Direct Flights One Way from ADL, PER, BNE, SYD, MEL to Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi from $165 (Fly 15/4 to 31/10) @ Vietjet

252

tl;dr

  • Vietjet sale on direct flights from Aus capital cities to Hanoi (ex MEL / SYD) and Ho Chi Minh City (ex ADL, PER, BRI, SYD, MEL)
  • Prices start at $165 AUD in economy, including fees / taxes
  • Possibly also includes 20kg checked baggage / hot meal - unsure about this. The email says you get complimentary baggage and hot food "for passengers booking and flying until 08/04/2024" but that is outside of the travel window. Perhaps it is a separate offer.
  • Sale ends 25/03/2024
  • Travel Period: 15/04/2024 - 31/10/2024

I haven't tested any routes yet.

  • WHat is a rough return ticket going for?

  • +4

Definitely not getting $165 one way.

  • Don't forget to add your middle name onto the ticket.

    • I dont have to and still fly as usual. Australian Passport

  • +1

If you use the "add lowest fare" tick box in the search function, it shows a table of low fares. I can see lots of dates for MEL/SYD > HAN at $192 in April, for example.

Vietjet sale on direct flights from Aus capital cities to Hanoi (excl MEL / SYD) and Ho Chi Minh City (excl ADL, PER, BRI, SYD, MEL)? so excluding everything?

    • "excl" meaning exclusively - not excluding. I thought this was the appropriate abbreviation for airline deals, but happy to be corrected.

      • +2

Usually it's ex in front of the port that the flight leaves from. eg ex SYD, latin origin of the word ex "from" or "out of"

        • Adds up. Thanks.

  • Anyone experienced with the airline ? How was it ?

    • 70% be delayed 1-2hrs, my mom did fly a few times. But its worth for what u paid for, VNA was over $1k, jetstar $800 at the time i booked vietjet for her around $500

friends flew with them a few times, they said the pilot was very inexperienced and they vomited every time.

    • We flew with them in "business class" October 2023- basic but on time from Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh.

No delays at all. Will do again.

    • Flew Mel-HCMC-Mel in November 2023. Left on time, arrived on time. Food (purchased extra cost) wasn't great. Bargain price, we paid $550 for two people return trip, carry on only. Would use them again.

    • Flew with them last month from ADL to SGN, they're alright, nothing special but you get what you paid for. Seat was not very comfortable, not much legroom (this was on smaller plane, A321neo, maybe on bigger planes like A330 from Mel or Syd will be slightly better?), food is fine, nothing fancy, small portion, you can buy more if needed, you'll need to buy water or bring your own, I bought using australian dollar and they gave me vietnamese currency as change, they prefer cash, you can use cards but once only. No entertainment on plane (again this was on their smaller aircraft, maybe on the bigger ones will have a screen for entertainment).
Flights timing is alright, occasionally will have delays, but rarely cancelled.

It's a delay airline; avoid if possible.

The checkout amount is in AUD. Is there any foreign transaction fees charged by the bank?

    • Probably foreign payment processer in which case there probably would be.

  • Has anyone found any Sydney > HCM flights? Looked all through May and June and nothing is below $230.

  • $432 the best I could find one way Mel to Hanoi May/June all night flights via Saigon 13hrs duration.

  • Warning
They are the worst airline or have the worst airline staff when it comes to handling crises. Their attitude and service management are extremely poor. From personal experience, when our flight was cancelled, they created chaos and put everyone in a difficult situation, including business class travellers. Overall, not worth a penny for the peace of mind. It's better to choose Singapore or other airlines.

  • Flew with them once and never again. No downvote or upvote because I chose to fly with them, meanwhile I have a sky full of choices. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR !!

    Pro:
    Flight on time

    Cons:
A330-300 Seat was very cramp, very very. Compare to other LCC, Scoot, Jetstar is much better.
Their customer services was not good and the way they handle crisis not professional.

  • I'm confused… i've tried to add flights BNE-SGN during the promotion period, and it's coming up $260+ each way… thought it would be applied later, but doesn't appear to.

Also the "B" promotion (hot meal etc) is for flights up to April 9th.

    • Keen to hear if anyone can work it out….

Flown with Vietjet plenty of times in Vietnam, regionally in Asia and internationally from Australia. As long as you’re realistic about your expectations (they’re a low cost carrier), you’ll be fine. None of my flights have ever been hugely delayed and the service on board is fine.

  • I couldn't find any tickets priced at $165 from Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh for the entire April. Can anyone?
