    24AN03 or AE3ZNAF for a further US$4 off.

    • Codes don't work.

        24AN03 gave me $6 off

        • US$6? More like AU$6.

      • They get restocked a few times a day. If you've already used them they won't work. Sometimes the new user bonus will stop them too.

This or the rgb 30 or r36s or rg35xxh?

    • +2

rg35xx h if you want a vertical, mini or rg35xx plus if you want a more gameboy feel and without having thumbsticks. Havent tested any of em myself got a rg35xx h coming but while researching em i heard rg's have better build over mini and i cant comment on the rbg30 i dont know anything about it from a quick search the rbg30 has better support for the OS and is more developed dont know anything about performance.

      • Rgb30 is the fastest. Biggest. But poorer built quality and most expensive from my research

        • Plus the JelOS team just announced they will no longer make builds for the chip in it, I have it and its a great device though

        Nah Steam Deck.

        • Nah Legion Go

          • @lew380: The Steam Deck is far superior due to the vents.

More responsive, more power mwah, chef's kiss

            • @GodisJustOK: Steam deck has less performance? It is better as a pure corporate gaming device, it feels way lighter too. But it is overly clunky to use as a portable pc.

As a pc user already, LeGo works better as a gaming pc hybrid, steam deck is too corporate gaming centric and doesn't work as well for emulation and niche gaming/modding.

              I have both.

              • @lew380: Debatable, I've had a great time replaying stardew valley with my boo and a little Roblox on the side, my husbands often takes my deck for a ride no complaints on it's size.

We tried the legion but it felt too nintendo and childish for us, not enough raw power for games like Hogwarts legacy I loooove it.

                • @GodisJustOK: Noy enough raw power? Lego is around 30% more powerful! But they are both great devices. Different use cases.

I cant say for the others, i have the miyoo mini with Onion OS installed and it has been awesome experience. The onion dev team has made this a much better device. You can read more on the features the OS provides extra on top of the device itself on Onion OS website.

  • I'd get an emulation device with higher resolution screen so you can fake the LCD matrix with gaps between pixels on the original gameboys.

  • Heaps nice

  • I have one and it's a lot of fun but mine seems to have crashed and is stuck on one game even though I have deleted that game, I might need to format the SD card and start again.

    • +2

Running the included stock sd card?
Also y did you delete Peppa pig golden boots adventure

      • +2

Running the included stock sd card?

No, bought a new card and have been using it for about 6 months or so and has been working fine.

Also y did you delete Peppa pig golden boots adventure

You can have too much of a good thing.

  • Paid $59.17. Have one. Wanted another.

  • This or PC emulator?

  • +1

I prefer this over the RG35XX, no real reason, i have 2 of each and i guess i found the miyoo just felt more solid, build wise but both performed the same

    • Why you need more than 1 of the similar devices?

      • +26

Everybody needs a collection based hobby to define their whole personality once they turn 30

        • +5

Plus everyone knows it’s more fun to set these up than actually play games on them.

          • @smartazz104: Isn't that basically every emulation device lol

    • Having used both, i agree. My feel is that whichever is cheapest is the one to buy, but the Miyoo is just a nicer device to feel and use. It has less rattles than the RG35XX and the plastic quality feels nicer.

      • Bit small though

  • +1

This or mod old 3DS that’s lying around?

    • Have both. 3ds is too valuable to play too much. Also won’t emulate as much as this.

    • +1

If you have not mod anything befor the 3ds is not just one step and you are done. Even adding rom games are a few more steps, but there are how to do's all over youtube. Check out funky Scott 47 on you tube

The 3ds drops off at ps1 emulation and n64 emulation but will do some. so it will do gb, gba, super nintendo, all old retro ect, aswell as doing 3ds

I think Mini's are sent with onions os now and in my opinion easier even if you need it add to a sd card then moding 3ds. Also adding roms is very easy.

The mini will do most of ps1 no n64 only ports of games (i think mario N64 is the only ported n64 game) and all the older stuff, gb, gba super nintendo, all retro ect

As someone who has this as well as the following Rg35xx, Rg351v, M17, R35s, R36s, RGB30, Retroid Pocket 3+, Sf2000 and a couple of hacked Psps and 3DS ill say the following. This is pretty much the goat of all the smaller handheld devices due to it running on OnionOS. The only real issue with these i find is that its just not to comfortable to play with especially if your hands aren't tiny. Having said that getting a grip case for these and the rg35xx does wonders. Also there not the best for playing games which require analog. Some games can be played without them but your better off with the bigger handhelds if you can afford them.

    • so you saying the rg35xx is the best?

      • That runs on garlic OS but yeah it probably is. I hear it has the best build quality.

      • I got my rg35xx just before my miyoo mini+ about a year ago now and after having played both on and off with garlic and onion installed i actually prefer the miyoo as the control pad is definitely more concise then the rg35xx. The build quality on both is comparable tho and either way you cant lose.

But if i was going to get one now id get this for around this price and if not the rg35xx + for a few bucks more. The wifi comes in handy for retroachievements amongst other things like updating etc. But i actually prefer the r36s to them both as it is alot more comfortable to use although quality wise its not quite as well put together as either of these. I've also had the r35s for quite a while now and it all comes down to how you like the control layouts with either the analog sticks with the dpad on the bottom or the dpad ontop of the analog sticks.

Getting back to the Miyoo or rg35xx both are great especially for the cheaper prices you can get them for at the moment. I got both of mine on various deals last year for around the same price as they are currently discounted too.

        • any comment on the RGB30? thats the one i really want after watching a few reviews. Wanna play some pico8 games as well and heard its good on the rgb30

          • @SS625: Yeah its the best way to play pico 8 and gameboy games imo out of all the devices i have had and played with so far.

Don't forget Drastic is in Onion 4.3, so this also ok for playing Nintendo DS games like Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon Fourth and Fifth Generation on Nintendo DS, etc.

  • The crystal black one without the memory card is coming up as $96 for me.

    • It’s finished

      Miyoo Mini+ plays what Nintendon't

      • -1

Thanks. Lastly, are the games already present in the memory? It says with 25k games 😂

Sorry, the last time I bought something similar, I saw games were repeated like hell lol

        • +1

From memory it does come with a lot of games but you'll find a lot of same games from different regions. (EU,USA, Multi, JP, etc..)
But it does have the bulk of the popular games you would want to play.

I mentioned this previously in another post but "You would want the 'Godhand miyoo set' instead of the 'tiny-best-set-go' since it's tailored for the Miyoo.
It's just a smaller and cleaner version of 'tiny-best-set-go' for the miyoo"

You would need to google it.

The mini+ is still my go to handheld. Perfect size, not too big or too small. My son likes the mini v2 better for his smaller hands.
The mini v2 is too valuable to play because they don't make the lcd screen anymore which has the better screen.

          https://imgur.com/KSvmNJH

        • The discounted one was with the option of no SD card so no games.
There were/ are options to buy cards and eg 25k games on it, however, every single bit of advice is to throw away any included card because they are poor quality and it will fail on you, and also that the stock OS is not enjoyable and installing Onion OS will make it much more enjoyable for you.

So, either get one that comes with a card and transfer the data on to a brand name card to avoid it failing,
Or, buy a brand name card separately and install Onion OS and download your own ROMs on to the card (eg Tiny Best Set, Done Set, God Hand. Mild computer skills required to do this),
Or, buy a pre done/installed brand name card from someone in Etsy with one of those sets on it,
Or, get a mate to copy theirs for you

Original listing says no longer available

Went looking for alternative sellers found these

MIYOO Mini Plus Portable Retro Handheld Game Console V2 Mini+ AU$56.09 Also seemed black was also the same price

  • Since people buy these when they don't have thumb sticks, does that mean they are only interested in emulation of pre PS1 systems?

    • This basically only plays up to PS1, and a large amount of PS1 games don't require thumb sticks. So it is basically good for everything up to that. Thumbsticks would be mostly an unnecessary bit of hardware bulk at this power level.

      • do you know what's out there that would emulate Dreamcast or PS2 level in this form factor? I think at that stage games are starting to look better than hand helds up until the switch maybe

        • +1

Dreamcast is easier to emulate than PS2.

Depending on the games, an RG35XX plus/H will play lighter DC games, and a T610 powered device such as a Retroid 3+ or RG405M would do DC well but only lighter PS2 games. A Retroid Pocket 4 is a bit more powerful again but still won't be the go to PS2 machine, a Retroid Pocket 4+ is a good fit for PS2 though, as is the Anbernic RG556 (cna't play all but will play most), however now we are up to $3-400 and larger form factors..

          • @witheredcouch: I guess I could settle for just DC, PS2 is a huge library, but you don't have to play everything on the road

    • PS1 originally didn't have dual thumb sticks, so a bunch (all?) of games don't even require them.
I've only played one PS1 game atm (Syphon Filter i think)- semi auto aiming, shoulder buttons to strafe left and right. Certainly not as smooth as today's standards, but was no doubt mind blowing to us as teens.
I got it more for arcade and mega drive, that i played with my brother as as a teen. It's fine for arcade without analogue, it would be nice but isn't necessary

  • If anyone missed out. I have an unused new one I purchased. Thought I wanted a 2nd. Decided I don’t. No profit being made. In Brisbane.
