Why don't you have a pork bun in your hand?

  • No xxx no deal 😅

      Only for $69

      • Yeah nah. Too expensive

        • Yeah you're not getting a deal on a .XXX Domain I know this was a joke, apart from the price reduction over original registration, it's only ever been discounted twice. The last good deal was 10+ years ago.

  • Does this apply for transfer

    • Clearly stated in title and in description new registration's first year only.

Renewal or Transfer deals are rare the best you going to do is a dollar off using this coupon or if there's an offer at Dynadot but I think that expired like last month sometime.

If you're using a registrar like Porkbun that has low registration cost already there's not really much for them to discount on the transfer without losing money unless the registry is offering discounted rates, but typically registries only do this first year.

From time to time registrars will choose to forego profit as a promotion, but typically, they won't sell below cost, the companies left doing this are new trying to grab marketshare and customer numbers to get to volumes that make the low cost model as sustainable as you can make it.

Porkbun is pretty much the apex of cost per unit plus value plus support that you can get right now on average for all domain registrations except .au based on the market report I completed in early February.

Can never have too many domains

  • Looks like a great deal - something I can use my wise card with.

    • I used revolut signing up for porkbun and they froze my account.

      • That's interesting because I've used Revolut's virtual cards multiple times to take advantage of free domain offers on new accounts with Porkbun.

  • porkbun are alright. their panel isn't as nice looking as other hosts (cloudflare, google [rip], etc) but its serviceable, and for how often one uses it who cares if the ux is below average. cant complain when theyre below icann costs.

Lots of people actually love the UI of PorkBun. I certainly like that most of the information is presented on the one screen and not spread across multiple tabs. I find it much more efficient to work with than other options I’ve used such as Google Domains, Name Cheap and recently Spaceship. I do inevitably end up using Cloudflare for DNS however.

Spaceship is still normally cheaper for the first year. Here's an example - .com with Spaceship using promo code COMPROS is $2.88 USD. If wanting to go Porkbun, the code AWESOMENESS should make some of their domains even cheaper (first time only)

    • Thanks for mentioning this, I used it on Spaceship. So cheap.

Unfortunately Spaceship is not the best company there owned by Namecheap.

The only reason they're selling well below cost is to grab market share as customer base of the core brand has been dropping significantly as the original model has a eroded overtime and Namecheap quickly became the thing they were fighting against upsell and bloat in there early days and now are probably on par with the likes of GoDaddy.

Their support levels are still terrible and it's still Namecheap at the end of the day, their interface is also the most horrible thing I've ever seen at Spaceship and Namecheap is out of control with upsell.

You've also gotta be careful with Spaceship lot of their coupons, a single use once per account. Not familiar with the one you've provided though.

But both Namecheap/Spaceship are what I would say good if you're looking to churn out after 60 days and they have the cheapest pricing for the extension you're looking to register.

Actually, it's first time per extension registered. You can use it once for every TLD. To get a dollar off.

      • I would argue that GoDaddy is simply the bottom of the barrel, Namecheap is better than that. I've had no issues with interacting with the support at Spaceship, they respond quickly and seem to know what they are talking about for the most part. Their live chat is pretty good. The thing about coupons makes sense, they aren't going to let someone abuse them and mass register .com domains for cheap.

Sure, the interface sucks but I don't care too much, don't need to use it too often. I was actually with Porkbun before Spaceship, but moved my domains away after a not so helpful interaction from their support. I'm going to stay with Spaceship for now, because the other option is Cloudflare and their support doesn't exist.
