm are running this deal). The ACCC says gift cards must have three years minimum expiry, but it also lists a number of exclusions (and I have bolded the ones I think are relevant to this deal):

The 3-year rule does not apply to gift cards that are:

      • able to be reloaded or topped up
      • donated for promotional purposes. For example, a business handing out $15 vouchers to passers-by for its grand opening.
      • available only for a specified period. For example, performance of a visiting ballet company.
      • supplied at a genuine discount. For example, $60 card for a massage valued at $100.
      • part of an employee reward scheme
      • part of a customer loyalty program
      • second-hand gift cards
      • part of a temporary marketing promotion. For example, customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B.
      • supplied to certain charities or government agencies.

has anyone tried this card with ATO, today? just want to confirm the surcharge. someone here said it was 0.4% in the past
    .
    cheers

    • +1
    • Yes. I was charged $1 for $249 payment

  • Managed to grab 4 at Coles Lavington - thanks OP!

  • None at Coles Kirrawee. Will check Kareela later and advise

    • Quite a few $100 ones last I checked… not really worth the hassle though

    • +1

Don’t think Sutherland stocks them at all as well.

Haven’t been able to see any denominations of the Vanilla Visas there.

      • Thanks for the heads up. Haven't bothered with Sutho yet as it may as well be called a Coles Express compared to the other ones lol

  • ATO PAYG activity statements for April aren’t out yet. Can I prepay into this account since it is the same BPAY number and it will be offset when the instalment is due? Thanks

    • +1

I don't know about the cards, but yes you can absolutely prepay it. You'll likely get a little bit of interest too.

      • I had a quick look at the ATO website but struggle to find info on if PAYG over payment is eligible for getting interest

  • +1

Can confirm again ATO payments work

    • @cpkcpk Have any of your ATO payments settled/cleared?

  • Has anyone tried to make a payment using the CommWeb platform? It worked with the Mastercard gift cards but won’t work with the vanilla visa gift cards

  • only $100 left at North Parramatta :(

  • -4

Got 2 lots of $1250 today

    • +2

      Thanks for sharing

  • 5x ATO gone through (pending on VISA card), will try another 10 today

    • I think there's a limit of 10 cc payments per day
But there's also two ways to pay via cc (2 diff sites via ATO) so u could get around it

  • Am wondering, with all the ATO payment discussions, I assume you can still pay to ATO even though you don't owe them anything?

  • DEFT has blocked my account when trying to make a 5th payment of $250. The previous four went through without any issues.

    I can't login anymore :(

    • You don't need to log in, just pay via one time payment.

      • Without login it wouldn't let me make a payment at all.

The only way I was able to pay was by creating an account.

      • Usually Coles purple colour Mastercard can went through without logging in. But this vanilla card cannot process without logging in :(

    • Call them and they will unlock it.
Tried before, but usually takes 3-5 business day for them to unlock your deft account.

    • have you tried calling them, perhaps new account with so many weird payments. May need an explanation. I've paid at least 6 at once for the coles mastercard deals without issue.

      • Thanks.

I have called and they say nothing looks suspicious and will escalate to IT to fix it.

        • I had this a month ago…they said the same thing and further said will be done in 24hours….nothing since then…I just created another account diff email/same phone…and also paid a few w/o registering for an account as suggested above…

  • Is it 5 per flybuys per day or just 5 per flybuys?

    • per day…go crazy if you can find stock…

  • @WookieMonster do you know if these can be used with Afterpay? To use in conjunction with the current eBay code

  • I got to pay 2x $250 this morning
I am trying to pay again now and it's giving me unknown error. I called deft and they said from their end, it is showing there is not enough funds in my card? I checked the balance online and I definitely have enough. I also tried creating a new account but the same issue. Any idea?

    • Did you take into consideration the surcharge? You should be entering $249.1 as there is $0.99 surcharge

EDIT: I see that was replied directly to you too…

      • Yep. I did. Total payment including surcharge is 250. Even tried reducing by 1 cent
I tried my other property and it worked. so something's wrong with this reference number.. they raised it with their IT .. apparently… Sigh

      • Fyi I tried again today and it worked

  • -5

can't even check the balance on their website
    https://balance.vanillagift.com/signin

    • +1

It could be because that balance check website is only for Vanilla Visa gift cards issued in the US.

If you look at the back of the gift card packaging or on the back of the physical Vanilla Visa gift cards from Coles, they list the balance check website as https://vanillabalance.com

  • -2

Anyone have any luck finding $250s south of Sydney i.e. around the Shire and st.George area? Day 3 of checking about 10 stores with not a single one found

    • -3

What's point of telling you? Someone moderately nabbed 10 on one day and only got negged.

      • +1

Huh? I don’t care if you’ve grabbed 1 or 100. Was just curious if anyone has had any recent luck around my area or had any recommendations on stores that may restock frequently

        • -2

          Yes I have

    • +1

always ask the service counter as well as checking the shelves

  • -7

Just got another 10 at 1:30pm

And hid another 10 for tomorrow

Funny enough it was not in a rich suburb and a very busy coles.

I suspect they stock about 150 to 200 everyday after 10am

    • Get them over the counter. They are holding them. It is much safer that way

  • ATO website down for maintenance …

  • Who was the Chinese guy that got arrested by undercover police at marrickville for buying multiple lots of 5

    • Probably buying them to launder drug cash

  • +1

Just got 5 over the counter and some secret police interrogated me and took a picture of my ID. Didn’t know buying GCs is a crime now

    • This is interesting.

Why police would take ID if you are buying genuinely?

      • +2

They took pics of the receipt and my ID saying that it might be used for fraud. I regret allowing them to take my info. But they would not let me or the gcs go. Apparently they have been doing this for a while. They showed me a pic of another guys id
