Good price but Personally I would feel the ThinkPads are more solid build and reliable

But that's my experience of across 5 years using Thinkpads vs Think books in an enterprise level

Main issue is if your laptop dies when battery is flat, no reset button on these (these have a Novo which is hopeless for troubleshooting)

    • You can pull cover and remove the cmos battery and the main battery to clear the settings.

I agree with you, Thinkpad is more reliable and better built. The firmware is also better, as you can see more information on a Thinkpad.

  • What about yoga range VS thinkpads in your opinion? I need to buy a new laptop I've got a lenovo yoga c940-14iil I need to replace the fan on it. Not sure which lenovo to get, I use it mainly for work non heavy application and personal use

    • Yoga Not easily upgradable, while the Thinkpads easy

Trust me, Thinkpads T14 will easily give you 5 years +

      • Thank you, will start looking at thinkpad range

    • jJust a small UP from the Yoga boys. We ae doing just fine, no need to change a thing for a while it looks like.

  • Everything is good except the 8GB ram and 256GB hard disk! It would be perfect if it was 16GB and 512GB HD

    • +4

Ram is upgradable up to 40GB

      • +2

Can't they give you 16GB to begin with and 512GB is not much different to 256GB in price nowadays right?! Can't they just make it a bit more complete so you don't need to upgrade here and upgrade there!

        • They could, then it would cost more and people would ask where the lower specced cheap model is.

          • @Oyster59: Not necessarily. While other brands such as Acer, Toshiba and HP are offering low specs with low pricing. They should offer higher
specs for the same price or just marginally higher. It makes their products more complete and so attract more buyers! Why not sacrificed a bit of profit and treated as marketing expenses.

    • Someone bought the base model and gets angry? What a trope

45% NTSC :) i've never seen a IPS desktop monitor with less then 65% NTSC

Yep, it's a budget laptop, but still Lenovo is dumping their crap screens in Australia.

I guess we should be grateful Lenovo has finally dumped all their TN 1024x768 screens here already.

First spec I look for. I've noticed most of their < $1000 deals seem to have these screens. Just worth spending the extra to get 100% or 97% at least on screens (don't really know if it matters if it's sRGB or NTSC).

Second spec I look for, RAM can be upgraded.

Future third spec I'll need to start looking for: SSD can be upgraded (right now it's most of them but the more soldered to the board happy these manufacturers get the more you'll need to look at this on the cheapies).

I'm also quite happy waiting a few years when the 'mid-top of this year' Thinkpads get to the used resellers. I've get 6,7,8th gen Lenovo, HP, Dells which don't feel slow for the things I do on them so I'll wait for them to conk out before looking at a future purchase.

    300nits 45% no ty

Older G3 and G2 models had 100% sRGB displays, why start providing inferior screens?…..bizarre

  • lol 8gbs? You probably can't run teams with that

my 8gb lenovo has 70-80% ram usage in windows 11 on a fresh boot with one chrome tab 😂

      • Oh dear

  • This is a better option for around $80 more

    • Certainly more performance, but good luck with battery life if that's needed. Also the thermal fan might be bit loud too.
