I dont like needing a high end GPU to game at native rez. I'll stick with 32" 1440P for now. But this is a great work monitor + viewing 4k movies and shows

    • +9

4k works the best with FSR/dlss since it's not as noticeable compared to upscaling to lower resolutions.

    • I'm hanging for the 32" 1440p 240Hz OLED monitors coming out this year 🤤

      • +5

Why not just spring for the newly released 360hz 1440p oled instead? Sure they're 27" but that's usually expected with 1440p screens.

      • PPI on a 32" 1440p screen will be terrible. Yuck

        • +2

3440x1440 rather than 2560x1440 makes a difference here. The WQHD vs QHD. With WQHD 32" is a wider aspect ratio and more pixels and works quite well I think. Everyone's use case differs though.

          • @rhino015: Late reply, but you're confusing with a 34". A 34" will offer WQHD, a 32" will be standard QHD in a 16:9 aspect ratio with associated terrible PPI.

            • @saitaris: Those ultra wides don't have enough height unless you get a massive one.

Appreciate most comments will be coming from gamers though.

      • @gentlekoala5906

Any idea when the 240Hz ones are coming out? Also any similar ones to this one at 240 Hz on the market already at 32" flat screen and or with MiniLED?

      • wouldn't they cost a lot lot more?

      • Would this be crisp to read from? Looking at increasing monitor RE from 24in to 27 or 32in. Mainly read articles lots of them and a few vids. Thanks.

      • For $299!!! Or less :)

    • +8

People grizzle about 1440p because of the suboptimal upscaling but I've likewise found it to be my happy place. It looks great, and with a decent GPU and Freesync you can get consistent ~90-140 fps on most modern games whereas at 4k, you will start falling into the 50s which I think is way more noticeable than a 1% drop to say 70 fps.

      • +1

Yeah I've only found it suboptimal with a Mac due to how it renders text, but totally find for my gaming PC.
Apparently it's due to MacOS lacking subpixel rendering

      • Yeah not really an issue, I've got 2x Dell S3220DGF (32" curved 1440p165Hz) monitors, great for general tasks and work. I use one for games but not often.

Multiple flat 32" would be a bit hard to take, looking at the edges is a bit far away. I don't need 4k, but also agree this res is probably best for 27" (3 of them work be alright if curved).

Good to remember that most comments will be from hammers, and you'd need a ridiculous GPU to play games in 4k

    • I think there is a new generation of monitors that could address that. 4K/1080p pixel binning displays. So you can have the pixel density for productivity tasks and the responsiveness (or no need for a high-end GPU) for gaming tasks.

  • Will it ever go back to $499?

  • +10

Stacked with student code for $557. Close enough to the $499 price for me to finally get it

    • Can you share student code if you have?

      • PM’d you

        • don't take it you or anyone has another student code? cant get email tricks working anymore

    • would you happen to have a spare student code I could borrow?

  • great monitor & price

  • damn the price keeps getting more and more tempting lol.

  • +1

Bought one of these when it was $499, was DOA out of the box. Dell ran OOS so I took a refund. I know all electronics have a chance of failure, but there was a LOT of people complaining about DOA's in that $499 post.

    • What monitor did you end up getting?

      • +2

        I spent a lot more than $500 that’s for sure :D

Alienware AW3423DW was what I bought. No regrets.

        • So Dell then. ;)

          • +2

@AEKaBeer: …Yes? I never suggested people avoid Dell entirely. My other monitor is a Dell U3223Q. It's been great. Just this particular monitor seems to have issues with DOA screens being common.

    • That was such an ordeal dealing with their support

Was a beautiful monitor, too bad was DOA

    • +1

In the last 24 months I've bought (either for myself or work) 9 dell monitors (mix of two models). Of these 5 had defects. I managed to arrange collection of a defective unit this week that ended up being replaced earlier, that has been sitting under my desk for 9 months (after 6 or 7 emails to dell and numerous calls)…

The other 4 monitors (two replacements to replace existing ones are as bad and worse) are still going back and forth with Dell in emails but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel.

To say their quality control and support is an ordeal to deal with is an understatement.

      • For what it's worth i have the total opposite experience with Dell, i find their support (At least Pro Support) is far better than any other vendor and i rarely ever have issues. Lenovo however i would not look at buying in any workplace again

    • Did they have a technician come out and assess or they just took your word for it?

      • Just took my word for it, although there was no risk to them in that as I didn't get a refund until the return was received.

        • So you have to return the item?

          • @nightelves: They don't just refund you and let you keep the dead monitor…

They do provide a shipping label to return it though, and organise a courier to collect it.

    • Heap of people with that issue, I was one of the lucky ones that got offered a replacement in that deal. Second one worked perfectly.

      • So do you have to return the monitor?

        • +1

Yeah but Dell organised it. Courier just came and picked it up, and they sent a new one. Think there was overlap so they sent the new one before they took the old one back.

guys need to remember if you get anything from Dell it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks sometimes a month to get anything. Don't expect it to be quick.

    • +3

Not necessarily, I have bought plenty from Dell and most of them turned up in a day or two, maybe I’m lucky?

      • +1

depends on the item and depends if they have local stock if they don't they order directly from singapore.

    • I got my $500 Dell G3223Q within a week last year. Their warehouse is in French's Forrest NSW and they use StarTrack from memory.

      • -1

I got a QHD 165HZ one back in 2021 took a month to get to Australia from Dell.

        • +3

Ironically 2021 was the year when every company under the sun was suffering massive shipping delays.

    • Not necessarily, ordered one and received it 4 days later (Perth).

  • +1

This is a perfect pairing with the latest optilex deal. (Yes, this is a joke.)

    • That's what i am running now. I got this and Optilex 7060, not bad for running office tasks.

      • +2

Monitor twice the price of the computer, just feels weird but I guess if it works it works…

  • I have an old gaming rig running 3070 and this monitor. you'd be surprised how much meaningful gaming you can do in 4k with a 3070, with DLSS and without

awesome monitor, I got it for $499 and no regrets. awesome for productivity, too. best monitor ever, never thought about upgrading since.

    • +8

Your definition of old is very different to mine.

      • +2

Pentium 2 266mhz with no cache, 32mb of ram and a Voodoo 2 GFX?

      • Im afraid to ask, but.. can it run Crysis?

    • Dang, I feel kind of ashamed now considering my 3070 is old.

Dlss does work wonders in performance mode. Too bad helldivers doesn't support it due to its discontinued engine.

  • +1

I've got this and paid full price (what am I doing on OzB) … not a single issue with it.

  • How does this compare to the gigabyte FI32U, which I currently have. It seems the specs are identical but it's half the price.

    • Basically the same judging by rtings reviews

    • Can you share the link for gigabyte one

      • I ordered mine from Amazon in early 2022 Link.

  • +1

need an opinion on this, like will it run out of stock do yous think?

  • +1

I got one in a previous deal and loved it so much I got a second. Great for office work and works great with Gsync/Freesync. No issues on either monitor.

  • -1

Is this overkill for a good photography monitor?

    • Would also like to know if it's an overkill for graphic design and video production.

      • Do you do any HDR work? If so, it's not good enough. Otherwise, it offers you the ability to easily work with HFR video.

There's been cheaper 4K 144Hz monitor deals, but not that many yet.

    • Imho it isn’t accurate enough.

  • Oh damnit just bought one of these at $622 with edu discount.

    Every time.

    • +3

Pretty sure dell has a 30 day price guarantee. Contact them and see how we go

  • +1

Ahhh man should I be fiscally responsible and stick 2k 144hz dell monitor or upgrade. Decisions decision decisions

  • Grabbed 2 12 months ago and they're great. Thinking of adding a third.. hmmm

    • Curious how your 2 32"s are arranged

      • Probably two landscape and 1 portrait is the usual setup for 3 monitors.

        • As in.. are they both flat side by side OR one flat and one angled

  • Got it down to $556.53 with UNiDAYS/Dell Student discount. Have a spare code if anyone wants it

    • +1

      Yes please!

    • Can I have please

      • Grateful if anyone else has a spare Unidays/Dell student discount code

  • This or U3223QE, which is better?

    • +3

      Content creation -> U3223QE (60hz)
      Gaming -> G3223Q (144hz)

    • +3

U series are individually calibrated, have VESA mounting, and have a ton of ports on them. They are designed for content creditors and professionals and thus come with a higher price.

      • I got a calibration report with the G3223Q. Pretty sure it supports VESA 100 mounting. But yeah, different panels for different purposes

  • I am with U3415 (3440x1440) now. Is it worth replacing with this one?

  • using his monitor for a few years now pretty good

    • no in built speakers and audio out and usb inputs on the bottom of monitor gets annoying especially if you have something under the monitor or want to have it sitting low on your desk.
    • runs PS5 well but cant be hooked up to a sound bar via HDMI

    other than that great monitor

  • Hi there,

I have a 4090 OC Strix. Do you think I can run games at Ultra? And is DELL any good?

    • You'll be fine!

    • +3

Hi there, i have the best gpu possible on the market… Do you guys think i'll have any problem humble bragging? cheers

      • It's never best for long..
