If you don't have a Google Pixel phone to trade in. You can still trade-in another phone and take advantage of:
You can currently get an Extra $400 off a Google Pixel 8 Pro on top of your trade-in credit - Ends 4 April

I will explain this, so you can trade in any phone (atleast $1 value) in order to get the $400 off Google Pixel 8 Pro.

Example: Trade in value of the phone it's $350. Plus $400 off. So $1299 - (350+400)= $549

  • So was the intention all along to put the price back up to $1,699 before people had the opportunity to use the $400 discount? Glad I didn't hesitate then.

So those in the know, if I don't send in my P7P and just sell it myself for considerably more than the $380 trade in value, beyond the $380 being charged to my credit card is there any other issue in doing this?

    • Will the phone still work if you already gave them the IMEI?

      • Not sure. T&Cs just say they will charge the trade in fee to your card if not received within 14 days. So it won't have cost them anything. Trade in company are separate to JB.

      • They will not use your IMEI as it's just optional, I didn't give them mine.

    • that's what I'm thinking of doing - exact same boat except I just have a P7, and the trade in value was $320. Should I send mine in?

      • Seems they just charge the 320 to your card. Can't see anything in the T&Cs to suggest there's anything beyond that. Others who've done it before can likely confirm.

Can confirm I just did JB-Hifi price match with online chat. google store $1399 for pixel 8 pro 256gb version. Then used the $400 bonus coupon to take it down to $999. Then traded my pixel 7 in for $320 which took it down to $679. Paid $679 on my credit card, have to go pick up my phone from the store as well as send my old pixel 7 in.

    • question. did you use the trade in value first then price matched. then bought the phone. bought it home, transfered the data and then send the pixel 7 away?

      • that's what I "was" going to do, I have both the pixel 8 pro and pixel 7 at home right now, but I'm not sure if i should send the phone back yet, just asking for some other opinions

    Thanks for sharing!

Managed to price match the Google store discount, then apply the $400 off for the pro 8 by trading in an old 4a lying around, bringing it down to 898.

I'm still using my 4a as it has unlimited google photos :)

      • Stick with your 4a.

I'm paying for Google Photos with my Pixel 7.

    • Attempting to do the price match now via chat. How did you then get the $400 trade in bonus, I can't see the offer on the jb site.

Edit: got it sorted. Price match google store $1399 256gb, $185 for my pixel 6 256gb plus the $400 trade in bonus. With delivery $820.99 total.

  • Looking for a bit of advice / suggestion from all you expert Ozbargainers here. Thanks in advance!!
I've purchased the Pixel 8 Pro using this deal by trading my pixel 7 in. I have applied both the bonus coupon $400 and the trade in value $320 to bring the purchase price down.
I'm at the last step now - whether or not to send the pixel 7 back. If I do send it back, nothing happens. If I don't send it back, I'm assuming from discussions here that I will just be charged $320.
The question is - whether or not I should send it back? What do people think here? Given that refurbished pixel 7s are selling for $549 on Reebelo with a 12 month warranty, I don't think I'll be able to sell mine for much more than $320?
    Thanks for your help!!

If you aren't getting much more id probably just send it back. I have a P7P that I could probably get 600 for and I'm considering not send it and selling myself. From what I can see I'd just get charged the 380 trade in cost so would be well ahead.

  • Jb Hi Fi at Westfield, Chermside, refused to stack $400 trade in voucher and price matching with Google Store. The best they can do is $200 off on top of the $400 trade in voucher (+ whatever trade in value you can get for your device). In my case i was planning to trade in S20 FE, and was offered $1699 - $400 - $99 - $200 discount for final price of $1000 for P8P 128gb.

    • It looks like they don't want the sale. I found price matching at JB it depends on the store and the sales person working. Some people think they own the place and the money it's coming out of their pocket.

    • just do an online chat - they did it for me.

      • Yes, will try.

  • When sending the old phone do you just print the labels and go to Australia Post?

Australia Post puts it in a box for you?

This is what jb hifi told me.

  • It says "†Discount via JB coupon. Coupon offer ends 24/03/2024. Redeemable coupon discount value of $400 for Google Pixel 8 Pro is calculated off the current ticket or promotional price. " Does this mean we need to use the voucher before tonight ends by purchasing the pixel 8 pro or just redeem the voucher via trade in? I wasn't able to catch the live chat so I would need to wait till tomorrow to price match the google store.

  • Looks like I've missed out on this. They said we should have traded in by 24/3.

  • Just adding to this that I asked them about price matching the Google store discount price at the moment, while also usingly $400 bonus. And they said they couldn't do it due to the $400 bonus apparently coming from google? I didnt push very hard on it though. Sad as would've been a great deal as i missed when jb had the phone discounted themselves.

  • New offer has been extended to the Samsung Fold 5 and Flip 5 range too
