  • How long till the 5000 series?

    • i think its next year, 2025, from old reports.

    • "Nvidia is supposedly planning to “make a big deal about RTX 5000 efficiency at CES 2025.” This means that the GPUs are supposedly launching either at the end of 2024 or near the beginning of 2025." Found this in an article.

      • +3

Yeah I'm hoping that efficiency also brings down the heat and therefore we go back to 2 slot GPUs. I'm just not a fan of these GPUs running hotter, more power hungry and bulkier each generation.

        • +2

Bring down the power use, keep the 3 slot GPU's. I imagine 90% of people would prefer a near silent card over a smaller one

      • Important to note that even if that's the case, it will be at least another six months before they are affordable enough to consider. You can't HODL forever.

        • It depends if it was like this gen then a 5070 will outperform the 4080 but for less money. 4070 goes blow for blow with 3080 in benchmarks but was a cheaper at release than the 3080 at end of life.

    • This year you will see the flagship. But Laptops are CES next year. Maybe they will delay the smaller models like a 5070 and 5060 into next year.

    • Probably around Sep/Oct this year as usual but will probably only be the 5090 first.

I think it's nice and clean.. none of this space age stuff that others do.

      • +4

I thought they were talking about the price lol

      bring back 2010 please

You mean the awful GTX 480 that was basically a space heater and lemon, all in one?

FWIW, hardly a great deal either. See: https://web.archive.org/web/20100705042446/http://www.msy.co…

So a GTX 480 was around $600, back when the AUD/USD exchange rate was $0.9781 AUD per USD, today, that exchange rate is $1.54 AUD per USD.

In terms of purchasing power parity, that means that $600 AUD back then was around $586.86 USD, which would be $903.76 AUD today.

Average inflation rate from 2010 to 2024 is around 2.6% (see RBA statistics), so that would mean, adjusted for inflation and purchasing power parity, a GTX 480 would be around $1,300 today.

Is the 4080 Super expensive by comparison? Yes, definitely, but a vast chunk of that is due to the erosion of value of the AUD. If you make the same salary today as you did back in 2010, it would be worth less than half as much in terms of purchasing power parity against the international standard (i.e. USD), and adjusted for inflation. That's just what it is.

  • Man the 4080 was only 310mm this is 27mm longer…

    Is this a good deal?

I bought Gigabyte 4070Ti Super yesterday for $1340.

    • I mean it's an OK deal, I went for it since I might get one of the new OLED in the next month or two, not holding my breath for any of the other brands like PNY to go down any further until later in the year.

      • -4

Yeah, I 'needed' a gpu and thought might as well spend another $50 and get a better brand with better warranty in Aus compared to galax, pny etc 3rd tier brands. Zotac is alright but it's still second tier.

        • +4

PNY isn't a 3rd tier brand AFAIK, they're a US based company that makes high end Quadro cards and OEM cards.

        • +2

So you chose a gigabyte? The same company who's top tier GPUs were cracking on consumers and wouldn't replace? This is why you need to do extensive research and not play by ear. PNY would be more reliable these days.

          • -3

@lookingforadeal7: Have a bit of a read on Reddit for PNY/Zotac. They use cheap AiBs for their boards, doesnt result in the best performance and longetivity; hence the cheaper price. Gigabyte in Aus has been okay with warranty issues.
For a lower end card like 4070/S, any brand should be alright. But if you're going higher up like 4080 etc, then there's no harm in spending another $50 to get a better brand gpu.

        • Galax is known for being the best in the world for their GPUs. Setting records for overclocking and performance year after year. Their HOF model is always the go to.

    • Where you get this?

  • Hows Inno3D warranty? Is it easy to claim? How long is it? I cannot find any information on their website..

    • +1

You'll likely be dealing with the retailer because of our consumer laws. However, Mwave is saying 3 years limited manufacturer warranty.

Returned an Inno3D 4070 Ti Super that arrived faulty. Easy return with centre com.

Did they do an exchange or refund? CC usually known for causing trouble.

        • I asked for a refund. Got one.
